Nice venue - with potential for beers but wasted by the lack of food quality, cleanliness & strange staff.

Staff & Management are out of their comfort zone,
unsociable & awkward. I don’t think many speak English.

It’s dirty.

- Dead insects on window & table.
- Beers aren’t fresh off tap, as they taste of expired hop / metal from the keg. (Probably sitting in the heat too long)
- Staple Parma is the worst at any surrounding pub in Melbourne. Glued together chicken, my breast was 3 pieces stuck together, with very sweet tomato tin sauce is always an indication on how good a pub bistro is, and the chefs at hand.

I can see the owner cutting corners from every angle.this Hotel is lacking the fundamental’s of a good pub.well below average in all areas, and you’d prefer a run down venue in a back street with good hospitality, food & beers.then the opposite.

Not my local - wouldn’t return.

Fresh & tasty food. Not large menu but something to please everyone I think. Vegetarian, vegan, GF all been covered when our family eaten here.

It was great Christmas eve dinner at clayton hotel bistro. At first see, Feels bit over pricy with linguini de Mare with ingredients, but taste was perfect. 100% happy with all the food. Scotch fillet steak, chicken Parma also. Especially the wait staff lady, she was so kind&sweet. She made great experience at clayton hotel bistro for us. 10/10. Love her smile and hard working. Highly recommended!

The Clayton Hotel has some of the best function rooms in Melbourne. They have to be proud of these venue places because it gives all of us to enjoy our special occasions. They are able to take it to the next level by providing a venue that’s ideal especially for those living around the area. For the best event venue, The Clayton Hotel is the place to be.

This is my go to place for lunch. All the staff are great, but the new staff member in the bistro is 10/10, she is super friendly, she is a keeper. Love your work.from the Mango and Orange Juice lady.

Great food, cheap drinks, nice atmosphere.

Came here for a Christmas work dinner. Servers were incredibly nice, food was delicious and recently priced.

Would reccomend coming here with family or for some drinks with mates.

Tried the $15 menu. Got myself a parma (yes not a parmie).
Fair size, and beautifully done chips. Salads were great.
Was offered some tomato ketchup, but wanted Mayo. Unfortunately, its a pain to get Mayo. Would be a big plus if the place are generous with the condiments.

The best place to eat in Clayton. Have been a regular customer of them since i moved to Melbourne. Best food in town. The staff is friendly and warm and ambience is positive, it feels like home. The food is delicious and the portion is good. No faults at all. Highly recommend this place.

Great atmosphere. We had a group booking which the venue accommodated easily. Food good with plenty of variety on the menu. Cold beer.

Todat was my last day visiting this beautiful hotel After 2 years visiting every day i was one of good gambler player i use to spend 3k per week the.so today I ask about lemonade after I stop play pokies lost 600dollars and one of the staff his name is John ask me 3.5 dollars about that loli dont know what's wrong about this person but you must recheck what kind staff you have there plenty people complain about this person have a lovely night i m happy if the manager or someone want to know more about all this situation my name is nickolas I m very popular person at Clayton because live and working in this area lots of years

Impeccable dishes served in a classic location. Adds drama and charm.

The menu of the Clayton Hotel is definitely one that would make you come back for more. This is the case for me. I visit Clayton Hotel as often as I can to try their dishes. However, their Caesar Salad and Chicken Parmagiana are two of their dishes that I must have WEEKLY! Freshest ingredients and cooked to perfection! They also treat their guests with sincere and genuine warmth. I can go on and on. Just visit The Clayton Hotel to find out why I am raving this way.

We are very disappointed with The Clayton hotel. We had organized my mother's 60th birthday surprise party and they did not deliver what they promised. We had 65 people attend and the food that was prepared was enough to feed half of the people that were there.
Shelly was very rude and the way she had organized the whole food service to was very unprofessional. It was very embarrassing for us as the hosts to have our guest line up waiting for food to arrive that wasn't coming because they had not prepared enough food. Just as an example they had prepared 10kg of lamb for 65 people and out of that 10 kg there was 3 kg of bones!
VERY DISAPPOINTED AND A BIG THUMBS DOWN. I regret spend every single dollar with you people! NEVER AGAIN

My fiancée and I had our engagement party upstairs in the function room. Since day one of planning, the venue manager Shelley was extremely helpful, professional and accommodating. Very prompt in replies, friendly, caring and reliable to a tee.

The function room space itself is quite beautiful and very reasonably priced, with the potential to be set up in numerous ways. The smoking balcony is a bit small, but does the job. The only detractor from the function room is the echo factor can be overwhelming to some guests, but music drowns it out well enough.

The food is fantastic, perhaps surprisingly. My guests couldn’t get enough of the catering options! Make sure you get enough food! We didn’t have a problem per se, but wow the demand and praise for it surprised us.

They’re also very accommodating of different cultural traditions and needs, which goes a long way.

I would recommend anyone have their function at the Clayton Hotel. The night went perfectly, and we have the Clayton Hotel crew to thank for that.

We went for lunch, found the staff rude & uninterested. The seniors meal was a joke, husband ordered bangers & mash.he got 1/2 a sausage and tiny bit of packet of mash. Won't be going back!

A great place for lunch in a recently renovated hotel with very friendly staff, a nice indoor and outdoor area for groups and families, although somewhat limited seating and no kids playground. Food was good but the portions were a little small for the price. There's also no dedicated parking which can get difficult to find a spot in the side streets.

Excellent place. Staff are lovely and build a relationship with reoccurring customers. Food is a tad pricey, but beautifully made. Tables have fresh and different flowers + candles every time I go, toilets are always clean. The whole restaurant is modern and the lighting is lovely. Pokies and bar is sectioned off perfectly from the restaurant creating spaces that don't interfere with each other. The place is always clean, the tables are spaced nicely and you can see the chefs cooking which is always reassuring/interesting.

Bistro was very modern and quite spacious. Food was fantastic. Large meals. Staff were really friendly and made you feel welcome upon arrival. Prices were reasonable and not over priced.
Would definitely recommend to family and friends.
