The Clayton Hotel

I ordered something else and got something else! Anyway good place to meet some one as casual and have a sip or fresh beer or if you want you can play litt bit fun games.

They have brought back a couple of important menu items in steak sandwiches and pasta ragu. Which are probably the nicest things on the menu. Is quiet enough to walk in and get a table but busy enough for a good atmosphere. They have a semi outdoor area and a fully enclosed outdoor area for drinks and foods and all these services are kept separately from the gaming/horse gambling areas. The food is surprisingly good for pub grub. Staff are friendly and helpful for all the different kinds of patrons. Only drawback is one waitress who brings a particular kind of nervous energy but otherwise great for quick, good quality feed.

Small pokies venue can never get a machine. Very local oriented. Sports Bar is small although has many TVs, guaranteed to have AFL, boxing, basketball etc live. TAB always has punters. Has an upstairs function room, with balcony; views of Clayton Rd and Clayton station. Minimal parking on Haughton rd. Very close to public transport; buses and trains.

Wanted to book a table on Sunday night to watch the footy during Covid restrictions when we couldn't visit others homes and the team were super accommodating. They set a group of us up near a screen when having a meal - very much appreciated for organising guys, thank you!

Food was great, but even better was the service. Of particular note was one of the service staff promptly updating me on the status of my food after noting me looking slightly impatient - and I hadn't even asked. This event was a highlight of my evening, and has definitely won my loyalty.

After renovation, the food taste changed! The best food you can find seriously you will be surprised because of food! And all variety of drinks.this is the best in clayton. Seems like not many people know about this great food place!

The Team were really lovely.
There wasn't really parking and our table wasn't ready but that didn't really bother us.
The food took a long while but was nice and hot.
The sweet potato fries are absolutely AMAZING and a must have.
Our actual meals weren't very good. We had the beef burger and a parma. They were pretty below average.

Finally stopped in for dinner after having driven past so often.

Nice set up, cosy but not so close to other tables that you feel crowded in.
Food was delicious. The salmon was juicy with a perfectly crispy skin and the southern chicken burger was fantastic, very spicy.
Good sized portions focussing on quality.

We were well looked after by John and the rest of the friendly team.

Nice little clean and tidy pub with poker machines, the staff made it with their friendly service, you get free coffee if you play the pokies,

I booked for a large group of 18 and the meal preorder was well managed. Thankyou for a great lunch which was enjoyed by all.

Pokies joint. Local community spot. Pokies and the venues aren't due redemption just cos they occasionally pay out

Clean, polite. Can be forgetful when setting larger tables up for dinner service but otherwise very polite

I went there on a weekday at 5pm and asked if the happy hour was still on and the lady at the bar said that they weren't doing happy hour even if it's stated outside happy hour was on from 4pm to 6pm every weekday.
Despite that, me and my mate decided to have a couple of beers anyway, the place is nice and beers selection is good. The staff is alright
I might come back to try the kitchen as well since I am living in the area.

At least for Clayton lunch, I always find my way to The Clayton Hotel. Not only do they serve great food, but they also treat you like a VIP. They have the same level of respect and service to frequent visitors like me as well as those who visited them for the first time. That’s hospitality at its finest. That makes my lunches at Clayton Hotel even more special and memorable. I highly recommend them!

The Chicken Parma and Linguini Prawn & Chilli taste amazing! Very comfy environment and the lady Shaz have great table service!

What a nice surprise. Food was delicious. The kids chose from the kids menu and they were not only great but substantial in size. My parma was huge.gave my chips away and my husband had the salmon which he smashed. But above all the service was fantastic! Compliments to the staff that served us Saturday night. Will definitely be going back.

Came late on Tuesday night with a mate, had table service and food was exactly what we had in mind. I had the southern chicken burger and my friend had the parma. Both delicious and of good quantity. Great service from all the staff we interacted with. Will be our go to local spot from now on. Only warning is that the chicken in the burger is pretty spicy and took me by surprise - I normally take spice well but the morning after was not very pleasant (if you know what I meant ;). But that's just me and I am sure some of you would be fine and/or like a challenge. Good luck.

Very tasty food, generous portions in right price. Fast service and friendly staff. Good coffee and good selection of wine and beer. It's a great place for family lunch.

What a fantastic place! We were there with my friend Erika last Friday. Evelyn immediately detected us being Latinas, and started the friendliest conversation. Then we met José and Wilfredo, and then more super friendly warm people. We had an amazing time. We are already planning going back. It's a bit of a trip, we live in Fitzroy!
