First time enjoying this pub and we were pleasantly surprised! Great venue, very relaxed, cold drinks and the food was incredible! Like really good!
Also, John was great, very attentive and nice to talk too.
Great job

I was really looking forward to this place and was so disappointed. The manager was really rude and judging and I would not recommend this stuffy place.

We very much enjoyed our dinner last night. The food was delicious and of great quality. We were very well looked after by very attentive and lovely staff. The ambience of the restaurant is very nice. We highly recommend this place for a special dinner experience.

Great quality food, great service (for the most part).

I come here once a week and I always enjoy my meal. The service is mostly excellent. On the odd occasion it can be a challenge to get someone's attention, but it's usually excellent.

The one thing I love about this place - the quality of ingredients, especially the meat. I love dumplings, but I usually dislike the quality of meat typically found in dumplings (like dim sums).

Great food and service, however got slammed with a 1.5% surcharge for using my MasterCard. Never anything so high!

Great looking place and food was quite good but the service was weird. We (group of 7) ordered individual entree’s and mains etc yet they came out on share plates. We had a main and an entree of calamari and it all came on one plate! 3 people ordered fish for main - all on one plate. At least that way the chefs don’t have to worry about equal servings - just let the punters fight it out. We hadn’t had it explained and none of us had experienced this before. Weird. Sort of spoiled a good but expensive evening!

I want to preface this with: its never the issue that there is a problem, its how a person (business) deals with it. Something will go wrong at some point, thats life.

With this being said the service at their Chinese fusion mess of a menu is fine, with very nice cocktails.

Prices are stoooopid expensive, for honestly mostly little better than food court style for some dishes to sublime and expertly produced expressions of culinary prowess. The former is sweet and sour pork, which was served incorrectly, to the tom yuk which is worth the cost of admission. This poor sweet and sour was instantly addressed when raised with staff and given this it may of been a one off, though not a write off.

Entrees are underwhelming throughout with silky and firm tofu apparently an interchangeable term. We legit sampled all save the shai mii, and the xiao long bao being underdone and flavourless. The fried ice cream is passable, but could use more syrup to hold the milo dustings.

Overall: served familiar dishes to older anglo austrlians, which is their market so i cant fault them too much on that. Dont call your guests ‘team’, just dont. Not worth returning if you want proper fusion, worth it to satisfy mature crowds with few taste buds left before they waddle back to their nursing home having wasted their pension. Payment. I will shokugeki your head chef with two days notice.

Such a terrible experience! Attended with friends to try the food for a possible engagement party venue and it was horrible. Food was ok but definitely not worth $90 per head. Waited hours for the food and was offered no discount. After paying the bill, we were chased out by a waitress screaming ‘you haven’t paid’ which was extremely embarrassing/unprofessional. Would definitely not recommend. Such a shame.

Wonderful cosy atmosphere with great service. The salted egg prawns were perfectly cooked and the sweetness of the prawn really came through. The Peaking duck was flavoursome with more duck meat than I would normally expect.

Food ok, over priced, waiters passing on wrong orders, not for kids no menu can't accommodate for the young ones, noise bar not a restaurant for a relaxing meal.

With the interior designed like a fancy overseas hotel theres a lot about this "pub" that will polarise opinions.

Comprehensive drinks menu with mostly attentive and present service the foundations of something good are there.

If you're someone that orders more than the mainstream "combination fried rice/dumplings/spring rolls" combo when you eat Chinese food then the fare here will likely disappoint. The attempt at refinement leaves you paying about double what you would somewhere on little bourke st but with half the flavour.

My experience can be summed up as "close but not quite" and with a few tweaks could surely be a major hit.

Excellent food, service and venue. We now go there several times a month and had a dinner for 12 last night.

The Albert Park Hotel experience was disappointing.

On a positive note, the interior was lovely and modern. The staff were warm.

However, the food was super expensive in respect to its proportions. Perhaps you're paying more to experience the environment than a decent meal. Desserts included a chocolate bao, which was reminiscent of a packet shake and bake chocolate cake. The fried ice cream serving was stingy as you receive one scoop for a price of what I recall to be $12. The singapore noodles were dry. The peking duck was fine. I think this experience indicates that if you want good chinese food - you're better off to go to an authentic Chinese restaurant!

Exceptional dining experience now that the VicAsia people have taken over the kitchen. Highly recommended and not too expensive

I wasn't looking forward to pub food for a catchup with some mates, but surprise surprise it was absolutely delicious Cantonese/Malaysian chinese food. Portions are a little on the small side for the price in my opinion, but it was absolutely delicious.

Review of public bar: Beautifully stylishly renovated corner hotel-pub. Most of the indoor footprint is restaurant (Cantonese) rather than pub now, but there is a small public bar with a handful of tables at the front and there are several tables in the pavement outside. Drinks: A fairly standard selection of beers. Food: Cannot speak for the restaurant, but sadly the short list of bar snacks just has some canape-proportioned Chinese menu starter items (spring rolls, prawn crackers etc), quite expensively priced, so little to line the stomach.
