Excellent food. Service friendly and warm if a bit slow at times. Incredibly busy so a testament to the food quality.
Highly recommend.

Templestowe Living Room hosted 29 people for a retirement function and we were super impressed with the food and service. It’s unusual to receive such delicious food when catering for a large number. They were also super considerate when being out food to note that someone was speaking and so they held onto her meal until she was ready. Would definitely recommend for a large group gathering.

Wonderful service. Polite attentive and thoughtful. Food was wonderful (except for sticky date pudding). Will be back again.

Great table service, the gentlemen was exceptional. I ordered the barramundi. I have dreamt about it for the past week. Highly recommend

Always enjoy dinner here. Could only get an 8pm booking. Order taken quickly and a bottle of wine and water delivered as expected.
However, it took about 40 minutes for the garlic bread to come and an hour and ten minutes for the main course to come. Too late to eat! We almost finished the wine before the main meal arrived.
Disappointing as we really like this place. There seemed to be plenty of waiters but maybe not enough kitchen staff?

Went for brunch on Suncay. The light lunch menu had a very good selection. My salmon turkish bread roll
was completely diasappointing. I opened the roll in search of salmon. There was so little salmon. And the rest of the menu stated ingredients was equally very very low in quantity. Majority of ingredientents came in the form of rocket. Any very ordinary cafe would have done better. The chips which came with it were very good but this is a very over priced and very high carb lunch. Needs a rethink. More generosity and care. Living Room has a reputation. Hard to see why.

Wait staff was fantastic, bruschetta delicious but the mains were very ordinary. Lamb Wellington had dry lamb shoulder, raw pastry and a whole portabello mushroom as opposed to a duxelle and was also lacking any sauce (lentils were the best part). Scallop risotto incredibly bland, and scallops overcooked. Gnocchi was nice. Given the price, very disappointed especially because previous experiences have been positive.

I have had dinner several times and enjoyed the food and experience every time. But on my latest meal last Tuesday I was very disappointed with the dessert which was the sticky date pudding which I have enjoyed on previous visits. The pudding was just warm and just didn’t taste right. My wife tasted it and he comment was it’s very cake like and under cooked. A bit disappointed but I will return as everyone has a bad day now and then.

This place is very consistent year in and out if lunch is what you need or even coffee and cake.

I provided this restaurant the opportunity to respond to this very disturbing incident and 1 week has passed without a response.

We are regular customers of many years and have celebrated lots of special occasions in your restaurant. We are members of your VIP club. We also supported your restaurant during lock down by ordering take away to ensure the restaurant could continue post lock down.

Last Saturday night (05Feb 22) we had a reservation @ 5.45pm for 4 people. When I made the reservation, I was told anytime between 5.30pm and 6pm would be okay and that the restaurant needed the table back by 8pm I agreed to this.

My husband and I arrived just before 6pm and our guests were already seated. We were reminded at this time that the table is needed back by 8pm. Again, we were okay with this. We ordered our meals, service by our waiter was quite attentive and our meals were good. The main course did take some time to come to the table, not really a problem, but this did take up some of our precious time at the table.
After our main course we were offered dessert and coffee. We declined this as we wanted to finish our drinks as we were mindful of the time and wanted to be considerate enough to ensure the table would be vacated by 8pm.
After this another waiter (name unknown - young male with dark hair) approached our guest at 7.50pm and told him it was time to leave. We discussed this amongst ourselves at our table and decided there was sufficient time to finish our drinks so we could be out by 8pm. The waiter had spoken to our guest in a very rude bordering on aggressive manner. I do not know this waiter - I think maybe he is new - young male with dark hair.

I then raised this issue with one of your regular staff - Adam, I think? (Duty manager) By this time we were standing at the counter - I said to Adam I was disappointed to be treated and spoken to in such a rude manner and reminded him that it was not yet 8pm. He absolutely shocked me by responding aggressively and waiving his finger at me saying "You have no reason to be disappointed, I told you 3 times to leave" - please understand it was not yet 8pm. I then shared with Adam that our main course took some time to reach our table and I am really glad that we didn't order dessert and coffee and his response was 'So did everyone's, now leave'

He then proceeded to chastise me about the fact that my husband and I arrived late for our 5.45pm reservation - we arrived just before 6pm. I am not sure what the relevance of this was but I certainly do not appreciate a waiter taking me to task for arriving a few minutes late. I pointed out the time to Adam? (still not 8pm) and to my shock he waived his hand at me and said "Just Get Out! "

This was all so unnecessary as there was never any indication from us that our table would not be vacated by 8pm. We agreed verbally that we would vacate the table in time and then made every move to ensure this happened.

Most importantly the staff should have used alternative language when speaking to a customer, in a crowded restaurant, within hearing distance of other patrons.

I have never ever been treated or spoken to in such an appalling manner by any wait staff in any restaurant without any justification. This was very embarrassing. We will not return to Templestowe Living room after many years of loyal patronage. I will also caution anyone else to be aware that this restaurant can treat their loyal customers in such a disgraceful way.

At no time did we delay our departure from the table. We were out in the street @ 7.58pm. This behaviour has now cost this restaurant our patronage. Adam and the wait staff involved definitely need some training in customer service when under time constraints.

Nice cosy restaurant with a nice menu. Steak cooked as requested, magnificent. Great atmosphere and service.

From the number of occasions I have dined at Living Room the meals have been of a consistently good standard. But today I ordered oysters kilpatrick and the oysters were mushy and did not have the texture of normal oysters. I hope this is a one off and will still return for the other items on the menu that I usually enjoy.

Positives are definitely the ambience, calamari and the pastas.
But as a whole I am surprised it is so highly rated. It is a very average restaurant that is clearly overcharging and under-serving.
The steak was just burnt and dry with uncooked potato (I think) sides and extremely bitter mustard on top.
Barramundi felt like it was just steamed and had no flavour.
While our waitress was good.rest of the staff looked uninterested and probably tired.truly hoping it was not just towards us, as their typical clientele was clearly not very diverse.

Oysters were not fresh - food was overpriced for what it was to be honest and wait staff basically wanted us out the restaurant so they could go home - eventually our table and the other table were asked to leave at 9: 30 despite the opening time being listed till 10pm

A favourite but not many menu changes. Would like to see a bit more seasonal imagination. Service always good, pricing reasonable. A few on this last visit had cold food, we did let them know but not much reaction.
