Taco Bill - Russell St reviews
76I went there for my boyfriend’s birthday and we got free Mexican hat! The staff was great and food good:)
If I have been with my wife for 20 years and 5 months, I have been coming here for 20 years and 4 months 3 weeks, and I don't think the prices or the food have changed significantly. Which is not a problem.
The staff on the night we were last here were great, but it was a quite busy and service was slightly slower than we were hoping (had tickets for an 8: 30 movie) but a table of 8 had just ordered so all to be expected.
Ate, got the dessert as a takeaway and got to the movie on time.
Taco Bill, No Gracias! Mid range restaurant prices for microwave quality food.
Ordered the quesadilla, the plate it was served on was so hot it scarred the wooden table. The food tasted like it had been reheated up in a microwave (mushy, soggy, excessively hot). I could not taste any cheese whatsoever despite the dish being labelled a quesadilla. Una quesadilla sin queso?
I have been to Mexico and know good Mexican food and this aint it!
Love this place, great sangria good discounts excellent margaritas fresh good and great staff that make you feel welcome especially south Melbourne and Russell St
Terrible service!
Every table around us was given an entree of chips with salsa while we were ignored.
I wasn’t asked if I wanted rice or salad.
They brought out our food and ended up switching it because it belonged to the table next to us, and the meals were not cooked again even when we had already started eating the food, so I was given a strangers leftovers.
My friend also hurt her hand on the plate because we weren’t told it was hot.
This place was our favourite in Melbourne. A total gem. Great food, even better drinks. When we come back, we’ll come here over and over again
It's the real deal guys, the real authentic Mexican experience! The restaurant is dirty but the food tastes great! Good value. Highly recommend.
Staff were lovely and the food was exactly as expected.
***Forever 4-stars because almost everyone I know who has eaten there, including myself, has a story of 'Taco Poisoning' or becoming very ill a day or so after eating there. It's one of those places, like many others in Melbourne, that has always been known to be a bit of a gamble as far as food safety goes but dammit it's so delicious we'll take the risk. I'll remove this part of the review if they ever get a HACCP certification. ***
Happened upon this great little Mexican place while here in Melbourne city.
Fast service, well presented food that tasted great.
We eat Mexican around the world and this was a high quality meal.
Not a huge place but cosy & comfortable with very reasonable prices for their food and drinks.will be back when in Melb next time.
Reasonably priced and tasty Mexican dishes. Nice service, place is neat and tidy. Ordered 3 dishes during lunch hour, amount served was more than enough for 2 medium build adults and a kid.
Great value Mexican lunch
Tucked near the corner of Russell and Bourke, Taco Bill Russell has been a regular lunch haunt for quite a few years. Recently renovated the restaurant is cosy and not too busy during lunch.
The extreme lunch special is a great value meal of a nice blend of tacos, nachos and burritos.
Make sure your are hungry.
Couple of young friends and I ordered drinks and maybe there’s some bias. She did not check our ID yet all being over 18. Perhaps coincidentally our service was slow and many people after us received their drinks before us. This kind of attitude is not appreciated and if there was an American tipping service she’d get close to nothing. Very disappointed:/
Went for a Friday lunch, meals took an hour to come out and room was stinking hot. Standard meals were priced fairly (around $13), healthy foods e.g. Their Salad was extremely overpriced at $20. It should never cost this much to choose a healthier option with less ingredients. Will I be going back there? No.
Cheap Mexican eats in a cosy, relaxed atmosphere. Perfect for casual dining or a post party carb fix on a budget.
The extensive menu offers a wide variety of authentic and traditional Mexican cuisine... Nachos Supremos, Enchiladas, Taquitos, Quasadillas, Fajitas, Burritos, as well as sharing menu options ($30-35 pp) and a Mexican dessert menu. Hello Ice Cream Nachos and Chocolate Tacos!
Drinks menu includes vino, spirits, tequila, sangria and a selection of frozen margaritas with triple sec, tequila, lemon and lime.
Today was an amazing day eating there, the quality of the nachos is great, the quesadillas very yummy, amazing taste btw! I was served by a Colombian girls who help us out whit everything.
