Steels Gate Wines

Had a wonderful experience - the ambience, the hospitality, the food and the wines all amazing.

I visited Steels Gate as part of a wine tour through Evergreen Winery Tours for my 30th birthday. I feel so lucky I picked Steels Gate for our lunch option; it was absolutely incredible and a real highlight of the day for us for both food and wine! The food was stunning and their kitchen was very accommodating of my difficult allergies, and the wines were our favourite of the day. The staff were very attentive to our group for our 3 course meal, wine tasting and drink orders. Definitely a hidden gem in the Yarra, and definitely coming back for more food and wine!

Delicious on every level.
I, had the Barramundi my partner had the Lamb. This would be one of the best lunches, I have ever had (I eat out a lot). Followed by Chocolate cheesecake with a Almond crum for dessert. 10/10.my complaint to myself is, I didn't take a pic to post on here.

It was our first winery visit after years Covid pandemic, lucky the weather was super nice we had a chilled day sitting at their best spot to enjoy their wine, food and good views,
Owners and staffs are friendly also highly recommend their sparkling wine we bought 3 bottles home

Beautiful winery with beautiful owners and wines! My favourite are the Chardonnay and the Bastardo!

Due to staff shortage, we couldn’t do the wine tasting, but we still had a few glasses of wine and they were j credibly smooth. The scenic view and friendly staff made it one of the best wineries.

An absolutely fabulous experience! We visited as part of my sisters Bridal shower with a group of 20 and the wine tasting conducted by Matt was exceptional. My only negative is that we didn't eat here as the food coming out looked incredible! Big thanks to Brad and the team for being so amazing and accommodating. Will definitely be back!

Family environment to join and was so tempted with whatever they were creating in the room towards the bathroom area! It was like a wreath? Whatever it's called out of twigs? That looked really fun! Had like a class on how to make it there.

Today, nestled amongst the beautiful green hills of the Yarra Valley, I had the pleasure of dining at Steels Gate Wines. The food was modern and well executed. I had the salmon which was nicely seared but perfectly pink on the inside. My wife had the chicken curry that had a rich sauce that had been made from first principles. One of our party who has dietary restrictions was made a delightful dish that was by no means a second prize. The wine is excellent and the staff will help you pick the perfect accompaniment to your dish without making you feel like a wine idiot. I can really recommend this venue and I hope you enjoy as much as we did.

Your response to my one star was to immediately assume that the reason why we gave this place a one star was because of your mask wearing policy. Our party of 12 had no issues with complying to mask rules. We have given this place a 1 star review for many reasons. (1) We were told to be quiet, being a party of 12 - we were not screaming or running arround and mind you there was a group being just as loud outside however they were not told off. (2) Your food was bland, had no flavour and half cold (3) In the middle of standing up and PUTTING OUR MASKS ON, one of your staff went out of their way to stop their conversation with another customer, come over to our table and tell us to put our masks on AS THEY JUST STOOD UP. I can say at least 5 other people walked past our table with no masks, and not one of them was told off. We are understanding of the government requirments and policies regarding the safety of staff & other customers however when it is reinforced on our table only - thats when it becomes a problem. Also on a side note, we were the only asian group in the entire restaurant. Not sure if this ridiculous treatment from some staff had anything to do with it.

Lovely place to enjoy some good food and wine. The new winter menu is absolutely unreal along with the Pinot noir!

Absolute hidden gem. Wine was wonderful (Graciano and the Riesling were my highlights), the food was delicious and had a gorgeous setting. The estate staff were knowledgeable, friendly, fun and helpful. Very surprising find.
