State Theatre reviews
57Saw Chicago here. Beautiful theatre with plenty of seating. Staff are friendly and helpful. Parking is very expensive compared to others around $21 flat on a Sunday. The building is well maintained. It's difficult to find the carpark after hours. More signage would be appreciated. Would definitely like to see more shows here in the near future.
Such class and sophistication. The state theatre is comfortable, beautiful and mashes for a great night out. Highly recommend seeing any show here
Gorgeous theatre, other worldly design and experience. Helpful staff, easy to navigate and just so beautiful.
I saw the musical Chicago here last week. It's a beautiful theatre. I would definitely recommend seeing a show here. The eateries fill up quickly before the show so get there early if you want to eat beforehand. Order intermission drinks before the show so you don't have to wait in line. Enjoy!
A magnificent venue with great viewing and sound. We've attended many shows here and enjoyed the whole experience. Very clean toilets and the cafe is handy for coffee and meals. Plenty of parking too.
Very conveniently located to all public transport and easy parking at and close to the venue. Use the public car parks lose to the building (3 minutes walk) and save over 70% parking cost.:)
Great atmosphere and a fairly trippy way to the bottom of the escalators with all the mirrors reflecting different lights and angles. Seats are comfortable in the theatre with great sound reproduction.
"Chicago" at the State Theatre. Whatever else you do please don't miss this! Wonderful cast - Natalie Basingyhwaite - Roxy Hart was wonderful. Alina Chidzey - Valma Kelly,
I love everything about this place from the architecture to the tidy lavatory to the friendly service attendants. Love every show I see here!
Awesome high class theatre with at least 3 stages on the go at any one time, plenty to choose from. Check your directions if you are driving yourself, car park underneath can be hard to find, recommend uber or taxi, we walked from our hotel.
Saw the show "Chicago"! What a fantastic performance. Thinking of going again. Sat in Row S, in the stalls and still had an excellent view. Only drawback, as with any stage show, is the queue for the ladies at interval. Overall, a great night out, would Highly Recommend!
Well maintained theatre. Staff excellent and helpful. Ticket box staff friendly. Seats comfortable. Very accessible theatre for all ages.
Beautiful theatre with friendly helpful staff. I don't think there is a seat in the house with poor vision of the stage.
I have found on occasions the seats to be uncomfortable but they are VERY spacious - lots of leg room and shoulder room.
The State Theatre, indeed the entire Melbourne Arts Centre, is truly a most fabulous place for attending any artistic performance. It is comfortable. It is plush. And. It is a pleasure. Highly recommended.
Easy parking under the theatre, no pre-book though, we like to get a little something to eat and drink from the Allegro cafe in the foyer before a show
A superb large theatre. Ideal for opera or big musical productions. A beautiful and comfortable modern interior. Great foyers.
Visited here to watch Chicago, was shocked at how many people were able to enter the theatre well and truly after the show had started, constantly had a flashlight shined at me throughout the show whilst staff were showing latecomers and booze hounds to their seats. What ever happened to good old fashioned theatre etiquette.
Went to see Chicago recently.grand place.but with a surprisingly small stage. Foyer, bars, cafes all give a feeling of an adventure and that of a really impressive place as you go in and a large seating capacity with three tiers of balconies! Experience overall.
Modernisation of shakespear's Romeo and Juliet. Beautiful Choreograhy. Well done Opera Australia, Arts Centre, Cast and Crew.
