Spice of India Restaurant

Nice food. The restaurant won’t win any awards for cleanliness inside and out, with the interior lacking attention to detail and the transition from the dining area to the bathrooms being awkward, sticky tables and just a sense of overall grimy feel. The food however was good. Nice and hot and nice levels of taste and perceived freshness. Service was adequate. If you are after a cost effective Indian dining experience in an area that is away from the bustle of main town, then this place would get my vote.

Please update your opening hours. I drove up Monday night after checking your opening hours online and drove to a closed restaurant.

I’ve decided to give this place 5 stars because of its delicious food and super friendly service. We ordered 3 mains of decent size, and the chicken vindaloo was the best of the three. We strongly recommend this dish if you like spicy food.

Friendly service & attentive staff. A variety of menu options, freshly cooked to our palate. Two mains and a rice, with roti was plenty to feed 3 adults. An effective heater warmed the whole room on a chilly night. Value for money and very tasty food.

Love it, great place, great food and the table by the fire was nice and cosy on a freezing cold night.

Quick service, very nice environment. The food was great and the ability to choose your spice was fantastic for us who liked food less spicy. All around good restaurant, enjoyed the evening.

The food is amazing. We have friends that come regularly and say there is often a wait for food, but we didn’t experience that. Totally polite and friendly staff. We found the prices very reasonable. Can’t wait to go back for more! Btw I DIDN’T GET PAID FOR THIS REVIEW as some silly person suggests below.

The staff, especially the lady that served us, were lovely! The restaurant itself is gorgeous, in a cute cottage style building, with gazebo and fairy lights outside!

On Sunday I ordered a Chicken and Lamb briyani, it had no flavours at all. No salt and I ordered it to be very spicy, she asked me to rate the spiciness out of 10 and I said 8 when I ordered the food, when I tasted it the spicy level was probably around 1. Total waste of money!

Really delicious food & nice service. Have visited Daylesford a few times & this restaurant is much better than the alternative in the centre of town. Dahl is especially yummy.

If I could I would rate them a 10/10. Indian food is one of my absolute favs. It is safe to say that I have tried almost every Indian restaurant in Melbourne and nothing is close to what I've eaten in India and thus to commence my birthday I asked for anything but Indian, we were driving back home from Daylesford and all we could hear in every other place was "Kitchens Closed". When all else fails, Indian it had to be. We walked in and though they were about to close the chef agreed on serving us- God Bless Him! We were spectacle on what was going to be served as we've had multiple horrendous experiences in the past but to my surprise the food was extra ordinarily delicious. UNDOUBTEDLY THE BEST INDIAN MEAL I HAVE EATEN IN VICTORIA. I CANNOT WAIT FOR YOU GUYS TO OPEN UP IN MELBOURNE, would love to be notified when that happens! The Samosa and Malai Kofta was BOMB so we had to reorder and do a take away. Also, the Onion Bajis were delicious! I will drive again only for their service and food.:)
