Space Hotel

It's a nice hotel and it is in the CBD so you are colse to everything you want and also the stay doesn't cost you too much comparison with others.

I stayed here for two nights, good stuffs, good facilities, nice bed, the only thing could be better is soundproof! I kept hearing somebody singing beside my room….

Best hostel in Melbourne and the BEST private rooms I've ever seen in budget accommodation anywhere in the world. Book the private ensuite with balcony - the views are amazing and the rooms are really modern - including the bathroom - which was a insane surprise for the price. Amarnath the General Manager there is super welcoming and really knows how to run a venue in these tough times - it was in superb condition. Facilities blew me away, and the location is good too. I also stayed in a single private room too when I was by myself and it was so good for what I needed. Next time I go to Melbourne I'm staying here again, no questions asked. The private ensuite with balcony rivals any budget hotel in the area (the room size, balcony size and view, and bathroom are all bigger and better). Cheers guys!

Worst motel Hands down! They fill it full of junkies and omg the bed bugs don't get me started! DONT STAY HERE IF U HAVE AN INCH OF SELF RESPECT!

Hi guys i never had a hotel like that.separate shared bathroom with other people, AC not working properly, no water no coffee, no drinks, too much noise outside.it was like a school hostel unable to access washroom when u need.not recommended.overcharging.

Stayed for the first time near the end of 2020. I can't believe that this place has really great looking rooms on all levels, stayed in one luxury room with a spa bath!

Many rooms have a view of the city landscape, and a great kitchen with city views on level 5. And never seen such a large cinema screen with foxtel tv channels of your choice, and a excercise room with a few machines to use for a great workout. Each level has it, s great looks of the paintwork and pictures too. Very well designed seperate toilets and showers on each level.

Don't book here guys poor quality service disrespectful staff. Rooms have bed bugs on 7th floor air-conditioning NEVER WORKS! Neither does alarm clocks. Place is like a frat house on weekends so good luck sleeping lol

The rooms are really not cozy and there isn‘t truly a communal space to relax, but the fitness room is really nice and the rooftop as well as the terrace around the kitchen area are phenomenalat least around the time I was there, the prices were absolutely reasonable

Edit: There are some communal spaces, but I found non of them to be very inviting to linger/relax/meet other travelers)

Clean and secure accomodation in a private room with great views. Excellent facilities including laundry, kitchen, gym and movie theatre. Massive outdoor terrace. Non intrusive but first class service from all the staff.great location to all the sights in Melbourne. Fantastic 6 week stay! Thankyou space hotel.

I had an incredible stay at Space Hotel and will definitely pick to stay here next time I visit. Facilities were fantastic, e.g basic gym, huge kitchen, laundry and clean bathrooms/bed rooms. Great, friendly staff. Can't recommend enough.

Room was nice but bathroom felt like public toilet. Cleaned regularly but not well, spots of dried poo left behind, dirt and calcium stains on the glass and in cracks. Not amazing

In the wee hours of a Sunday I reserved a room online but just to make sure I called the hotel after to confirm. To my embarrassment the kind consultant who answered my call pointed out that I had reserved a room for January next year. I eventually arrived at the reception with my boyfriend. The receptionist - Mick - was actually the one who answered my call earlier; he was very understanding and helpful and advised me how to cancel my existing reservation so he could assist me reserve a new one for the date originally intended. Mick was more than happy to answer all my questions.

If this ends up being long, I'll just preface this with DO NOT STAY HERE

To start, we booked a private room with a 'shared bathroom' for over $100 a night for a week. The 'shared bathrooms' are a decent walk from the room and 99% flooded and messy, where do you see metal toilets besides run down trains and street toilets?
It was essentially just a room with an albeit comfy bed, a desk and a TV that is unwatchable due to awful signal.
The air con is dated and infuriating, it cant be turned off - only dialled up and down which basically results in 2 settings - freezing cold and way too hot. Melbourne isn't exactly tropical so being able to turn it off is a must.

Next - the internet. There is paid internet (more on that later) and free internet but its limited at 250mb a day and only works in certain areas and sometimes not at all, and anyone who has half a brain cell (which the owners clearly lack) knows they any sort of social media use could chew through 250mb before breakfast.

When we saw the wifi situation we went to reception to check if because we paid for the private room it was different for us, as the 'hotel' does have lots of dorm rooms and paid wifi in hostels is commonplace in Australia. But we were only given a free hour on the 'premium told that if we wanted wifi we could use the free (broken) internet or cough up for the paid internet.

The paid internet is even more infuriating. What year is it? 2004? $20 for 4GB of internet is criminal and shows how clueless the hotel (its not a hotel - its a hostel) is to what their guests need. The craziest thing is the insanely expensive paid internet did not even work during our free hour, if i had paid for that steaming pile of manure i would have checked out right then.

If you're coming here for a comfy city break forget it, and even if you are a backpacker looking to stay in a dorm as well, forget it. No one talks to each other, the fridges are full of old food and bags and alcohol is banned throughout, besides their overpriced and boring bar downstairs.

It's close to public transport. The room was big enough for a queen bed and bunk beds and a stocked bathroom

Room was small, but it’s a hostel, so couldn’t expect much more.
Bathrooms were disgusting. Sign in there said they are cleaned several times a day. I do not believe that at all. I didn’t even shower that day, that was how bad it was. Also bathrooms/showers are unisex. The description said it was “shared” but did not say “unisex”.
Very loud and drunk men next door; noise was unbearable. Asked reception to tell them to keep it quiet, but even so, the noise did not decrease. Did not feel safe as a female with guests like that next door.
Booked for two nights, but checked out after one night as it was not bearable. Had to find another hotel to stay at.
Front desk was very polite and apologetic, however no refund was given for checking out a day early.
I have learnt my lesson, to spend a bit more money and opt for a reputable hotel.

My favourite place to stay in the city. Walking distance to Melbourne central station. Close to shopping and transport. Staff are extremely friends and you can chose what sort of room you want. I've stayed here in a large groups before or for a romantic melboure getaway and I've loved it everytime.

Stayed here last month and had an absolutely horrible experience. Was placed in an 8 person room rather than the 6 person I had paid for but after already having traveled all day and brought my stuff upstairs and taking forever to be able to view my booking online bc the free internet provided was too slow to view my account and the room had awful reception for my data plan I confirmed I had in fact paid for a 6 person, tried to do this downstairs at reception but they just assured me incorrectly I had paid for an 8 person. I go downstairs and after what was a very painful process of getting a refund to reflect paying for the 8 person room I go back upstairs. The room smells bad, but it's a hostel they can get smelly. Little do I know that it's going to get a whole lot worse whoever was staying in the room hasn't been showering in who knows how long and whenever he is in the room I could literally smell him from the hallway before I open the door and when I do open the door it was unbearable. So after putting up with this for 3 days and asking for air fresheners/if they could talk to the guy or do something I cave and just want to upgrade to a private room. THEY TELL ME I WILL HAVE TO PAY FOR THE PRIVATE ROOM AND MY BED IN THE SHARED ROOM. I was so upset but also needed a couple day break from the room so ended up booking a room at flinders backpackers and staying there a couple days and just using the locker in my room to store my bag/see if smelly guy had left and double paying until he was gone but not getting another room at space hotel not wanting to give this hotel any more money. I have never heard of a hotel or hostel not letting you upgrade a room for any reason if there was availability, and I was just upgrading to get out of that room because there was a problem, and I told them this and they were completely unhelpful. I could keep going but I think I've made my point I hate leaving negative reviews but I really feel like I was treated exceptionally poorly and taken advantage of here.

The services and facilities are great. Lots of help and advice received. Rooms are fine and toilets clean.
