Space Hotel

A typical downtown hostel; centrally located, busy, and with little personal touch. One highlight is definitely the rooftop with its great views of the Melbourne skyline.

The rooms are clean, but don’t have windows that open. Unfortunately the AC is a bit weak so that the air in (my room at least) was never particularly good.

Where do I start.firstly Space hotel has been nothing but accomdating to my needs for 8 years now and counting.

Since the day I landed in Melbourne from Sydney, it has always been the place I called my 2nd home.
From all the memories I've experienced here, which I assure you there's been an abundance of, & the many friendships I've made, & staff who've always went above n beyond for me.
Am truly grateful

I've always recommended this place to people for years now and have surely told hundreds of people over the time.

First time in a hostel. And a really good experience! Rooms are big enough, kitchen & bathrooms clean! Love it!

Mostly clean rooms and amenities, though the noisiest hostel I’ve stayed in and I’ve stayed in a lot. Reception is 24 hours, though average wait time about 15 minutes with one staff on.

Staying here for 8 days and we are on the 5th day and I can say that already my stay here has been amazing. For the price and what you can do here it really is worth the value. The shower has hot running water with really good water pressure which you won’t even get at a pricier 4-5 star hotel. The manager for Space Hotel is super lovely same with all the staff here! Staying here has been great as it’s close to all of the main shops and we don’t need to walk too far. If you are looking for somewhere to stay that’s affordable I could not recommend Space Hotel enough!

Excellent accommodation - very clean, with great facilities and brilliant service. The location is great too, directly opposite the Old Melbourne Gaol. Will definitely be back

I was expecting good things from this hostel and was slightly disappointed. The rooms weren't that clean, the kitchen was filthy - apart from the morning which seemed to be the only time everything was clean - bathrooms were disgusting, every time I went in, the floor was soaking wet from where the shower water doesn't drain properly and was just dirty. Staff around the hostel weren't friendly, however reception were lovely! Location is good for going into the CBD.

Very disappointing that you won’t fully refund people who had to cancel their booking when Covid first came out. People already suffered enough loss and you just took more from them. Plenty of other companies have given refunds and changed their policy due to circumstances.

Close to city for my work as there for a week Sunday 3rd April- Saturday 9th April Sun, private clean room and staff are pleasant.
Elephant in the room! - very small amount of city dwellers that seems to be in the category of social and mental health issues, pushing their right of privilege onto others. Respect Smile, Ignore, Walk Away and all will be ok.

The view was nice. We had a ensuite with balcony.

We had a serviced room which didn't get serviced until the 5th day when we had to ask for it.

The TV while it did turn on and work, would constantly just freak out distort and you cannot stream to it, free-to-air is the only option.

I would have been able to forgive all of this if they bed was comfortable but the bed was the worst part of the whole room. The mattress was opd and worn out and gad sagged in the middle. After 2 nights my partner and I both had incredibly sore backs. We legimately spent an evening on the floor instead of the bed because it was causing us so much pain.

I couldn't possibly recommend anyone stay here, your body deserves so much better than the awful mattresses they have.

Perfect Spot for when you are in Melbourne.

Imagine having breakfast with amazing city views on the kitchen balcony or sun bathing on the roof followed by a dip in the hot tub.
Then going out for a stroll in the city and coming back to cooking pizza in the kitchen and then enjoying it in the cinema watching a classic on Foxtel.
That was our day at Space.

- rooftop view of the city!
- safe and comfortable atmosphere
- friendly, inclusive and knowledgeable staff and management - always on hand day or night (special shout out to Simon for exceeding my expectations
across the board).
- The most comfortable beds ever!
- Facilities included a rooftop spa and area with deck chairs and space for suntanning, gym, movie room, excellent kitchen and indoor/outdoor dining area, tea and coffee complementary, tour desk at reception, meeting room for a quiet work space and laundry room.

Great hostel with lovely staff and amazing facilities such as the cinema room and the rooftop with a hot tub which I really enjoyed! Kitchen is good too always kept clean which is great and the rooms are so lovely and have really comfortable beds with great working aircon I would absolutely recommend staying here as it’s in a fab location aswell!

I've lived here 8 months during Covid-19. It was very pleasure to live here. Great location, clean rooms, perceft views and of course amazing staff. They helped me a lot, especially Gagan (abi) and Sai. They are my friend, we're still keeping in touch and I'm looking forward to come back See you soon guys

Possibly the comfiest dorm-beds I've stayed in, in Australia. Spacious rooms with large lockers, and decent air con, even a towel was included which everywhere else charges for. Loads of different areas or 'spaces' (I see what they did there) - gym, cinema, lounge, office area, outdoor rooftop. Superb hotel/hostel hybrid!

I highly recommend this place. They have great amenities such as customers laundry and kitchen/cooking area, fitness space, movie area, bar, shared facilities, and rooftop/space deck. Staffs are friendly, very helpful, efficient and professional most especially to Adrian.
I will be booking here again when I visit back Melbourne.

Location is great and offers a beautiful view from rooftop. Right next to free tram and shopping centres. I loved the movie experience in their huge cinema screen. I was surprised to see the spa in rooftop which was great.

This was recommended by one of cousin & my mother it was the best place I stayed in the bed was comfortable the price is right.from April 27th 2017 til May 4th 2017. The staff looked after & kept me safe very well. Thanks Space Hotel lovely staff. Love you all heaps.
