96Such a great experience for kids and adults alike. Everyone there was friendly, helpful and full of knowledge. Definitely worth a visit! Pan for your own gold, see blacksmithing, gold smelting, lolly making and other informative demonstrations throughout the day.
Excellent day out for all the family. Take the tours on offer. You learn a lot and they are very interesting.
Step back in time to experience the Gold rush! Such a great attraction, situated in the middle of Ballarat. Being from Sydney it brought back childhood memories of old Sydney town. Great to see Sovereign Hill has survived into the digital age!
Shame no entry discount as the main attractions were not operating. Good day although very expensive.
It's an open air museum which brought us back to 1850s. Nice buildings, nice opera, nice education performances on how to the people back then made blacksmith, raspberry drops, and so on! It's really worth to pay and spend time to go there and learn about australian history!
I've been to Sovereign Hill many times and every time I go I still get caught up in the magic and that feeling of being a little kid again! During the day there is so much do from the candle dipping, watching the hard boiled lollies being made, riding around the village on horse and cart, and of course panning for gold.
This year my younger sister and I attended the Winter Wonderlights for the first time and it took the magic to another level. It was incredible watching the light show and having the "snow" fall all around us with the theme of Christmas in July we even got a photo with Mr and Mrs. Claus. My sister asked me "Mel, is this a dream? It's so magical it has to be a dream. "
Wonderful place to visit, lots to look at and do. Great staff which makes all the interactions amazing.
We visited recently so very few people. Well maintained. Lots to do. Staff do a great job. Food was nice in the New York bakery.
Great place. Definitely not pram friendly. It's definitely a better option to wait until Children can walk.long distances.
Brilliant. A genuine recreation of an 1950s gold mining settlement complete with shops where you can buy product made in the traditional way and other really cool stuff. There is real gold in the creek for panning and the food is delicious. The amount of effort and research in creating such a genuine site is phenomenal and much appreciated by all visitors, I'm sure.
It's worth having a look. Expensive thou. Best to take food and drinks. Did feel sorry for the horses, going around the village over and over again. Everyone is friendly and stay in character.
The best historical park in Australia. Set aside at least a full day. Preferably 2 days to see it all.
My partner and I had our anniversary here and all I have to say is thank you. Thank you to all of the staff for being so amazingly accommodating. Our highlights were the butcher, Sam (our amazing bar tender) and the gentleman at the newspaper shop. We spent all day wandering around being able to enjoy ourselves, the street performances, the staff, activities and the sun while having a drink in our hands.
So thank you very much, highly recommended!
The best place to visit in Ballarat for both tourists and locals alike! The demonstrations, the costumes and the shops are all absolutely wonderful, the food is delicious and the playground is the best in Ballarat. It does seem a little on the expensive side at first but it is well worth it and the quality of the things you get from the shops inside is first class
Great experience had here despite covid restrictions.
Staff are extremely accommodating and make the place feel alive, special shoutout to the barman, butcher and printing gentlemen.
From the moment we walked in it felt like home, I couldn't recommend this place enough and will be back!
Ps. Sam deserves a raise, best barman
Really quiet today due to lockdown/travel restrictions but a wonderful day out. The staff were helpful and friendly which added to our enjoyable experience. We got to do a lot of activities without waiting. The grandkids loved watching the lollies being made and then eating samples. We loved panning for gold, but sadly we didn't find enough to buy Hazel a peacock. (Lol)
Dont keep your hop high when you try to get some help by phone. The say please stay online to transfer your call but instead they hang up. Beautiful place to visit but VERY SAD that people who work there are not helpful.
Loved visiting sovereign Hill again, experiencing the Winter lights this time. We enjoyed the underground mine tour, candle dipping, gold panning, the buildings and shops. The night time light show was absolutely beautiful, highly recommend it. This visit did show how very busy it gets, massive lines for the lolly shop all day, massive lines for bowling, candle dipping, horse and cart rides sold out, mine tours sold out, gold pour sold out. Never been there while it's been so busy. Still a beautiful experience, just get there and book your tour, gold poor, horse and cart ride etc.
Well done Ballarat! This event was magical. From opening to closing the endless activities and access to good coffee and food makes a long day and night easy. We attended as a group of 9 people from two families and we all agreed this place is well done. Standout factor that makes it a "must do" are the staff. Hats off to you all, young and older were so helpful, friendly and professional. Thanks for an amazing time.
Winter wonderlight was amazing! Best time to visit Sovereign Hill, many lights and sure the kids would love it! Highly recommended.
P.s if you book it with dinner, make sure you book it with group, if only 2 person they will sit you in another room of the New York Bakery.
