96Absolutely one of the best tourist spots in Victoria. The $50 entry is so all worth it with the staff being in their characters, we'll-maintained facilities, great food in cafes. You can spend your whole day here.
My partner & I spent the day here & very much enjoyed all it had to offer. The demonstrations were great, staff were amazing, the town is fascinating & it was a great part of history to learn about & experience. We highly recommend spending a full day here to experience all it has to offer & especially recommend spending the extra few dollars to do the quartz mine tour, it was absolutely our favourite part of the trip!
It's quite attentive, most of it is the school's outdoor teaching, which is a bit boring, there is little interaction, and the tickets are not cheap.
And the distance is relatively long, so if you are very interested in history, you can consider it.
The price charged for admission is astronomical! I would have loved to visit with my 3 grandchildren but it was either eat lunch or view Sovereign Hill. No wonder they never advertise the admission fee! Not happy.
Fun museum. Came there on a normal non-school holiday weekday and there’s still a bunch of people there. Not too crowded but also not quiet so it’s not creepy at all or something.
I think that was my fifth time visiting there and it was still fun. Also, so much to explore, we can’t even cover all the area. And we’ve missed some of the rides (i mean those events and the train that takes to down to the actual mining area). Might came back again next time if my family visits me in Melb on winter
Embracing Winter Wonderland at Sovereign Hill, Ballarat Last week, we stepped into a world of enchantment at the Winter Festival in Sovereign Hill! The historic streets transformed into a winter wonderland, adorned with twinkling lights and festive cheer. We immersed ourselves in the magical atmosphere, enjoying fun-filled activities like ice-skating, snow play, and heartwarming performances. From cozying up by crackling bonfires to savoring delectable winter treats, every moment was a celebration of joy and togetherness. Thank you, Sovereign Hill, for giving us an unforgettable winter festival experience that warmed our hearts.
Fantastic experience. Kids loved it. Extra stars for having a Tesla destination charger in carpark. Saved a trip to charge my car to a supercharger.
Wanted to Buy some gold here for my husband's birthday and I couldn't even get in as I couldn't show my vax status. At the moment I can go into other retail shops so I don't know what the deal is here. Discrimination
Sovereign Hill is a 5 stars unforgettable experience, suitable for families but also for adults without kids, lovely staff, great location and awesome actors and actresses that make an unique atmosphere.
I really hope more people start travelling around Victoria so these kind of businesses can overcome such a difficult times.
I look forward to going back.
Most of its shut no one around like it use to be none of the steam engines working at all waist of money until it's back to how it use to be
The staff was very friendly and helpful. Nice place to visit enjoy my time here. I will visit again
Blessed with a beautiful spring day, the little town jumped out of the past or we fell back a number of years into it. Very well built and authentic with little informational shows going all day. It is a worthy visit at a very affordable price. Highly recommended!
Go now if you want to experience this place without the crowds! Kids loved their first experience and can't wait to go back.
Staff were very helpful and entertaining, had a meal in the hotel and the food was great and very reasonably priced with fantastic service from bar and restaurant staff. Lots of information provided by the people delivering tours and demonstrations. Didn't get around to seeing or doing all that we wanted to do in 4 hours, really need a full day there to see everything.
Fascinating place, everybody would find this place interesting. Staff are enthusiastic. Totally recommended
Where do I start? We ordered 5 pies, 4 vanilla slices, 5 cokes and 2 sausage rolls. The pies were all soggy and undercooked, the sausage rolls also. The vanilla slice tasted burnt. We waited in line for 15mins to get out food, only 1 person working the counter. We did 2 mine tours. The Chinese miner story one was terrible, you just walk to a area and watch a story on a wall. Our group was wary to big. You had 30 people plus kids. The 2nd mine tour was the walk through showing us various miner tools and ways of life. This was much better then the first, again however the group was 30 people plus kids and the group is so large that we can't see anything except when we walk past. The time allotments is also out. We do the mine tour and miss the Gold pour or the red shirts. The only reason it regained 1 star is the travelling salesman who was offering rhe electric primer for the black power. He was great. The vast majority of all the trinkets for sale are made in China, such as the harmonicas. Overall I'm disappointed. But the kicker was the exit at 5pm. You made us walk up stairs that had no wheelchair access.
Love this place at any time of the year! Every time we visit, feels like we are going back through time, so much historic facts have been told! Lots of fun for every age, never get enough of it! Highly recommend to visit, allow at least half a day for this place!
Great experience & activities. A lot of effort and time has been put into this park to make it authentic. All the staff were fantastic.
Post CoVID visit, even with reduced attractions and reduced performances by artists, the place is well worth a visit. Authentic things in shops, and street with miners, ladies, troops, law and gentleman doing some impromptu shows, often engaging with audience.
Food at New York bakery was good too with some veg choices on offer. Lastly period photography was cherry on top. Alas, I tried to but could not mine out the Gold. May be next time
Very different experience with old village and gold mining.taste delicious meals from New York restaurant.
