South Melbourne Market Dim Sims reviews
53Dimsims so salty and can’t taste any other flavour. Could not finish and have to throw it away. Both of my boys age 9 and 6 said the same thing. Not sure what’s good about it
Excited to try but found it to be no better than dims sims from a regular takeaway. Not to say it's bad but didn't find anything special about it.
Having eaten dim sims all my life i find these to be over powered by pepper which sounds alarms to me!
You can't taste the product!
Bad move!
Thier spring rolls are much more palletable but thats it!
There are many better Dim Sims around Melbourne!
Overrated. Dim Sims are an icon but stay away from the spring rolls. Obviously frozen and dropped into grease. Inside is pure mush. It went right into the bin.
Awful. Overseasoned with pepper and coriander, the product sold via third party outlets is rubbish.
In the 60's I used to buy the best dim sims in the world at the dandong markets a dim sim lover steamed been looking ever since just tried south Melbourne market dim sum bought at wollyd Warwick qld 6 for $12 rubbish salty to hot in herbs never again wish I could find the one from dandy markets
These are ok but prefer aussie dim sims. This is a bigger version but lacks the MUTTON that gives aussie dim sims their flavor. There is no substitute for an older sheep.
I really do not understand the queues at this place. It is just plain oversized dim sims. They don't taste particularly nice or better than frozen ones but always seem to attract a crowd. They are actually quite dense and difficult to eat. I think I'll settle with my first and only try.
If you are true blue asia, dont expect too much. Steam chicken dim sum was bad. Dough is too thick and texture of meat was very rough. I wouldnt call this dim sum. Spring roll was meh, the feeling was really mushy. Cheap but not good quality.
A long time fan of their large steamed dim sims sold from this small market shop that has been there for ages - yummy.
Seriously if you haven't tried SM mkt dimmies.then you're not a Melbournian!
Best by far.many imitators but none can come close!
Try their Spring Rolls, cant be bought anywhere else but there.best ever!
With such a humble and lengthy history at the South Melbourne Markets, I'm quite dumbfounded at how popular these 'Dim Sims' are.
These types of dumplings predominantly only exist in Australia and seem to be an inbred relative of the 'shumai', which you normally find at Yum Cha places.
The pastry is a lot thicker and deep-fried to death, until it becomes a hard exoskeleton.
This over-cooking, is also afflicted upon the filling, with only the very centre retaining marginal flavour.
How do people eat these things?
Heard lots of good hypes about their Dim Sims. Had some yesterday for lunch, they were good, however not the best I’ve had. I guess this is good & convenient for a quick lunch.
They are quite bigs so 2 are than enough for 1 person
