Excellent food, very friendly. The charcoal chicken is superb as is the tandoori chicken burger, chicken roll, roast vegetables and Greek salad.

Smokey chooks has got to be one of the best places to get a charcoal chicken and all of the accompaniments. The salads are delicious. We are partial to the cauliflower salad, the chips are divine, and please, whatever you do, don't go past the potato cakes. The seasoning used on the chips, chicken, and potato cakes is delicious and brings the flavours up to the next level.

Service is always amazing, and you can always be guaranteed a fresh product.

Do yourself a favour and ring in advance to secure your order as they can run out fast.

There is something to be said about a place where simple old school food is offered simply, but consistently good. The service is always great and the chicken combined with hot, crispy chips is extremely satisfying and delicious. In a place like Richmond where a fast cheap dinner is getting pretty rare, Smokey Chooks offers a welcome mid week respite from the daily grind.

Honestly the best chicken I've had ever and I mean as an islander I've had alot of chicken but it doesn't end there there chips taste sooooo good like no other! Was listening to episode 69 of the hamish and andy podcast. They say the chips are cracking!

I live 300 metres away from here but after giving this a few trys I will travel 3km to the next charcoal chicken shop over. Some seriously eccentric stuff goes on at this place.
Unlike every other chicken shop in the world, they make you ring up here and order your chicken an hour in advance. Then when you go there, they're still late, and you have to wait around. And during that waiting around period, they look at you as if you're the one who's being difficult.
Guys, it's chickens, not dentists' appointments. Cook a bunch of chickens, then sell them to whoever comes in and asks for them. Then repeat. It doesn't have to be complicated.
Also: the chicken itself, pretty good certainly but nothing exceptional, both Hawthorn and Brunswick charcoal chicken shops are at least as flavoursome and maybe more.

Very flavourful and perfectly seasoned chicken. Chips was extremely tasty and I loved their cauliflower salad too. Management is very friendly so the service was extraordinary. Thumbs up you guys.

Happened to stop for lunch. Outstanding flavor on my half chicken. Also had a bite from the chips and it is well seasoned. It is a keeper. The owners personality was great as well.

Update 12/01: - This place is hands down the best Charcoal Chicken place in Melbourne if not Victoria. They have remained consistent with all my outing to the place and worth every dollar spent. Can't recommend anymore than that.

The chips are an amazing combination of chicken salt and herbs, cooked perfectly! I always get the chicken roll, which seemed only possible in my dreams before I found this place. The amount of chicken they use in the roll is generous and absolutely worth the price.

Make sure to get in early though, as they start running out of ingredients for things and the menu becomes limited.
