Small French Bar reviews
73Celebrated my mom's birthday on Friday night - had a fantastic experience, the food was incredible and the staff were so friendly and helpful.
My wife and i celebrated our 32nd Valentine's Day together 14/2/2020 at the Small French Bar in Footscary. We both had the Saint-Jacques à la Provençale as entrée and for mains my wife had the Bouillabaisse and i the Confit de canard. It was all very delicious. Although the place was packed with other diners, the service was very good and the meals came out in good time. It was our first time there on Friday but won't be our last, we loved it.
Excellent, dined in the cafe/deli section for a little more light. Waiter was excellent, knowledgeable and we loved that he was forthcoming in making recommendations for what we should be drinking next with our meals. The duck was incredible!
Special occasion dinner with my wife, made even more special by the fantastic food and ambience. Great little restaurant, especially for those who wish to experience for the first time, or reminisce, what a French bistro is all about.
Last night I had the Hump Day Rosé and Cassoulet dinner.
It was absolutely delicious.
Service was great, ambience was warm and felt very special.
Highly recommend it and will definitely be back
Non locals made to feel like locals. Great hosts and regulars willing to have good conversations. Food clean and simple, AND Yummo. Highly recommend.
A truly fabulous French bistro in the heart of Footscray. What’s not to like? Delicious food and sweet attentive service.
A great find in Footscray - nice atmosphere, great food and attentive friendly staff add to a very pleasant experience. Worth a visit and sure to be a regular port of call in to the future.
Service was personable and attentive. Venue cosy and welcoming, maybe too cosy. Food was good, but I'm not sure French food does it for me. I could hear the praise coming from the parties sitting next to us but I just don't get it. It was all cooked very well, presented nicely, but just to bland for my tastes. If you like food to be simple and not to have strong spices or sauces, then you may really enjoy what the Small French Bar has to offer.
Just moved to the area, first time here, it’s a wonderful coincidence that it was $2 oyster night (every Thursday). Fresh as, oysters with vinegarette. Bouillabaisse was the special of the day, with scampi, prawns, potato, mussels and fish, delish! Only vege options were cheese platter or ratatouille, the ratatouille was complimented by the goats cheese which I mixed through and it got really creamy. We shared the crème brûlée and a crisp bottle of sav and rolled out of there vowing to return. Excellent service, so friendly and efficient. Highly recommend!
What a place. From the second we walked in we were made at home.
Everything on the menu has a story and Steven explained it. I took a moment to savour the food.
Thankyou
Cannot wait to return
