Sir Charles reviews
56Had breakfast and house blend coffee from Sir Charles and so impressed! Nice atmosphere good service, yummy food and lovely coffee
Waited 40 minutes for a coffee and had to ask 3 times to remind the staff about it after everyone else at the table had received their drinks and meals, when we asked to have it removed from the bill they refused.
Literally one of the best breakfast meals I have EVER had! And delicious coffee! Had the vegan smash and it was HEAVEN! Can’t wait to eat here again.
Food was sooo good. I had the salmon Benedict. And the service was impeccable. Can’t wait to go back again.
Nice spacious cafe. Large windows and spacious walkways.
Came in for tea and coffee before going to an event.
Just off the main street this spot is a great spot for a catch up. I from the presentation and quality of our drinks I imagine the food is just as pretty. I'd happily come here for brunch.
Excellent coffee, great food, and friendly staff.
Unfortunately the $10.00 weekend surcharge on top of the normal prices makes it too costly for us. $70.00 on breakfast for two is more than we can comfortably spend.
This place is incredibly underrated.
The price is reasonable and the food was excellent!
I got the big breakfast, salmon Benedict and the steak sandwich.
My favourite has got to be the big breakfast, the flavours well balanced and the portion was big!
The place was very spacious and cozy. The atmosphere was nice and quiet. I really loved the oat flat white I ordered.
I will be coming back.
Have not been disappointed by their food on multiple visits. My last visit on new year’s eve was spectacular. The salmon and sir charles benedict were top-notch with the roti. The steak sandwich was good and the fries were even better (it sounds funny but it was our highlight).
Coffee was delicious as well. The flat white with oat milk was exceptional.
The coffee maker today is so bad. Bad attitude, bad everything. Waiting so long. Won’t come back again
Great food. I had the steak sandwich. Which was delicious was notified early that they had run out of the bread I had chosen. Service was prompt also friendly staff.
A nice little cafe with an annoying problem. Good food and coffee albeit a little pricey, but no wifi available. Which in itself is forgivable but the signal inside the building lined with metal bars and ornaments is so poor you cannot get any work done. Steer clear if you’re wanting to work or do anything requiring internet.
Sir Charles is a light filled nice space. Open and clean. However the more patrons the louder it gets with little sound dampening. Once you get a screaming child with parents who do not take them outside for the benefit of other in the room, the ambience dulls.
The menu reads well except the prices are a little higher than what I would normally expect to pay.
Coffee prices and quality are average.
The staff were good.
My wife had the Salmon Benedict which was OK. I had the more expensive Sir Charles Breakfast which I found disappointing. It had all the ingredients but the total was not greater than the sum of the parts which we have come to expect from most breakfast places. Nothing special at all and very poor value for $28 (Plus the 10% surcharge and credit card fee, more on that below). Made less attractive as the baked beans were not even luke warm.
2 breakfasts and 2 coffees for $65.60 plus10% surcharge and credit card fee was $72.74.
Given the prices on the menu ($26 and $28) for the breakfast items we were considering, I checked the menu to see if there was a surcharge listed as is required by law in Victoria (saying "a surcharge of XX% on [specified day or days]), and must not be smaller than the font of the food items on the menu. There was no listing of a surcharge which is illegal.
I went out to a restaurant the night before and for our anniversary dinner of 2 excellent mains, a glass of wine and a glass of sparkling white we paid a total of $91.00 for a total quality night out.
It is not really about the cost, it is about value, honesty and managed expectations.
I take my wife out almost every Saturday and Sunday (travel up to 15 kilometres from home) and we have been to some excellent places and today does not rate a revisit by me.
If you are aware of the surcharge and order something where the meal is hot, your experience may be very different to mine.
Amazing food and coffee, especially the benedict. Staffs were friendly and attentive! Will definitely come back again
I’m really sad when i saw the rating is 4.4 since it deserve more than 5/5 it’s really amazing place very kind staff their food amazing except cake is unbelievable they have the best cake in Melbourne honestly
100% recommended and you should try their cake Red velvet, pistachio or chocolate nautila are the best
Lovely venue. We came here just around late lunch time to have coffee and cakes. The batch brew $5 was lovely as was the flat white $5.20. The red velvet cake $8.50 was good too. Although it felt like their service seemed a bit slow staff were probably tired from a busy day.
Chilled vibes, friendly staff, great coffee and tasty food. The chicken & waffles + Avo Smash were delish
Friendly and helpful staff.nice beautiful restaurant… food was okay Good & perfect service…
Good breakkies.
I ordered a cake from here for my birthday (Raspberry pistachio layer cake) and was SO impressed with the quality- the level of expect for an expensive artisanal wedding cake! Beautiful looking, fresh and moist, not too sweet and very tasty!
Really friendly staff, very accommodating to our group of six. Timely service. Great food and unique menu. First time I’ve tried a Hoji-cha latte and it was lovely. Would come here again to try something different.
Really appreciate guys was serving us on Sunday the service was fantastic and staff was so friendly. When they told us there would be minimum half an hour waiting time on foods order before we sit in, we was totally understand because not many cafe was open on that day. The food was great and the staff serving us smilely even they are under pressure from the customer. Highly appreciate.
