Shujinko reviews
78The Takowasabi was a very interesting appetiser and worth trying if you've not had it before! Their Karaage was crispy and yet the meat was juicy and tender. The Signature Ramen however was a bit of a let down, as the broth was lacked depth of flavour.
An avid foodie who rarely ever leaves a bad review, but the ramen here was sub par. Broth isn't as rich (or thick), and the two slices of chashu I had was mostly fat (and not the melt-in-your-mouth type), barely marinated and just chewy.
To top it off, they also have a weekend surcharge of 10% and a card surcharge when ordering via the QR code system.
Great place for ramen at lunch as they always offer a discount.
Would recommend their vegetable tempura ramen.
Update - used to be better. Personally I rate Hakata Gensuke down the road much higher.
Good ramen in Melbourne. Tonkotsu is a must.
The food was amazing. The staff was friendly. The price is reasonable for the food quality that you got. Will definitely come back to try another dish.
Bad customer service. The waitstaff was rude and unhelpful. I will never come to this place ever again.
The dipping ramen is my absolute favourite, the broth is so rich in flavour and the meat is soooo good.
Definitely the best tonkotsu ramen in Melbourne! Try the black ramen and of course gyozas. A favourite place that I go to maybe too often.
Best ramen I’ve had in Melbourne, and such good value! Good to share one with someone and get extra noodles
The staff wasn't accommodating so don't expect the best service. 2 bowls of ramen took roughly 30 mins to arrive and when we got our bowls of their signature spicy ramen and dark ramen, the portion size wasn't worth the cost of nearly A$ 40. The taste of it was decent but nothing special and the char siu pork is cut in rectangular slices instead of the round slices which makes me think that they are quite stingy with the portion size.
Great ambient though it might feel cramp, it reminds me of Japan. The broth was decent and so was the char siu. Not a lot of space, so booking a table would be ideal.
One of the best ramen bars in Australia. If you've never been to Japan, this place is a great taste of the real thing.
Very friendly and quick service, a good menu accompanied with a small selection of Sake and Japanese beer.
Our favorite haunt each time we go up to Melbourne to watch footy. It has been our Ramen fix for the past few years.
Oh my, i don't have much to say about this place. The Ramen is just mind-blowing.limited seating, always busy. Usually have to wait to get a seat especially at night. Good customer service. Thinking of Ramen this is the place to be
Their food is great and so are their services, even though the pricing looks a bit much: one ramen bowl is enough to fill you. It is a big serving, they also allow you to pack it if need be
Best place for supper.
The Shujinko Ramen and the Karaage Chicken are really amazing. Love em
Amazing! For me and my friends it was like stepping into downtown Tokyo.food is so delicious and place is cute and cosy.team working there are very hospitable.look forward to come back many times. Xx
Great noodles, even better broth. Karakuchi had enough kick to it without being overbearing. Portion was quite filling.
Two of us came to Shujinko Japanese Ramen Restaurant on a Tuesday for lunch. We ordered the Shujinko Ramen and Karaage Don. The food was delicious and the customer service was excellent. Thank you so much to the waiters, chefs and all staff involved!
Very overrated. It's just a normal Japanese restaurant with average tasting ramen. It's not bad but it's not the best. I also noticed that there is not much quality control in the taste of broth. My partner's broths taste was noticeably different to mine suggesting lack of standardisation in the creation of dishes. The decor is mediocre and not how hyped it was said to be. I reckon all the really good reviews are when this place just opened when things were new or the quality of food was better. A new restaurant is always worth a try but I wouldn't come back here. But don't trust my opinion, come have a try yourself.
