Shadowfax Winery reviews
61You will have options to try out free wines and also there are categories to pay and taste. Very good collection and the staffs who explains are very friendly. She explained all in detail. But we cant see wine making. It would be nice if we can see on how wines are made
Ok, so the one star is for the waitress we had today, fantastic! The other goes to the venue, however the food doesn't deserve a rating as it was tasteless and over priced
However the rest of the experience has a lot to be said for and I hope this place takes a good long look at the way they run this business.
When you are taken to your table, you would think that you would be greeted with how are you today. Instead you are told you only have a certain amount of time to eat because the table is booked! Absolute worst first impression of this place. Of course the table is booked after our sitting, but you don't have to make it a statement. Piss Poor
Now i don't know about anyone else, but being charged $65.00 for a bottle of shadowfax wine at the table and then being told its about $40.00 or so if you want to buy at the cellar door is nothing but a cash grab. Their reasoning was corkage, now where in the hell do you have to pay for corkage for their in house wine!
The food is WAY over priced, its tasteless, boring, and honestly wouldn't recommend anything off the current menu, OK maybe the desert and cheese platter.but that is it. The market steak was the most tasteless steak i have ever eaten, and everyone at the table was not impressed with their food, for the money they are charging. If you take your kids, please save your money and get them a main as they really have put no thought into these meals. If i wanted my child to eat an unseasoned piece of chicken i would have cooked it myself. No hang on i would have seasoned it!
Will never go back to this place to eat, i am trying to think if i have had a worst experience anywhere else before ending this review, but actually this place at the moment takes the prize for the the most over priced, tasteless lunch i have had.if you want to end on a happy note the wine is good!
Today the Probus Club of Coorparoo Brisbane Qld had the privilege of dining at the Shadow Fax Winery, just outside Melbourne. There were 35 of us and we had the Plowman's Lunch, followed by Woodfired Pizza's and the most delicious Tiramisu Desserts. All the staff are very professional, and bent over backwards for us. The atmosphere is wonderful, with Award Winning Wines.
I have no hesitation in recommending the Shadow Fax Winery whether it's for 2 or 92, a delightful day all around for everyone.
The worst experience ever I don't even know where to start. The customer service is the worst I've ever experienced in my life, overpriced low quality food, very average wine, staff that forget your order and lie about it, being racially judged, spoken to and treated like a peasant by a few months f the female staff and ridiculed for answering a question in regards to a wine preference - just to name a few of the events that took place. Will never return and will warn others too. I could not possibly be more upset or disappointed.
Beautiful location, live music was a definite plus (4 to 5 stars) but it is very expensive, both food and wine. Whilst both food and wine were enjoyable, for value for money I would have to rate it 1 star. Felt it was very over-priced, as other reviewers have also noted.
Extremely disappointed, menu did not have the some options as advised online and was incomprehensible. Sheared entrée was a plate of overpriced deil meat $36. Main meal was pasta which was just prawns and oil, tasted like salt water, partner also very disappointed with the snapper she ordered, didn't stay for dessert had enough by that stage. Staff were good. Overpriced self-indulgence!
Only go if you're willing to fork out some cash, but it was wortg it and great place to treat yourself or go to for special occasions!
Me, my sister and Mum had lunch at shadowfax today. Before going to the restaurant I looked at the menu online to see what’s on offer, the menu we got given wasn’t the same one and they haven’t updated it on their website. The customer service was poor, we had to call someone over to order drinks and meals, most of them were standing around and not taking notice of the store. When we got our meals, yes it was fairly fast BUT the food wasn’t hot, all 3 meals were luke warm. You pay a decent amount of money on the meals and you expect it to be hot.
Not sure if I would bother going back.
Amazing amazing food! Every dish was superb! Especially the gnocchi. We couldn’t believe how good the food was - what a pleasant surprise.
Great cuisine and beautiful wines on offer in this wonderful family friendly restaurant. Very courteous and attentive staff. Thoroughly enjoyable experience. Highly recommended.
Great place for lunch and a lazy afternoon in the sun. Good food and great service. Surrounds are pleasant, you really couldn't ask for much more! We had lamb ribs, pumpkin gnocchi and a woodfired pizza to share (delicious pizza base!) along with a few drinks including chardonnay, rose, negroni cocktail, beer and a cold pressed espresso liqueur. Very happy and we will definitely return again.
A really nice experience. In a convenient but pleasant location relatively close to Melbourne. Good atmosphere inside and pleasant surrounds outside. Food, wine and service were all very good. Would definitely recommend reserving a table for lunch as the restaurant is quite small.
Great food and service but a bottle of wine for $28 from tasting and then $47 on the menu not happy!
It is a great place for family, groups and company booking for lunch and diner, and then everybody can try wines and buy it!
Somewhat unexpected to find this gem amongst the Werribee market gardens. Wine is very good, food is of high quality and the staff are knowledgeable, professional and friendly. Try the Tassie Summer gin cocktail. Definitely stop by for the picnic on the lawn.
Wonderful environment for a great fine dining with awesome wine.but it's not value for money.too expensive. I think price is set for the environment and the overheads of the venue.however trendy crowd could be attracted for the price.but it's not able to fill the stomach fully.
Amazing red wine! The place is gorgeous, the staff extremely knowledgeable & the wine incredible!
Great venue with a range of wine and gourmet food menu on offer.
Excellent customer service.
What a fantastic venue. Food outstanding, staff exceptionally friendly and helpful. The wine was just lovely. My friends drank the beer and they loved that. If the day is great, you can grab a picnic rug and sit outside in the sun.
If it's a bit chilly, you can grab a lap blanket.
Really busy and yet the staff didn't look stressed. They were so efficient that everyone was happy and helpful. Certainly worth a visit!
Dedicated staff and passionate cooks, a Winery, restaurant and vineyard all in one. If you're looking for great food west of the city, Shadowfax is worth the drive (take the scenic one along the beachfront)
