Shadowfax Winery

Wanted to try it for a while but it was only just OK.
Menu is small and a bit uninspiring.
I suspect there is a shortage of staff.
Food generally lacks finesse and flavor.

Salmon tartar presented in a way that they can have everything pre made and just pop it on the plate in a pile, Got a end piece of barra and nothing exciting about the garnish.
Flatbread was good, pizza looked under.onward and upward

We were invited by friends and weren't aware of the 2 course requirement. The food is overpriced for what you get. The potato pizza lacked flavour and the potatoes were way too thick. It was like they did a boiled potato, sliced it I to 5cm sliced and dropped it onto the pizza. The kids pasta was $14 and they literally put a thin layer of tomato on pasta. The cavatelli was really nice.

5…4…3… We went here for an outdoor dining experience which was great during the summer: a sunny weather and cold breeze. Adjacent to the al fresco is the vineyard and a very nice lawn/garden and canopy of trees where the kids and families can have candid moments together. The male staff serving us was kind and knowledgeable to suggest to us some good food combinations from the wine, entree, and mains. The food is good though can be improved if they do some quality check before they serve them, as our steaks came out more rare than the medium rare we expected. We had to ask them to cook it a bit more. Their wood pizza tasted good and can be improved as they are not very generous with the toppings. The price of food is a bit more expensive compared to other venues but I guess it’s the ambiance you are paying for. I would have rated this 4-5 stars, unfortunately we were asked to leave earlier than expected in a more straightforward way even if the words “we politely ask you to leave” were uttered, because someone will be having a garden wedding, even if the garden wedding will be at the far end of the adjacent lawn from the al fresco where we were seated. We did not argue, but we did not appreciate that gesture even If we were very understanding and meek types of people. It would have been great if they (the people who was about to have their wedding or the management) paid a portion of our meals. I suggest they should tell their guests in advance to avoid uncomfortable and embarrassing situations like that from both ends. Most guests (like us) are not always from Melbourne, I suppose. I still hope that courtesy is not very scarce nowadays.

Great location, friendly staff and good food. While on the expensive side for food, the wine is very reasonably priced and the recommendations on the menu pair well with the food. We sat outside and were attacked by very persistent caterpillars, luckily it became a bit of a game with the 3yo to collect them and move them to a tree, but they did bother some other tables. There is a bunch of space inside too so no worries there. Overall very enjoyable

EXPENSIVE DISAPPOINTMENT
Being businesswoman myself in past, I refrain from posting negative feedback for any business. But I could not stop myself today.
We 7 friends went to ShadowFax winery yesterday for Lunch. The restaurant season requirement is 2 course meal for each person. There were not many options in menu, so We ordered pizza with topping of tiger prawns. After a long wait comes the pizza with 3-4 slices of one small prawns (literally slices of one prawn, AND what happened to Tiger prawn) and creme fraiche only in the middle. Cherry on top is one burnt pizza my friend had to look at and eat.
We could not finish those tasteless pizzas at all.
The service was worst. We got our deserts after one hour of mains and after reminding them 3 times.so we could not eat the deserts too after such a long break.

Had a fabulous day. We had the 4 course menu and wine pairing and everything was delicious. Plenty of food. Staff were very friendly and attentive and very knowledgeable on all wines. Would highly recommend and we will definitely be returning in future. Thank you all at Shadowfax for an enjoyable day out.

Beautiful location and venue. We ordered their shared 4 course menu. Food was average but we really enjoyed the flatbread and the dessert. The pizzas being served at some of the other tables looked pretty good so that's what I'll be ordering whenever we visit next.

Enjoyed a relaxing Sunday lunch. Hubby loved his steak and pinot pairing. Both tiramisu and pistachio nougat semifreddo desserts are must tries. Lovely attentive service. Live music. Loved the song selections, guitarist was really good.

Beautiful place with great staff. Little undiscovered gem in the western suburbs. To talk about customer service: Last time when I visited,
I broke a wine glass and they cleared it for me and when I returned back from rest room, they had cleared and placed a new glass with same wine. I was not even able to say a proper thank you and hence put this review to thank her. I really get a great experience when I visit this place with the beautiful scenery, great food and excellent drinks and reserve it for every important occassion.

Food was delicious but very expensive for the serving size and type when compared to the Yarra Valley or Mornington Peninsula regions. Service staff lovely and everyone is friendly. Went Saturday lunch at 1pm but had over an hour wait for food with kids very hungry after waiting so long (we ate at 2: 15pm). Two meals were incorrectly delivered but staff took them away and delivered the correct meals very promptly and offered free side salad for the error.

Beautiful winery and in great location. Nice to see one in the west.
Food was great especially the polenta chips, brocolini, hand cut chips and duck sausage rolls. The pizzas were ok and honestly think it required more Napoli sauce. Why are all restaurants scrimping on the sauce? It’s the most important part of the pizza!
Drinks was good. I wish I tried their wines but we all went to the cocktails.

Another amazing visit to Shadowfax winery. Beautiful food, great wines and excellent service. If you get a chance to visit, I highly recommend you go. Thank you Shadowfax, see you soon!

Yummy food and a family’s favourite for takeaway in this time of lockdown - keep up the great work guys - can’t wait to visit once you’re back open

Beautiful wines, amazing food and good company. I couldn’t have asked for a better lunch experience.

We started with a tasting and though it was hard to choose, I settled on the Pinot Gris. Hard to choose because nearly every wine was delicious. My friends chose the Rosé.

The food, so good, plenty of pics of see what we had.

After lunch the staff kindly moved us to an outdoor table where we continued to have a few drinks, laugh and chat in the sun.

I even bought a couple bottles to take home. I will definitely be going back.

The wine was exceptional. The staff were personable and professional, food was incredible (lots of vegetarian options too!) I highly recommend locals to pop in and not-so-locals to make the trip to this hidden gem 5/5

Lovely winery just out of Werribee, with a tremendous suite of wines to taste - and lots of good, fresh food on offer. Lush well maintained lawns make for a great picnic spot, and all run by friendly and very hospitable staff. (Our picnic went past closing hours but we were kindly allowed to stay as long as we wished.)

A very positive experience. Great wine, food, atmosphere and most importantly, great service from your staff!

It’s always good to have amazing wineries in the west. One of my top 3. Great space and good for all ages and occasions. Pizza are great.
