Seven Seeds Coffee Roasters reviews
67I had an outstanding pour over here in this beautiful location. A blend from Gesha and Yellow Pacamara from Honduras and it was definitively brewed on point. Very well done. Also the staff is super friendly and welcoming. I enjoyed my stay very much and will probably come back for some beans (and maybe another pour over) before I have to leave Melbourne.
Thai basil stir-fried beef, red chilli and udon noodles with fried egg overshadows the refurbished warehouse. Quite a letdown
Interesting nonalcoholic choices, meals were a good size, by which I mean I could actually finish it for once instead of struggling (sides available if you have a large appetite). Very tasty, great service. Unique venue.
Seven seeds is well known for its coffee, and on a recent trip to Melbourne I decided to try it for myself.
The cafe was situated about a ten minute walk from my hotel and quite easy to find. It has an industrial warehouse feel and was quite busy when I chose to visit. There are separate lines for eating in and take away, which is practical in a place like this. There is plenty of space, and long tables if you have a large group. There was chill jazz music playing, but it did tend to echo and was a little loud for me, but the overall atmosphere was chilled and laid back.
They had a few gluten free options, and I chose the wasabi avocado - and it nice and light, but packed with plenty of protein as it sat prettily on the plate. The wasabi was quite subtle, and added to the overall flavour.
They didn’t have almond milk, so I had soy milk instead, and it was a good all round brew and milk was silk smooth. I did feel though that I hadn’t tried enough, so had a batch brew on the way out - the barista was very knowledgeable and out the coffee in a extra cup for insulation. They did have quite a selection of pastries, and quite a few gluten free that I missed when I came in (the take way line was long) and grabbed a few to eat later at the hotel - I don’t know where these were sourced from but they were good!
The table service was ok, not overly friendly - but the barista made up for it was his obvious enthusiasm and knowledge of the brew.
If I went back, I’d either go earlier or later because of the noise - but it was worth the time.
Beautiful atmosphere but had the worst customer service during lunch time on 16 October 2023 (at around 1: 15pm). Was queuing for a table, the waitstaff was very friendly to the people before me. But walked past me right away. When I asked her for a table, she said “I’m busy for lunch service at the moment. ” I asked politely if I could have one of the empty, unreserved tables near the main entrance/close to the coffee pick up so it was easier for my friend to find me. But she then sighed and very rudely told me “Fine come with me, come! ” And ushered me all the way to the back. I ordered a long black which was good, as well as a croissant which I asked to be toasted… but it was ice cold. The shifts rotated when I was about to leave and encountered other friendlier wait staff. Great coffee and spot, but I had a disappointing and an uncomfortable experience.
Delicious food. You can tell the kitchen is passionate about their food and their drinks.
Really comfortable seating too.
Lovely place!
Went there during lockdown. Still, after all these years and too many competitors, im coming to the rescue for one of the best coffee across melbourne.
Autumn Hash
The Benedict
Sevens Seeds is an industrial-chic cafe and mini-roaster located in the quiet backstreets of Carlton, renowned for having some of the best coffee in town. They are regularly busy, yet it has a very relaxed vibe and staff are always friendly. Just reading through their all-day seasonal Winter menu I felt warm, it is smaller than most but far from basic. The Benedict was perfectly executed, one of the best I’ve had in Melbourne I would say. The Autumn Hash also packed in enough flavour and pleasant, textural elements. I would definitely say this is a must-visit, and a reliable brunch destination.
Went here for the first time today, my co-workers really seem to like the place. I came and purchased a egg and bacon roll and a cinnamon scroll. The food was really nice but I was shocked when I checked my bank statements later that day to see that it cost $19.00. Idk if I was overcharged or if that is the correct price. I just wish the person at the counter told me the total rather then a “tap here”
There's no denying that the coffee at Seven Seeds is very good. I do question whether $5.30 is too pricey for a soy latte. I'll let the patrons decide, but personally it is pushing the cost a bit too high for me.
Brunch options are good, and I do like the ambience of the place. A great spot for the Carlton area.
Beautiful interiors, also a great location for business meeting: friendly staff and great coffee!
Warm and friendly service and great coffee. The menu is always changing and has great options. The filter coffee is superb!
Seven seeds are one of the most popular well-known cafe in Melbourne.
Many other popular places were just instagramable artificial food and the latte art with milky coffee which ruins the espresso taste.
I've been skipping this cafe, prejudiced for the same reason but my guessing was wrong
This is the genuine quality cafe from the heart
Latte glass comes in a 3/4 size glass so the balance of milk is perfect ratio with coffee.
Reasons I've stopped drinking latte was due to many baristas focusing on the latte art and pouring milk too much.
With their latte glasses, I can order many times without requesting 3/4 latte to my liking. It is 50% Columbia 50% Brazil brend coffee
Full strength beautiful aroma.
Quality of meals satisfied for 3 of us and came following Saturday again.
Customer service was excellent and all staff were friendly and attentive. It was nice to see the staff was remembered us from the last week's visit
We really enjoyed coffee and meals. 5+
Do try the Madras Egg scramble - very flavourful and appetising. It’s a beautiful cafe - very friendly staff and quality food. Definitely recommend.
I used to love going here during my uni days. The food and service were great back then.
Went back here today with a uni friend after a few years not going. After what happened today, we decided that we won’t be coming back probably ever!
Took them 20 minutes to bring our coffee. We understand that it’s a busy day, but we started realising the table of 4 beside us (that came and ordered 20 minutes after us) already had their food. We asked the server about our food and he told us that “it’s on its way”.
15 minutes later he came back to us and asked “sorry, what did you guys order? ”
The other table on the other side who sat and ordered 30 minutes after us had their food as well. And all we got is “the food is coming” - not even an apology.
We finally got our food AFTER the table of 4 finished their food.
I understand that people make mistakes but the waiter did not even apologise or tried to explain the situation.
I've easily sunk a triple digit sum at this institution for good reason. A classic unimelb haunt, probably the best coffee in the area with some of the best food too. The *only* (very slight) problems I have with this Cafe are that it can get expensive and that it's usually quite packed so can sometimes result in a wait to get a table.
Good food, great ambience and awesome coffee! Definitely a good stop for the coffee lovers. I would highly recommend as a must-stop-by place if touring the city. The almond latte was exquisite. I was in a vegetarian phase at the time and had a vegi burger that was impeccable. You can sometimes struggle trying to find decent vegetarian food in restaurants and cafés but this time I hit the nail on the head!
The photo doesn't do it justice.had a bad quality camera.
Awful experience. All the waitress and waitresses were in the kitchen chatting and ignoring us for 10 minutes. They didn't even look at us, we couldn't order anything. I won't recommend it even to my worst enemy. Please just go and search for another Café who would at least attend you.
Rude staff and the menu doesn't have any sweet dishes for brunch.
The coffee is great and the food was still pretty good.
Haven’t been here in a long time as there are plenty of coffee roasters around, but decided to come in today. Greeted by a grumpy waiter (only to customers- he seems very chirpy with the other staff).
Above average coffee, but one of the more pricey ones even by Melbourne’s standard at $4.8. With an additional 10% surcharge on weekend. My suggestion to you: Head over to QVM for Market Lane coffee instead.
