I've just completed my second ever set and couldn't have imagined doing it without this course. The course is a great combo of "go with the flow" and theory.

This course will exceed any expectations you may have about what it will deliver! It is a transformative experience and really places you way ourside your comfort zone in a fun and supportive way. Full credit to Morry, C J and Brad who are masters of their craft! This course should be at the top of everyone's list!

A well thought out well delivered course presented by a knowledgeable team. If you’ve ever thought about trying stand-up, or just want to improve your public speaking, this is the course for you.

I would recommend Hard Knock Knocks to anyone.

To be honest I wasn’t sure if I should do the course at first or if I should just work it out at open mics. Then I realised - there’s no other art form where I’d expect the artist to just work it out. So I signed up and I’m so glad I did. It was well worth it. For me it was more than just learning about joke structure. It was the confidence I gained from getting proper feedback (which you don’t get at open mics). Signing up has also meant networking, and ongoing support, from other alumni.

If you’re thinking about trying stand up (or have done some but want to improve), I highly recommend this course.

This course was the best money I have ever spent.

Invaluable feedback and guidance from skilled comedians and industry professionals. It was a supportive environment to help refine material, practice microphone technique and get used to being on a stage in front of other people.

The opportunity to take what you have learnt and perform a 5 minute set for a live audience is amazing and has given me much more confidence to step into the world of open mics.

For anyone like me, who wants to try and bomb-proof themselves (as much as possible) before taking the stage for the first time, I couldn’t recommend this course higher.

Did the course in February 2022. For those interested in getting into comedy this is the perfect introduction into joke writing techniques and building a solid 5 minute recital.
The course also connects you with other comics post graduation, so if you're having a hard time navigating the open mic scene, there are plenty of fellow graduates and veterans who can offer a helping hand.

Fantastic course. Informative, encouraging and gave me the confidence to get up and perform for the first time. Also wonderful ongoing support and opportunities to further your comedy journey.

I just completed the SHKK Standup Comedy In Person course in Melbourne. I give the course my highest recommendation. All of the instructors brought unique and highly valuable information to the students. There is a lot of actual stage time and great constructive feedback in a warm and nurturing environment.
If you’ve ever thought about trying standup like I had, this is the course you should choose.

The School of Hard Knock Knocks has helped hundreds of new comedians get their feet onto a stage. It's from this pool of new talent that we watch for future stars, and put them on stage with famous headliners. When ever you attend a Punchlines Comedy show, there will always be a graduate of the School of Hard Knock Knocks supporting.

Great course, very supportive and a lot of fun.

I can't recommend this enough if you've been thinking about doing stand up but haven't worked up the courage. Don't put it off any longer!

Did the course a while ago. Wasn't worth the money. Most of their teachers are happy to pass on advise over a lunch and a beer and some do personal coaching for a fraction of the cost. If you want to do comedy, just go to an open mic. You'll learn more and it's free. I regret doing the course.

I would have never had the guts to perform my first open mic with out this workshop.

But I wish they would get more relevant guest comedy mentors in, I'm 27 and most of the time I've never herd of the guest comedian they get, nobody watches TV anymore or listens to the radio, wish they would get well known comedians "to my generation" that are actively touring new material or least has an active following online.would be awesome getting MORE up to date information.

BUT... The class has introduced me to many other comedians and now I CAN go to any open mic in the state and know somebody in the room. Its a little pricey, but so are all theses kind of classes.would recommend to any comic that cant quite find the nerve to preform their first open mic.

I've also made back more money back then I initially spent on the course doing gigs through School of hard knock knocks affiliated venues and events. The Rubber Chicken and Punchlines Comedy.

9/10 would do again, Good value! Also makes a good present for a friend or loved one, will be getting this for my dad on his birthday.

If you have an interest in stand-up comedy or even public speaking the school of hard knocks knocks is the place to go. You will learn how to be creative, how to structure jokes all in a fantastic environment. I thoroughly enjoyed everything I got out of the course and the support I was given leading up to the graduation. The team here do a fantastic job and it’s run out of one of the best comedy clubs in Melbourne.

I attended the SHKK course with my partner as a Christmas present, Pre-COVID. It was such fun, and we made long lasting friends, and relationships for life. The course was detailed, and well tailored. It was challenging and reflective to participate in. I highly recommend.

The concept of a comedy course and a community of new comedians is a fantastic one. Unfortunately, where it falls short is at the feet of the people in charge of the School of Hard Knock Knocks.

The owners prey on aspiring comedians that are new to the scene and don't know any better.

They have a terrible reputation around the Melbourne Comedy Scene, with multiple people feeling unsafe to return to any of their events. They have constantly been caught screwing people over financially and are very dishonest people.

To anyone considering taking this course, please be careful and know what you are getting in to. There are plenty of other pathways (free) to start comedy in Melbourne.

*I am choosing to stay anonymous and use a throwaway account as the owners have been known to threaten legal action. *

A great place to learn comedy and have some drinks! I participated in a comedy course and it improved my public speaking + joke telling skills! I highly recommend visiting the School of Hard Knock Knocks!
