Salted Egg

I don’t usually leave reviews but We were a group of 8 who decided to do the $75 dollar set menu. We arrived at 6: 30pm and received 3 cold dishes (1 oyster each, 1 betel leaf, 2 little chips of kingfish and 1 dumpling). We waited approximately 1 and half hours to receive our mains and noticed tables that had arrived after us had received there food. When we received our food we had 2 servings of rice, lobster and pork to share amount 8 ppl which was not enough food. For dessert we had 4 plates with 1 little scoop of icecream on 2 desserts to share amount 8 ppl. We left hungry and don’t know if the set menu is good value for money.
You need to order ahead of time for drinks because we waited 30 minutes get our drinks.
The staff were nice and the food was good. I really liked the ambience and we did receive a discount. I don’t know if I would come back with a larger group.

Celebrated my anniversary and accidentally booked the wrong dates. The Supervisor Ben at the time was kind enough to sit us down by the bar counter which was good enough considering my mix up. The supervisor throughout the night kept checking in on us and even offered us drinks on the house due to the inconvenience. He then later approached us again with an offer to move to a dining table which was greatly appreciated! Overall the food, atmosphere and specially the service from Ben made this a great night and would love to come back again.

Food was delicious, especially for a set menu.
Service could have been more personable, like putting plates down gently and filling everyone's glass before offering top ups.
Atmosphere would have been good, but a large group makes it noisy.

I think the food ain’t match its price
Crispy pork belly wasn’t even crispy at all, it was more likely braised pork belly (too much fatty part tho) but not that tender. Although the dipping sauce was savoury (to the sour side more, I like) but still cant “cure” the sweetness from the plum sauce -> quite greasy and wouldnt wanna eat more?
Bbq king prawn was better with a nice flavour of tomyum. I guess they wanted to create some sort of “char” taste by grilling the prawn, however, it was a little bit burnt IMO, leaving a slightly bitter taste which wasn’t my cup of tea.
Good service though.

Cute little place to visit with average food and POOR customer service. We had to request water 3 times if not more before our server cared to attend to our request. It took 10 minutes for our finished entree’s plates to be cleared and another 10 mins for mains to be arrived. Needless to say, won’t be visiting or recommending anyone to visit.

Good flavours, desserts are the highlight and worth trying but overall felt it was overpriced for what we got.

Salted Egg was absolutely fantastic. The service was great. We ordered drinks from upstairs and made our way downstairs. We ordered the set menu $65 per person. The pork belly dish was delicious and dessert was so good.

This was some of the nicest food I’ve ever eaten.
My partner and I found it very hard to find a favourite dish as they flavours were all so unique and soo nice!
We had the king fish, prawn dumplings, sweet sour pork and lamb ribs as well as 2 deserts.

We honestly could have ordered a 2nd dish of any of these they were that nice!
Can’t wait to go back.

This place is a hidden gem! We found it randomly when searching for Asian cuisine. It’s on the first floor of the hotel. The vibe was funky and cool. The food was exciting and delicious. Every dish was falvourful and presented exceptionally. The pandan white chocolate mousse is a must! The server was friendly and professional.

The 4 stars are for the chef and their food. Little to fault with an inventive menu - we look forward to the chef opening their own restaurant soon. We booked for the early NYE service and paid just under $700 for 4. Unfortunately the table service was massively lacking in hospitality and knowledge of their drinks list - one of our party was served a dessert wine as ‘Chardonnay’. Where is the sommelier in a restaurant of this standard? The waiting staff were largely trying their best but one of the waiters (you know who you are) plonked the dishes down on the table with almost laughable disregard for the fact we were paying customers! We’re well travelled and like many people in Melbourne know good food from otherwise. Please treat your customers with more respect.

Dined with a group of 6 and had the opportunity to try 12 dishes and a bunch of cocktails - zero misses. Some of the best South East Asian food we've all ever eaten.

Quality of the food did not justify the price. The food was ok and had to wait a long time for each course. We ordered banquet $75 per person, basically the portion for each person 1 oyster, 1 tiny pieces of king fish, 1 tiny piece of duck, 1 shiu may and for main I get 1 piece of duck and tiny piece of fish with rice, the desert is 3 pieces of cakes share between 5 of us. Wouldn't recommend anyone who wants to try Thai/Vietnamese food.

Amazing food and service, if you are first time to go, I will recommend the $75 set menu! It’s really tasty and reasonable price! Nothing to complain

Very underrated - hidden upstairs of a hotel. Every dish was honestly flavorful and generous size. Good atmosphere and friendly staff. Will be back again.

The meals were very well presented in good quality & quantity. A wide variety of meals for different people's tastes

Pleasantly surprised. Visited recently for a work lunch and the food was amazing. Place is relatively new and whilst we had a few hiccups with the wait staff in getting drinks I was really impressed. And if you are in for a new rooftop bar experience head up to the top floor after dark… impressive.

Food was excellent! Feels like not many people know about this place which is a shame because it was really nice. One thing I will say, it's confusing having three "feed-me" menus at similar price points (also who pays an extra $30 for just dessert, didn't make sense). But we went with the first one and ordered dumplings and extras on top. Had so much food they had to roll us out of there! Will definitely try to come back here for breakfast or dinner.
