Saké Restaurant & Bar Hamer Hall reviews
80Service was horrible when I went, you can have a good location and still have bland food and poor service. Maybe it’s because you under pay some of the staff? When I read the paper that you under pay some staff by almost 800$ per pay cycle it kind of explained why the staff. Were so miserable.
Enjoyed a family celebration. Fabulous setting private areas for groups and wonderful ambience great food excellent staff our waitress was outstanding
Tasted just ok. Went there for the team dinner. Foods were pricey for the quality and the inside was too dark. The service was ok
Superb food and a great location with excellent river views. The service is top shelf. Indoor and outdoor seating with a terrific bar. Great spot for gluten free dining!
Nothing was too difficult to accommodate and we did challenge with a Coeliac, a Vegetarian and a Vegan. Delicious
Two reasons I gave this place 3 stars instead of 2:
- The beautiful view
- The desserts.
The only main dish that I like is their juicy toothfish tempura. Other dishes are average as best and cannot justify the price tag.
The food was very good. We had the sashimi moriawase, scallops and chirashi salad which were all done impeccably. However, the rest of the experience was pretty bad. We came on a Friday night before the Hayao Miyazaki concert and had made a booking. When we walked up to the host stand, there were two ladies talking to each other who then promptly left to do something else when we showed up. We waited for another Asian host to arrive before we could be seated. Then when we ordered drinks (a hitachino red ale for me and a green tea umeshu for my partner), we somehow got a Kirin and a pot of green tea. Now the server this time did politely apologize for the mix-up but for a place of Sake's caliber, this wasn't something I expect. Needless to say, the lukewarm welcome had already left a bad taste in my mouth and I'm not sure I'll come back to this location again. It's unfortunate because the food at all of the Sake's I've been to has been amazing but the quality of the service here really just put me off.
Fine dining Japanese restaurant. I often come here for pre theatre meal, but make sure you book or it can be a bit tricky. The vegetable tempura, chicken karaage and salmon avocado sushi are my favourites ️
Being a frequent diner at Sake Flinders St and Eagle Street Pier, Hamer Hall has been a big let down. Bad service, staff were inattentive and indifferent and food was below the ball park. Definitely a management oversight. Very unlike the normal Sake experience. If you have an important client meeting- go elsewhere.
Food was all exceptional. Cocktails are inventive and delicious. Staff were of varying competency but friendly and helpful.
For Japanese fusion dining, this place is overpriced. The starters are ok and decent sized, but the main course (toothfish) is small in size. You can get better seafood/Japanese in Melbourne elsewhere in Melbourne. Service was just average and it was quite noisy inside the restaurant. Would not recommend this place.
I’d been here before & it was great. This second time however not as great. Service was sloppy (no one told us what dish was what when the slapped it down on the table). It’s relatively overpriced for what you get. There was a hair in one dish & $75 surcharge for the public holiday, which was over 10% of the final bill. Bit of warning about that would’ve been good & it’s actually BS given our National Employment Scheme. Overall a disappointing dining experience, granted it was a birthday we were celebrating. Oh well.
This place is fantastic for a new years celebration. 7 delicious courses, timed to perfection so you have front row seats to the fireworks. If you want try a cocktail, go for their version of an old fashion - The Zen Old Fashion. Comes with a bit of a show as they pour oakwood smoked bourbon over a green tea ice cube. Bit pricey at $150 + drinks, but worth it for a relaxed new years dining experience.
Good food but they charge a percent even for debt cards.staff are also rude. Shame because the food and setting are good.
Excellent food with knowledgeable waiters. Wine and sake are pricey, but you are paying for the location and the view on the river. Highly recommend.
Great range of sushi and there's something for everyone, even the kids. The gyoza was good although there are other better options to choose from.
Food is beyond amazing. Every dish with every bite is a memory to savour for a life time. You wont regret any dish you order here.
Amazing, fast, polite and informative service from all the staff from the point you walk throught the door to the time you leave.
I will always recommend sake to everyone that asks me where the best restaurant in melbourne.
Japanese restaurant under Hamer Hall. Tasty authentic food in a great location. Prices are a bit steep for the size of serves. Staff are efficient and service relatively quick.
My husband and I went to this restaurant for our wedding anniversary. We sat at one of the outside tables looking over the Yarra and Melbourne skyline, beautiful night scene. Staff were very attentive. Food was great and we didn't have to wait long for it to arrive. Ordered the fragrant duck and the popcorn prawn, highly recommend both.
GREAT SUSHI! And the staff were lovely to deal with. Good memories were created at this place and we will be going back.
