Saké Restaurant & Bar Hamer Hall reviews
80We had the most amazing lunch here with friends today - the Lunch Special of $49pp including favourite dishes and a glass of wine, beer or soft drink. The food was exceptional - beautifully presented and delicious! Our favourite was the popcorn shrimp - but we loved every dish, and the staff were so attentive and didn’t rush us, even when we were last in the restaurant.
Great Selection of amazing Japanese dishes, friendly, efficient service, in beautiful surrounds, will definitely be back!
Would say very disappointing experience,
Service was not the best staff could be much more attentive. Our food was served and we had not plates or sticks to eat with then no soy in the table we had to ask for that to. Food quality was average was no different to eating at a mid range sushi place defiantly not worth the price at almost $80 a head
Had an excellent experience at this restaurant in Southbank. The food was fantastic and great service and recommendations by our waitress.
Inside and outside tables - both give you a comfortable environment to enjoy the lovely food and drinks at Sake restaurant.
The $10 happy hour from 3 till 5pm has many affordable and delicious menu items to choose from.
It was a little difficult to get the staffs attention but all in all I really like it.
I went here with a relative for dinner and the food is amazing. Their sashimi is delectable, definitely order the tempura vegetables, and the prawn/shrimp popcorn is amazing. Prices are reasonable, a main will set you back around $20 to $30, and the service had no faults. The restaurant has an amazing atmosphere and their drinks menu is comprehensive. I will definitely come here again.
We booked lunch for 245pm and arrived to be told that we needed to order all our food before 3pm. We were then told at 430pm that they needed the table back for dinner service when there was no one else in the restaurant. It was meant to be a relaxing late lunch for my sons 17th birthday, hugely disappointed with the service and to be chased out of the restaurant.
Have been to Sake many times (both in Sydney and Melbourne), won’t be going again.
If you don’t want to be taking food orders after 3pm don’t take 245pm lunch reservations.
The food is good and fresh but miniature portions. At the end ends up very expensive. The same quality you can find at Gyoza Gyoza chain restaurants for the fraction of price.
Our meal was very average and well below the experience I had at Sake at The Rocks where every dish was excellent. I found the popcorn prawn dish and the bug tempura sauce overly sour so I suspect the chef went a bit overboard with the lemon juice. Everything else we had was pretty ordinary as well. The seafood was fresh, the presentation and the textures were good but the flavours just weren't there.
Nice and cozy atmosphere. The food was amazing and the service we received was on top with very good attention to detail!
We ordered the prawn dumplings (which consisted of 5 very small dumplings) along with seared Gyoga, 5 dumplings, and one glass of wine each.came to $73.food was nice but small.wine was average.really expensive for what you get!
I would not go back
Great location, especially if the sun is out and you're seated outside facing the river.
Sake is modern Japanese, they use quality fresh ingredients which kind if justifies the higher price point. The beef tataki and scallops were absolutely amazing and cooked to perfection.
The nigiri set was fresh and had good variety. The unagi was definitely the standout.
Our waitress was friendly and attentive. She had great customer service.
Food was good but slow service in start to get table. Great place for occasion. Fine dine.nice views
Had two more outstanding dishes, the tooth fish and the japanese st honore dessert.
The other dishes were good, chicken karaage, salmon belly nigiri, the chicken kushiyaki and pork belly kushiyaki.
The chicken karaage had a yummy yuzu mayo but an odd chilli dip that tastes like korean hot pepper paste. The kushiyaki were a little too modern for me as I prefer the traditional charred yakitori type of skewers.
Service is good. Staff are attentive.
I went there at night time, the view outside of the restaurant was beautiful. Inside of the restaurant was a little bit dark but clean and comfortable. Food was fantastic.
My second time here. The private dining area was very nice, and had very great service too. The desserts were amazing! Would even go back just for desserts.
The food here is excellent, the set menu is a must. Delicious food, wonderful staff and it’s very family friendly.
First date night with my wife was at Sake. The foods were good. However, I think they can serve much bolder and more extravagant foods. I was expecting something that I couldn't find anywhere in other Japanese restaurant.
The environment was great and relaxing. It was a busy Saturday night when we went there.
Overall it was a great experience. Hopefully they can serve something different next time when I come back.
Amazing food and great service, couldn't ask for more. Watch out for the 10% surcharge on Sundays though!
Food was amazing, service was great, very pricey though
Context: date night with my husband + we had 50% off food. Probably the tastiest Japanese food my husband and I have ever eaten. However, would be very unlikely to return without a similar deal as it's more expensive than what we'd value it at. Perhaps if Japanese is your absolute favourite cuisine it would be worth it.
