We had a really beautiful lunch at your restaurant at Southbank Melbourne yesterday. We were going to the ballet after 2 years of no ballet and lots of restaurants were closed or had gone completely. Saki's service, ambience and food was fabulous.then came the Dragon's Egg! Whoa! That was spectacular.so, many thanks and we'll be back. Julie Brand

Beautiful location, friendly service and amazing presentation of dishes. Highlights was definitely the sushi - super fresh and melt in your mouth.

Some dishes were quite average in my opinion - the shumai had a weird texture and the dumplings were ok, not the best.

Went here to celebrate my partner’s birthday. Service is outstanding.
Sashimi was very fresh. Overall a good experience. A bit on the expensive side, but not at all disappointing.

I dont usually write reviews but I felt that the poor service I received at Sake tonight had to be shared.
The waitress spilled the cocktails all over my sisters lap and barely apologised by offering a single napkin. I had to ask for more serviettes to clean the mess.
As the waitress had spilled both our cocktails I asked her to replace both (which she did).
When the final bill arrived not only were we charged for the 2 cocktails she had completely spilled but we were also charged for the 2 replacements.in total charged for 4 cocktails.
Additionally the manager did not come to apologise on behalf of the waitress. Very unprofessional experience.

Very delicious Japanese restaurant here in Melbourne. Definitely worth a try and the menu is absolutely amazing. The atmosphere is quite different to other venues. Would recommend going on a more quiet night instead of a Friday dinner

Really enjoyed our dinner here. Food was delicious as were the cocktails. We were seated around the corner in a dimly lit spot which was perfect for date night. Staff were very attentive with menu recommendations/suggestions. They were also accommodating when the booking prior were late vacating our table, pushing our time back to allow for the full 90min sitting. 'Sushi bar' items are a great idea, allows for a selection of the sashimi and nigiri items that you like and our selections were fresh and very tasty. We also had items from the 'raw' section as well as the 'small' section.
We commented that it would be great to sit outside on a sunny Melbourne afternoon in summer and enjoy the views with some drinks and Japanese bites - will definitely come back!

The degustation menu was great value, very friendly staff. Great selection of Sake as you would expect along with a good wine, beer and spirit list.

Way to expensive and no flavour as a customer who has taken my family pre covid. I washappy to paytop dollar for anything here but a bit of a let down tonight.
$16 for a glass of reisling and the nori crisps were tasteless.waste of money

This is Japanese food as fresh, quickly cooked with delicious sauces. We had vegetable tempura, which was crispy and cooked so that it still had a little crunch but was not too hard. The chicken karaage was tasty with a spicy sauce and a mayonnaise. The gyoza and steamed prawn dumplings were tasty while the white fish tempura was excellent. The miso glazed salmon was very good and the broccolini also delicious. The only thing not quite up to the five star rating was the miso soup which was a little flat.

If you’re looking for a great date night location, this is the perfect spot in Southbank, views of the city and their outdoor area is undercover and well heated. I have also been to their Flinders Ln restaurant which I actually preferred over the Hamer Hall menu, it was bigger and had better sushi options.
Here the cocktails are sooo good, I loved their signature list especially the Hattori Hanzo. The standouts were the popcorn shrimp which were so juicy and coated in a delicious sauce, as well as the Salmon Sushi. The dragon egg though completely stole the show as dish of the night, this was very sweet but we loved it. I think it is super pricey for what you get, personally if I’m going to spend money like this I would prefer to eat at Nobu, but it was an enjoyable dinner!

One of my favourite Japanese restaurants. They have a great selection of sakes & the food menu is always interesting. The staff always seem friendly & helpful, can't say I've ever had a bad experience here. Definitely happy to return after lockdown.

The setting is amazing over looking the river, service is really good. The food is good but not quite up to the top standard if you eat at a lot of high end Japanese restaurants. Obviously the price does not reflect high end restaurants but there is still room for improvement.

Expensive place that gives an amazing experience right from the service to the food to the drinks seen. If you want to splurge and enjoy a premium dining experience I would recommend this place. If budget is an issue then maybe not.

Great place to stop off for a light meal after shopping in the city or visiting the gallery. Try and get a table outside looking at the river - optimal for people watching!

Lovely service and food. The vegetarian course option I had was a little bit safe, but my (non-vegetarian) wife really enjoyed her dishes. Definitely recommend!

One of the finest Japanese bar in Melbourne, the sake restaurant has become a go to recommendation I give for anyone who wants to sip on Japanese sake, umeboshi and beer. Anytime you come in there is stellar service provided that can put many other bars to shame.

We had the Set Menu with Beverage matching, all the food was fantastic. Great flavours, came in hungry left satisfied.

Customer service was a huge letdown though, the drinks and food for most courses were left on the table with no preamble.
