Rumi Brunswick reviews
83I had a surprise birthday for my partner at Rumi. The staff were very attentive, and provided excellent service through the evening. The food was stunning - simply delicious (we had the banquet), and the general environment was spacious and not too noisy - perfect for the occasion. I can't recommend Rumi more if you like exotic flavours, ambiance and great service
There was a myriad of good food and heaps to Take away home. The experience of the food was fantastic.
Pro
-Food supply
-Suitable for a variety of customers
-Halal for inlaw family
- gorgeous interior
- lovely location to have the restaurant
Con
-some staff had a CBF attitude the day we attended; having to repeatedly ask for more takeaway containers only being given two small containers every second, we were a seating of 15 people! - (There was so much food provided and we needed to pack heaps up because we were soo full.) the containers were being handed ever so slowly thus nerve-wrecking.but we got there in the end.
Suggestion
-Staff to keep in mind when being asked for takeaway containers, to take a mental check on how much food is there already for us and attend to give us the take away containers all in one go
-Rearrange seating spaces; for a large party of people, especially for such a special occasion could of done with a private room, would of been pleasant.
Nice Mediterranean style restaurant, friendly stuff, tasty food. Love the quail kebab. The tiny little legs on stick are so cute. We had 2 chef selection menu. My husband has prawn allergy. They swapped something else for him. Stuff are friendly and funny. Highly recommended
Overrated and grossly overpriced! The majority of the dishes we tried were average, the exception being the quails which were excellent. The cheapest wine was the $50 'Rumi' house red. In hindsight it doesn't surprise me that the restaurant was less than half full.
Was not bad but a tad pricey, esp the house wine, but it was the surly wait staff that left a sour note on the night
I expected more of a crowd there due to the Bourdain effect, found that it was busy but not too crowded. Yummy home-style cooking meant for sharing.
Lamb and quail were delish. Enjoyed the cos And herb salad too - cut the grease of the heavier dishes and very refreshing.
Lovely waitstaff - friendly service. Reasonable prices. Worth trying out this under the radar place if you can.
I’ve been to Rumi several times over the years and have always had fantastic experiences. The food is absolutely delicious, the service is great and the atmosphere is warm and inviting.
Everything was good at rumi.
Good food, good staff. Amazing fried cauliflower, cabbage salad and lamb. But the best dish we had.the quail. Fantastic!
I recommend this place for sure
What else do you want when you go out for dinner! The interesting food is great, it’s done very well, it tastes good and the price is reasonable. The service is very attentive, especially for the guy who runs the friendly and helpful front desk, the girl is a bit new! We ordered squid and hummus, meatballs, grilled clams and other things, they are delicious! We can't really make a mistake! Will definitely come back again and will recommend this place to anyone!
Amazing dining experience - great decor, delicious menu, friendly staff. Will definitely be back again!
Modern lebanese cuisine. Make sure you try the lamb shoulder. The freekar salad is brilliant. The cheese stuffed filo for entree is a must. This is one of the best in Brunswick.
We have visited Rumi many times in the past & really enjoyed the food & ambience. For my daughter's birthday recently, she chose Rumi as her dinner outing of choice.
The food was incredibly disappointing apart from the cigars & school prawns which were as good as usual.
Every other dish we ordered (a vegetarian meal), the main flavour was salt with none of the subtlety of flavours we had come to expect from previous visits. The so called baked broccoli was appalling in presentation & flavour- a lump of a head of broccoli on an inedible stalk while the rest was just mush & salt.
I rang the restaurant the following evening & asked to speak to the manager. I was told to write an email which I did as generally feedback in hospitality is well received & it seemed fairer than posting a negative review. No response. I sent another email 10 days later, still no response.
Rude & disappointing. We will not ne going back nor will we encourage friends or family to do so.
This restaurant is very cosy. The service was excellent, the waitress was very attentive and the food and drinks arrived promptly. We ordered the banquet with beverage matching. There was plenty of food, all delicious. I would return just for a plate of the chicken wings! The Turkish Delight was delicious, and the liqueurs matched with the dessert plate were beautiful, particularly the Green Walnut liqueur with the Halva.
An absolute gem for middle Eastern food lovers. Highly recommend the banquet. Absolute in love with the lamb shoulder roast nom nom nom
I loved this place for the last 8 years and is been consistently what I always remember. It's a great way to get a broad understanding of Lebanese foods. Thank you Joseph Abboud and staff
Limited vegetarian in the degustation menu (which was compulsory for the booking that we had). There appeared to be no a la carte menu. Plates consisted to a large degree on salads and picked vegetable, and the only interesting meal was a cheese filled pastry. Food plentiful, service satisfactory, decor cold and uninviting. Expensive meal at $90 per head including 3 bottles wine shared by 8
Thank you for the most delicious dinner at Rumi last night. Every mouthful was perfection and you have managed to finally turn me into a Pinot drinker!
The best food I've had in ages. Definitely worth a visit. Probably one of my top 5 restaurants in Australia.
Love coming to Rumi or even ordering through delivery service.
Provides a fresh and authentic take on Lebanese food. There is the focus on grilling food. I always love getting grilled quail here.
I've had an event on a Sunday here and the service was fantastic. They were very accommodating for some challenging food allergy requests. My mum want massive fan of the lamb shoulder, but she's probably picky. You'd be hard pressed to find better quality let alone the price.
If you don't enjoy it, maybe you're a bit too hard to please.
The food was amazing! My partner was not too impressed reading the menu “ this is not authentic food” but soon changed his mind when we tried the yummy food.
