Delicious gnocci Would have loved to sit outside but there were no fans and it was semi under cover and so hot. Service was great and food was delicious

Delicious takeaway vegetarian pizzas. The pesto base of the pizza was great. Service was not fast due to business of holiday period so order well in advance.

Rubens is a cozy Italian restaurant located in the heart of Hepburn, Daylesford. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the staff is friendly and attentive. The gnocchi was perfectly cooked, and the sauce was rich and flavorful. The salmon steak was cooked to perfection, and the pumpkin arancini were light and airy. Service size is great for the price. I highly recommend trying gnocchi if you have the opportunity to dine at Rubens. You won't be disappointed!

My wife and I had dinner at Rubens for her birthday. The staff are very friendly and helpful with the menu. The food was excellent and they also catered for my wife's gluten intolerance.

We discovered this “pearl” of the mountain by accident. The beautiful food kept us coming back for more. This restaurant where we spent two wonderful nights gave us a very big surprise. Delicious food and super friendly service.

The packed food we ordered here is still very good to sustain us through an early morning without breakfast. We will consider returning to this place because of this restaurant, and are looking forward to meeting the staff again in the near future!

Lovely spot in Hepburn with a lovely outdoor area which was perfect for our evening. Cocktails are very well priced and we’re delicious. Trio of Dips was a great starter and the mains were beautiful. Highly recommend the gnocchi. The only reason it doesn’t get a 5 star is because we requested the meat rare but it was medium well and no steak knife was provided. Besides that great place to have dinner!

We visited Rubens the night before New Year’s Eve on a recommendation from a Daylesford local. We were told to book as it is popular and it was very busy so lucky we did, a few turned away. Thank you to Vineet our waiter who was amazingly accommodating to our table of 4 with a lively toddler. We had lots of room and a parking spot for the pram! He organised the kids food to come out first so we had a settled small person and a less stressed mum! Food was incredible. Vegetarian lasagne, calamari and seafood marinara were a big hit with our table. Would definitely recommend. Will definitely return!

The service was fine, but the food tasted terrible. The pasta was still hard and served, and the rice was too salty to eat. The chefs are all Indian, and they only put on the hair net when they see more customers.

Went for the great reviews as was looking for seafood but not really a specialist in that area. Nothing that soecial about the place, not fussed if I never go again.

Good, simple, easy meal in Hepburn Springs. Not the greatest in terms of food but for its price, it's considered really good. It gets very busy so booking is recommended. Friendly and quick service as well.

A great menu with a wide range that made my choice difficult! Food presentation and quality was excellent and the service staff were prompt and very friendly. A great value dining experience in a location that seems all too often overpriced. Cons- food delivery was a little slow (but not excessive) Gluten free, vegan and vegetarian options were not clearly displayed in the menu. Otherwise, highly recommended.

This restaurant came as a recommendation from a friend. The service was great, but the food was disappointing.
Ordered the bruschetta and garlic bread for entree, which was enjoyable. Toasted bread topped with fresh ingredients for a balanced bite. Also ordered the chicken parma and pumpkin risotto for mains. The parma was quite average, lacking flavour and seasoning. The risotto was lacking in many aspects unfortunately. It smelt and tasted like Indian curry; just the combination of spices were quite odd and took away from the pumpkin, which was meant to be the star of the show. The texture was very gluggy - could have done with a bit more hot stock to finish. The diced onion in the risotto was also (very) roughly chopped and lacking consistency; with pieces cut and ranging from ~1cm squares all the way to ~6cm long.

Recommended by my friends and 2nd on trip adviser.
Well. Well was i disappointed absolute rubbish.
Has changed owners.
Dont bother go elsewhere!

Yes i was there last night i got a bbq pizza that had curry powder and chilli in it and frozen chicken pieces absolutely disgusting.

My partner had a spaghetti Bolognese that had indian inspired flavours.

Such a shame!

Had a lovely experience. Staff super friendly and very pleasant, food so delish and not over priced like so many other restaurants. No wonder it was full. Congrats!

First time having a meal here for some time, and while it had potential I was ultimately underwhelmed. My partner ordered a chicken parmigiana and it was sooo small, I’m not exaggerating when I say it looked like a child sized meal on a big plate. Both pastas me and my sister ordered were pretty average, lots of sauce compared to pasta and again, really small portion sizes especially for pasta. We were also waiting for what felt like forever, lots of takeaway orders coming and going but ours took a long time to come out. We spent about $160, can’t say it was worth it unfortunately.

I order takeaway seafood marinara which was totally bland. I only can taste parsley.seafood portion was way below according the price range.missing proper seasoning: (

Rubens was recommended to us by the motor in we stayed at. So glad we asked. The food was delicious and generously sized. The staff were amazing. Recommend booking ahead as it's a rather busy place which shows its good. Kudos to Natalie for squeezing us in on short notice

Best PASTA i have ever had coming down here. I’m from melbourne and when i order pasta, it’s okay from melbourne. I came here and the PASTA IS INCREDIBLE

It’s a great experience. The ambiance is very welcoming and charming. Amazing food and service. Staff are extremely knowledgeable and make great recommendations. From the starter to the dessert the quality and tastes of everything was outstanding. I recommend to everyone! I would like to come back here again and again.

Amazing.
The food is delicious, the staff are wonderful, and the service efficient and attentive.
They fit us in with a late booking at short notice, and made every effort to make us comfortable and relaxed.
And when dinner was served -oh my goodness! The carbonara was to die for, the garlic bread was just the right balance of crispy and delicious, and everything tasted like Nonna made it just now, flavoured with love and served fresh to her grandchildren.
