Royal Standard Hotel reviews
59Great Spot, near to Flagstaff. Lots on menu to choose from, very good prices. We had Scallopini and Pescetore, both large serves and delicious. Staff very friendly.
Absolutely brilliant. Quiet Sunday afternoon pub with a few locals to watch Formula 1.
Friendly and understanding staff. Kid friendly and accomodating for our 7yr old. Generous and fair staff and a relaxing environment after a crazy week. Wings were good, seats were comfy.
Will visit again when back in Melbourne.:)
Thankyou all for service today:)
Royal Standard Hotel has the perfect ambiance of a timeless pub, with a relevant menu of old favorites, with innovation and excellence, coupled with healthy servings.
Complete with superb attentive and unobtrusive pleasant and effective service.
A Pub to try! Make tracks.
Staff are lovely that’s definitely not an issue, but the waitress who we could tell was new needs more training tbh. She couldn’t answer any questions relating to your menu at all & didn’t know any of the foods. (She should’ve studied the menu / had a decent idea before starting.) we then asked to keep one menu with us after ordering but within 10 minutes she asked to take it away.when we told her we wanted to keep it? Every 10 mins she then asked us if we were ok, which is nice once every so often but not every 10 mins while we’re eating as it’s a constant interruption to dinner. Then she started clearing one persons plate before everyone had finished eating. Is it not etiquette to wait till everyone is complete so that those left eating don’t feel uncomfortable? Also when speaking to us it wasn’t very professional, instead more of a “yeah idk I guess” sort of mannerisms. More like she’s speaking to her mum instead of serving customers. She was kind & clearly young, but old enough to be more professional.
The food was nice but the chicken wings could’ve been marinated longer. They were very white for honey soy flavoured wings. The garlic white sauce with the chicken breast was also extremely runny like water, it needs flour to thicken it. Chicken breast was also dry / over cooked. Overall it was a decent dinner experience but nothing amazing to keep you wanting to come back. Just average i guess, not the worst but not the greatest.
Generous servings and friendly service. Very noisy and for some reason there's a TV in the dining area ️
Another great little back street pub, We use this pub quite regularly with work for take away lunch and it never disappoints!
Had disappointing experience with staff. Rude, discriminating behaviour by Frank (Owner). If it's with regular customers, can happen with anyone.
Definitely not going back.
Such a great experience (I’m writing this as a stuffed satisfied customer).
The pub was very homey, and had an old school comfort vibe.
I understand it’s a family run business, with majority of the menu being Italian.
The portion sizes were enormous, which I loved.
Meals were definitely value for money.
We got the polenta chips, seafood pasta and the baked barramundi (which was on special).
The seafood pasta was amazing.
When I come back again (which I will), I will struggle to order something other than the seafood pasta (it was that good).
Excellent dinning experience. A compliment from all who attended.
Reasonable costs, great staff!
Had a great schnitzel, didn’t disappoint at all!
Be aware of the min $10 charge for card payments if you are just getting a beer.
Great Local pub
Our local Pub never fails to deliver good pub grub and very friendly staff.
We tried the popular dishes there! And they were delicious! I tried pasta with crab and was amazing.
Magnificent Italian food, the best arancini balls that I have ever eaten. Superb Matriciana Tortellini, brilliant pizzas.
Super friendly staff in a comfortable atmosphere. Highly recommended.
Good atmosphere and very friendly staff, a great country pub. Highly recommend the local Flathead tails as they are fresh and delicious.
Not only delicious food but the staff are wonderful and by far the best customer service I’ve experienced in Melbourne. Would recommend for anyone looking for a lovely meal out and drinks with friends!
Just a Great Pub to Hang out at. Used to go for Live Music in the Front Bar. Now with Covid19 we luv the Al Fresco Lawn Bar. What a Beautiful Streetscape. Hope they don't take this aspect of Melbourne away. Jusy softens the City so much. Cheers Nicko and Claire Xoxo
A charming Melbourne family pub with wonderful attentive staff. The meals are well priced with great flavour. Drinks are especially well priced. I believe the tiramasu and gelati is home made. Very yummy. Easy to get there, easy to park, there is an authorised side road dining area - subject to council.
Finally found a pub I regard as my local.there are a couple of things on the menu that are a bit plain. But that is my only criticism, the service and ambience completely makes up for it.
You want friendly service, top quality pub food, do yourself a favor and visit Lucy and Frank at the Royal Standard.
It is the best authentic tiramisu I ever had in Melbourne, and it is very delicious. The service was great.
