I’ve had nothing but great experiences at Rokk Ebony Malvern! All the staff are super lovely and offer great advice and opinions if you’re not too sure what you want done to your hair. I’ve had blonde foils and I’ve also had my hair turned significantly darker - both results were amazing, the colour lasted and my hair was left feeling fresh and new. Laura is my stylist and she is fantastic and what she does! Definitely recommend!

I've been here 3 times now and I couldn't be happier about the service provided. I came in with a botchy job from another salon and last minute decided to call Rokk Ebony Malvern and I'm so glad I did! Laura did a full head of foils and was able to achieve a stunning cream blonde just as I requested, her work has been beyond my expectations each time! All the girls are really friendly and helpful throughout the service. I will be back for many more visits.

I’ve been going to Rock ebony for the last 4 years at the Toorak Location, unfortunately, this time they were busy so I had to go to Malvern. What a mistake!

I asked Nadine for a gold rose that I wanted to be pinker, as I always do I bring photos to give references of what I want, they said my mistake was to show different photos and not be clear, but even if that was confusing, how can it be possible that they applied 2 different shades of pink in my hair, half of the head was pink/purple and the other pink/red, and I still had blonde that wasn’t covered.

Who expects that from one of the best salons in Melbourne?

I had to argue with them, they wanted to make me believe that having 2 different pinks was right and beautiful, after discussions with Nadine and Fiona they decided to fix it, another big mistake, I went back home after 6 hours at the salon with the back of my head pink, and a brown/blonde at the front, damaged hair and hungry. Still paid the 400 dollars they charged me for it.

The manager offered for me to go again the next day if I wasn’t happy, Of course, I wasn’t.

I really appreciate the help from the manager, owner and the Technical Director AJ as he tried really hard to fix my hair. My hair is completely damaged today like never before, it is falling out and scares me.
I still have pink and blonde and a dark brown colour on the top of my head that is actually not my hair colour, I had to go to my work Xmas party like this, and Now I have, to spend Christmas, New year and my Birthday with this hair. Plus I already spent 160 dollars on Olaplex treatment to make sure my hair goes back to normal and is fine to be fixed in 6 weeks.

At the end they recognized that they ran out of colour, so they actually applied 2 different colours of pink which defies common sense.

Never going to be back again!

Update: Last photo is how much hair is falling after a month, with a simple brush. I am Still trying to make my hair stronger and spending money on treatments.

I went to Rokk Ebony in Malvern to have my hair styled and was very disappointed with the whole experience. I don't usually feel comfortable giving a negative review but the quality of the job was not at all what I expected from one of Melbourne's top hair salons. Will not return and would not recommend!

My first visit at Rokk Ebony was highly disappointing and upsetting. I had walked in with blonde hair, asking for a natural auburn/copper solid colour but walked out with bright elmo-red roots and almost black ends. I am usually too shy to point out if I am not happy with something. I did mention to the hairdresser that it was far too dark, but it was insisted that it 'suited me more than the blonde (I had originally walked in with) ' and would 'wash out to my desired colour shown at the start of my visit' so I paid and left. After a few hours it was encouraged by my friends and family who could see that my confidence had completely dropped, that I needed to address the issue and go back to have it fixed. I messaged the instagram of this company and received very generic and cold responses with no apology. I was then contacted by the manager who invited me back to have it fixed. At this point I met AJ who made me feel so comfortable and welcomed. He managed to strip the colour out and achieve what I had originally asked for. AJ took amazing care of my hair and gave it the attention and time it needed, I will only be returning to rokk ebony to see AJ again. The first 3 images are after my first visit (indoor and natural light) and my hair after the second visit done by AJ are the last 2 images. 5 STARS FOR AJ. 1 star less for my initial experience.

I have been going to rokk ebony Malvern now for 2 years and it is such a wonderful salon. I have my hair coloured and styled and Nadine does such an awesome job of making me walk out each time feeling beautiful. Everyone there is lovely and attentive and unlike other salons in the past, they are so organised and efficient that I am never left sitting around waiting and I am able to schedule my day with certainty. They also have a great deal on blow-waves (discount if you buy upfront) so now I can go each week and have salon hair all the time. How life-changing that has been,! If you want a salon where you feel special with super professional stylists, this is the one for you.

I recently had my hair cut and styled at Rock Ebony Malvern. My stylist was AJ who was an absolute star. I have come to the conclusion its the best haircut of my life. He also recommended some products which are fantastic, the EVO shampoo/conditioner and the SYSTEM PROFESSIONAL hair serum. Will return for sure.

A massive thank you to AJ and Jade for the 7 hours worth of work on my outrageously thick head of hair. To say you exceeded my expectations would still be an understatement. After deciding to take hair matters into my own hands during lockdown (box dye, bleach baths, chemist tube colours.oh god) I decided to take the plunge and completely restyle my hair and change the colour! I am absolutely stoked with the results and cannot thank the team at Rokk Ebony Malvern for making me feel so at home, for your patience, attention to detail and for treating me like an absolute princess for an entire day. I appreciate it more than you’ll ever know and I’m already looking forward to returning! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Unfortunately I had two bad experiences at this salon. Both times I was left waiting for more than 20 minutes for my appointment. My first colour was far too light and resulted in a brassy orange colour and awful regrowth. When I went back for it to be corrected the colour improved but this time my cut was awful. The stylist did not listen to what I wanted and I ended up with chunky layers that are much shorter than what I asked for.

First salon I envision keep coming back to! Fiona has cut my hair into a gorgeous pixie twice now and even after my "COVID" haircut (DIY trimmer) she managed to get my hair looking back into shape. Can recommend her for short hairstyles which is not easy to come by in Melbourne!

This was my first visit to this Salon and I was pleased by my experience. Although my hair job was a massive transition from copper colour to brunette balayage, Fiona did an amazing job with colour and she finished it with nice hair cut. I was listened to and I got exactly what I wanted. I left happy and I will be getting back.

It has now been my second time I have got my hair done there and the staff are so lovely & very knowledgeable. They talk you through each step and give you examples to show they are on the same page of what final look you are wanting. I'm blonde & get a full head of foils each time. The service I receive from Laura is exceptional! She is always so professional and lovely to deal with. If you are looking for a hairdresser and someone you can trust, this is the place for you.

The ladies here are an absolute godsend, in particular, Fiona. I went in for a full head of foils, root stretch & toner. Fiona didn't let me leave without being 100% happy with my hair even after doing 2 toners. She went above & beyond to make me feel comfortable and it was so amazing to have a hairdressers that cares so much!

Today Laura did my hair and I love it! She really listened to what I wanted and explained the process and made it very clear what was happening, it turned out very natural and sunkissed which is exactly what I wanted.
Best cut and colour I’ve had in a while:)

This was my first visit to this salon and I was more than pleased and impressed by my experience. I wanted simply a half head of foils done and toner, no blow dry etc (I have curly hair) and I was listened to and got exactly what I wanted with no pressure to have additional treatments. Everyone was so nice and genuinely friendly, and Nadine did an amazing job with my foils. Highly recommend!

I’ve been going to Rokk Ebony for probably around 8-9 months and I’m always really happy with the service with my cut and colour. The staff are refreshingly honest and Nadine is the coolest hairdresser. I always look forward to an appointment with her because I know it will be full of laughs and friendliness.

Helen did such fantastic job with my hair and she was so sweet. Exactly what I wanted! Will definitely be back next time.

I hate having a haircut as I don't trust anyone with my thick and wavy hair, but honestly this is the best place I've been to! They were on time, extremely polite and most of all Helen was so lovely and gave me a wonderful haircut & blow wave. Very reasonable pricing as well! I received so many compliments. My sister also had her haircut by Helen and it looks incredible! We both wondered what we've been doing this entire time. Absolutely recommend trusting Rokk Ebony Malvern with your hair!:)

Saw Nadine for Blonde foils, We has a long discussion about what u wanted to achieve and what I did not want to achieve! Unfortunately she did what I did not want which was going too blonde to fast for my hair! They also up sold me to not only use Curaplex (which I told them I don’t like as I have heard it’s basically just a mask) they also used khairpep saying it was an awesome life saver for damage, blah, blah, blah. They also recommended I buy the take home part for $89, I said next time, but ended up buying it from another salon the next day due to worry that if I didn’t use it my hair would break.
Long story short, I don’t know if it’s the Khairpep or The curaplex masking wearing off, but I have washed my hair once a week for the 4 weeks since and Am using the at home khairpep and on the second time I used it my hair is literally falling out everywhere and breaking! I am beyond upset!
I was willing to overlook that they took my hair way to blonde with no dark contrast to break it up, but the fact that my hair is breaking and falling out is not on and I don’t know why they bothered selling me all this breakage treatments like curaplex and my hair is worse then ever! I have been blonde off and on for over 17 years and this has NEVER happened before! I have heard this happens with curaplex! That’s why I didn’t want to touch it! But they didn’t want to do my hair without it and that khairpep stuff and convinced me to do it!
So all that to say.they did what I asked them NOT to do! Then now my hair is breaking because there useless products MASK the damage! Beware the following few weeks for horrid hair loss and breakage!
