Super rude staffs. The worst customer service ever. Do not order their chicken, the only Chinese restaurant using chicken from supermarket, overpriced and tasteless. This restaurant doesn’t deserve even one star, should’ve given them minus if I can. Would never go there again.

Staff very rude. You don’t get what you paid for. Over priced and under served especially the lobster. Once we ordered lobster, priced at $80 per pound. X 2.2 to get kilo weight. That dish alone cost $230.00. Guess what when it was on our table we discovered that there were four empty shell without the meat. We questioned the staff about it immediately and was not given any valid reason why it was so. So we said the meat must have been stolen by the kitchen and/or the staff

My parents went to the restaurant a couple of years ago. They revisited it today but were treated very impolitely today. My parents felt so sad that they were suspecting if they had done anything wrong. After listening to the story, I am disappointed that this restaurant is no longer the one it was before.

Great Restaurant for traditional Cantonese cuisine. Great services and authentic Cantonese food especially the BBQ foods. Will definitely return. My favorite Chinese restaurant at Glen Waverly.

Went for a feed of Chinese but thought we had walked into one of those Karen themed resturants. Staff were rude and unhelpful. Plates just thrown on the table, food we ordered wasn't delivered and we got food we didn't order. Staff were rude and condescending when asked a question. Service was slow and the only time staff moved quickly was when we stood up to leave and they slapped the bill on the table. Sadly the Macca's on the way home tasted better than what they served up.

Must have the mud crab spring onion ginger crab noodle. And the roast duck was one of the next in Melbourne too. - remember to bring cash!

The service is horrendous. I ordered a dish for $15 but they refused to allow me to pay on card as they claim there’s a $38 minimum for card payments. I didn’t have any cash on me so I offered to pay a card surcharge for my order. They said no and that the $38 minimum is “very cheap”. I then had to order another 2 dishes to make it beyond $38. Why do you treat your customers so terribly? There’s so much choice in Kingsway - there’s really no reason to go back to this terrible place!

Great roast duck, perfectly crispy skin and very well priced. BBQ pork was also very well made, I'll be back for more when I'm in the area!

10 years later and this restaurant's name still crosses my mind.
Good chinese comfort food.like really really good. The chili oil is to die for too. Hope they're doing well post-pandemic

Came to buy the roast duck for take away, and only one customer was waiting in front of us. We don’t have enough cash to pay so we ask the male cashier whether we can pay by card? Guess what? This “gentleman “ is like a language repeater, no matter what question you ask for him, he just keeps saying “ only over 38 dollars can pay by card“ and eventually ignore our request. Well, if you are the boss of this restaurant, I have nothing to say. But if you are just a waiter, and I recommend you to learn how to respect others before working as waiter. I don’t know how come you have such a superiority complex. Part of your wage is paid for the customer service. Ok, thanks for your effort, we will never come to this place buy any food at all, besides there are many alternatives for buying roasted duck.

Considering their high price the food quality is on average and the customer service is not good. Can have better Chinese food experience in other restaurants in this area.

Although the decor is slightly aged and the waitresses are very matter of fact. The Rock Kung is everything you would expect from a good Chinese restaurant. It's become an institution in Glen Waverley.

The food is delicious and well priced. I really really want to like this restaurant. I have been more than 20 times. Unfortunately, due to the wait staff, I no longer attend. The male wait staff are relatively consistent - not friendly, not rude, just business like. The female wait staff - it really depends on their mood and it's a bit of a luck of the draw with what you get that day. If you don't mind rude wait staff, then I completely recommend this place - the roast duck, the noodles, the dishes, the mudcrab (when it's in season), all fantastic. If rude wait staff will ruin your experience and make you lose your appetite, or you are bringing friends from oversea, etc - I probably wouldn't go here, just in case you might get yelled at or sworn at in Cantonese or your plates slammed on the table. But, it's up to you if you want to risk it for the biscuit.

Very "meh".
Only went in because nothing else was open.
Duck with noodles had little flavour, hardly any sauce or seasonings for noodles. Only $11. Honestly better off getting roast meats at China bar.
Seafood was ok.
Service was very pleasant and polite though.

We came in tonight for the banquet & all of the food we had was delicious.
The staff were always available to us, whilst still giving us privacy. Each course had a nice small gap between, they were timed perfectly for us.
Thankyou very much, we will be back again.

Tonight, I went to pick up dinner with my 11 year old Son. He knows that it was my late fathers favourite restaurant and one my family had gone to for nearly 40 years. I picked up the food, paid by debit card $68.00 - normally they give you free prawn crackers but as I walked out, I noticed they didn’t so I immediately walked back through the door and wanted to purchase a bag which costs $2.50. I then held up my card and she just shook her head, I held up my card again and said I’d like to pay on card, she just shook her head while speaking to another staff member in their own language and without even making eye contact with me, tapped her pen on the register and pointed to a sign that said $35.00 min. I then said, I JUST spent $68.00 in here and all she did was shake her head again and tap with her pen, all the while still having a conversation with another staff member. I pointed out that I had been going there for near on 40 years but she just laughed and shook her head again. I was so shocked by the whole thing and disgusted that it occurred. I will never go there again and I will never again recommend this restaurant to another person. I mean who do you complain to? Nobody. They have their (local business owners throughout Monash) own rules and the consumer advocate just allow it to happen. I can’t wait to move out of Monash - where I have spent the entirety of my life. I hate glen Waverley and what it’s become. Rude, greedy and unrecognisable. Thanks for nothing Rock kung

Looks like something out of the 80s, and sometimes the service is hit and miss. Food is good for that nostalgic HK feel.

With the abundant restaurant choices, we couldn’t believe we chose this place. Food wasn’t the worst but not great either, quality of food is poor, excessive use of MSG. But the worst part is the customer service, or shall I say the lack of it. The small short haired Asian woman was just blatantly rude, she yelled as us while taking order because she couldn’t read the menu (forgot her reading glasses) and did not speak enough English to know what we wanted to order. Then she slammed food on the table on two occasions. One of the worst dining experiences I’ve had, ever.

As I used to work as waitress, I always think positive side in every place I go and think twice before I give bad review. This place, I will never go back. The food is not like WOW but some dishes are very tasty. But customer service. I try to understand because the waitress ladies are like my Mom's age. But one of them treated us so bad, I was so disappointed in my Mom's birthday dinner. She is so rude and yelling at me. I can feel racism there the way she treated us. I am so disappointed. I give 2 stars because I want to acknowledge one of the lady with red hair highlight, she is so amazing and very considerate. She is so nice. Otherwise I won't even give 1 star to this restaurant. Two different lady treat us in two different ways even though same age. But as I said, I will never go back to this restaurant.
