Rochford Wines Yarra Valley reviews
93 We visited Rochford Vineyard early on Saturday 14/7/2018 on recommendation from some of our Victorian friends. Well what a winner recommendation that was - from the outset we were warmly welcomed and introduced to the beautiful Rochford wine varieties. Keith looked after our tastings and without reservation - Ive not met many that come close to Keiths shared knowledge and hospitality for wine sampling. He was fantastic!
Thankyou Rochford Thankyou Keith
I had the fish dish yesterday during our wine tour, I sent meal back to kitchen as it smelt and tasted off, very very disappointed.
I brought 3 guests for lunch. As they are small eater one of them is vegetarian. So, I ordered
1) House made dips with housemade bread. A$15.00
2) Wild mushroom & brie pithivier, beetroot & sauce a la greque A$20.00
3) Roasted mushroom, caramelised onion & smoked mozzarella A$23.00
4) Seafood, zucchini, chilli, garlic, basil & bechamel A$23.00
Waiter suggested us to add a thick fries. A$ 10.00
Thinking that if we cant finished the pizza. We can bring home. So I said, "ok. "
True enough, my guest only eaten 1 piece of seafood pizza & 3 pieces of Vege pizza. I wanted to bring home but was told they won't allow take away food. I told them, this is not normal to me and I asked, " why? " The replied was they do not have a license to take away food at Rochford. I am totally speechless.
Second time here, second time they messed up the order and I had to eat separately from the rest of the party. Servers were apologetic, but that doesn't really help. Food was ok, but I wouldn't return unless I had to or someone else was paying.
Went for wine tasting late on a weekend day and was not disappointed. Great wine. Decent price, $5 for tasting. Staff very friendly.
Staff are friendly and mostly helpful; the place is a bit noisy when full, so you would be advised to avoid busy times (weekends for example). The food we received was mostly OK, my steak was a bit on the cool side and my wife's lamb was under cooked (read raw) and had to be returned, the rest of our party's food was fine.
Great service from the wine sommeliers especially Uncle Phil! They were knowledgeable and very helpful despite the restaurant being busy. You really made us 3 girls feel welcomed!
We stopped by to try some wines, and while Rochford has certainly grown and become much more commercial and big-scale, we were very pleased with the experience at the cellar door. Keith did an awesome job spending time with us, running us through the wines, making all sorts of suggestions and encouraging us to try a much broader range of wines than we'd picked out, and having a lot of fun with us in the process, and giving us a bit of an education at the same time! Cellar door tasting is $5 per person but refundable on purchases, and given our experience, well worth it.
Beautiful. I had a voucher from Zagame Brighton. A one year anniversary of purchasing my A5 convertible! Wine tasting was fun. Meals so far great and staff pleasant and helpful! Sun is shining in the Yarra Valley today. What's not to like. It's a beautiful winery and at the moment playing host to 100's of international visitors. Makes you proud. Well done!
Waited one hour for main meal which on their menu said to be medium but was small entree size. Public holiday surcharges added onto each price. Not recommend at all.
We were looking forward to an above average lunch at the highly publicised winery & were sorely disappointed. The cafeteria style interior & the lack luster service did not equate to the $300 price tag for two. The food was average but the poorly executed desert confirmed that this establishment caters to the bused in tourist.
Book in for lunch with my partner. We were greeted warmly and shown to our table. Waiter service was good and friendly. - initially. We ordered drinks and our entrees and mains. After that we seemed have disappeared from the staff's view. After more than 45 mins we still had no entrees. When it finally arrived we were disappointed as it was cold and also they had forgotten other entree. Our mains arrived as we were walking out the door - over 1.5hrs later. Manager informed us there was a mix up in the kitchen etc. We were not the only patrons who experienced this issue. FYI - Sunday afternoon, the restaurant was only at 30% compacity. Not good enough. We drove up from Melbourne, on a beautiful day and was looking forward to a nice lunch. Went home disappointed and hungry. Won't be visiting again.
Went for lunch at Rochford today - against my better judgment but on the basis it was ‘family friendly’. My pregnant wife asked if the lamb could be cooked well only to be told it ‘comes as it comes’. Upon asking to confirm with the kitchen if that was pregnancy safe the friendly response was ‘no’. I don’t think I’ve encountered worse misplaced arrogance ever from a restaurant. Surely a venue designed only to suit tour busses at at over price. Never again.
