Rochester Hotel reviews
61Great outdoor area and plenty of spaces to enjoy a drink inside. Recommended for those needing a locale in Fitzroy that goes late in the night
Friendly staff! Unfortunately food was just ok. I am south Indian and was really looking forward to a good meal from kerala, did not live up to my expectations. Ordered the chicken thali: parota was good, rice was undercooked chicken ghee roast was ok nothing special, have had better cabbage thoran.
A real surprise - some of the best Indian food I've eaten washed down nicely with their own brew Rochey lager.
Love this menu change to Kerala food. Had the chicken thali and chips with curry sauce. Could do with a bit more curry sauce, will ask for more next, damn tasty. The chicken curry is on point and I love their roti, flakey and crispy. How English, a pint and a curry. Coming back to try the fish and the pork belly. Watch out
Excellent Indian food, the “ shut up and feed me “ menu is the best option, every course was exquisite and great value for $45. The person who served us, I believe her name is Laura had incredible insight into the menu and her wine recommendations were particularly excellent. Great to be reminded that there are still places which exist with excellent service, amazing food at a descent price. However please get a door in the ladies toilet, privacy is not over rated.
Amazingly spicy and fragrant modern Indian food, combined with friendly staff and a cool pub atmosphere. A must visit in for in the area
Good refurbished pub with nice indoor setting with a good sized beer garden. No longer a young roudy crowd so don't expect super late nights
I walked to my car. The barman was so concerned her followed me.
I had pushed the seat back and settled for a snooze and saw him peering in at me.
Now that to me is the responsible service of alcohol that should happen in all pubs
Took my dog Oscar and he loved it. The staff loved him too - gave him some treats. Any pub with good beer and is that dog friendly is 5 stars in my book.
Overpriced psuedo indian food. The luke warm rice tasted like the precooked stuff you can buy in packets from the supermarket. I was hoping for a south indian meal but this was a mixed bag of styles with nothing really inspiring except the cauliflower special which was pretty good. No dosas here or coconut milk curries. So many better options around Melbourne.
The food was awesome, as well as the ambiance.
Friendly wait staffs and prompt service. Highly recommended. Will defiantly come back later.
We paid $30 per head for their ‘feed me’ menu and got served 1 small piece of fish and 1 small dish of beef curry between 4 people! An absolute rip off - definitely wouldn’t recommend this deal! We all left hungry!
Excellent - but do your research on the menu before going. Hard to find a simple meal and everything was a bit complicated if youre unfamiliar with Indian food. No parma!
This review is for the restaurant portion. Go for the banquet. You can choose meat, vege or vegan options. They are generous with the variety of dishes they bring out and you won't leave hungry (well not unless you are a really large guy). We went for the vege option and what we got is far from the usual vegetarian fare - inventive, complex and tasty.
Not a bad place and I’m sure the food is good but any beers from the fridge and not out of the tap are ridiculously priced to the point of getting shafted. Don’t mind paying $ for a good beer but $14 for a 3 ravens juicy IPA is just taking things a bit too for IMHO.
Fun and well furnished bar with a wide variety of beers on tap, a great rotating cocktail collection and a nice looking menu. Kind of grunge/dive bar themed - but very well loved beyond the aesthetic!
I'm just going to throw this out there. I'm Indian. I'm south Indian. This place does it right. Food is super satisfying (I love you guys, but side note: I am hard pressed to say I enjoy your trivia night.it's odd, and I just can't imagine who wins it without sheer dumb luck)
This place is awesome! Was here for a wedding in the up stairs function room, Staff were amazing food was great highly recommend this place!
Cosy ambience and super cool staff. They've got a great bar with a retro feel and their recent menu featuring Kerala cuisine is a total winner!
Excellent Kerelan food! Best roti I've had so far. Delicious dessert! Wonderful service. Bit pricey!
