RedBeard Historic Bakery reviews
49Quality bakery. Caramelised onion tart was decadent. Pumpkin pizza slice was super tasty, pumpkin cooked to perfection.
Whoever celebrity rated this as the world's best bakery hasn't been too many good bakeries.
Extremely overpriced and poor service. You put an order for a coffee and a cake - food and drinks are separate"departments" over there. The result was that the coffee came way to early - by the time the cake arrived, the coffee was stone cold. This is not how customer orders should be managed.
The food (sweets) was from OK to good. The orange cheesecake and the ginger bread were really good.
I would move to Trentham for the heavenly baked goods, at Red Beard. Great service, coffee and vibe too.
Can only reiterate what so many others reviews say - you must visit this place! Vanilla slice, gingerbread, quince danish - it's all so so good!
The history that surrounds this place is fascinating and I love that they still use a big scotch oven to bake the majority of their wares.
Going here for breakfasts is an absolute delight as the coffee is delicious and the food is equally on par. I think the hardest part when visiting this place is deciding just how much bread one can take home before being seen as a glutton. It's all quality!
Here's a tip: Visiting in winter, when the snow is falling (as rare as it may be) is just beautiful.
I can never resist picking up freshly baked sourdough bread, as I can never resist that fresh bread smell.
Unfortunately the indoor dining area was closed due to Covid however there was a very large range of bread to take away and I could not resist the olive sourdough! Delicious and very fluffy too.
Great coffee. The treacle gingerbread cake is a winner! Also purchased biscuits to take home. So good.
A favourite when visiting Trentham. Cosy, lovely staff and service. Hard to decide what to eat and always take away some bread and cake
Beautiful space but I felt it was overhyped. The food is good but not great. The soughdough bread was walking out the door! It's very popular which makes it chaotic and not a restful place to sit.
Beautiful cakes / pastry, breads freshly baked and all your favourite savoury or sweet goodies are all here. You can either sit in the restaurant / cafe or you can have takeaway. Staff arearren very friendly and helpful and this toilets outside.my only criticism would be that they don't have a lactose-free milk so I missed out on my coffee here and waste across the road to have my coffee as they have lactose-free milk
The best organic bakery I've ever experienced. The fresh baked bread selection is extensive, with smaller sweet options and desserts available at the cafe. The vanilla slice may be a month's calories in one meal, but it will take your breath away - so delicious!
Bread is delicious. All of it. Come in mornings and stock up. Food in the cafe is excellent too. Coffee good for all except coffee snobs.
No skinny milk or ice - had to have a soy latte as I can't stomach full cream. Food looked nice, but I really needed a coffee so was disappointed.
Nice coffee and sour dough sweet roll. The tea was a little weak, had to let it brew for a few minutes to develop flavour.
Absolutely amazing place, don't miss it!
Staff were lovely, food was scrumptious, and the coffee was on point.
Best pie ever. Love the town and its folk. Nothing serious, just good humour, fun and hospitality. Will be back.
One of the best vanilla slice I have tried. Amazing sourdough, though price can be quite steep but rest assured you get the quality.
Is it worth the drive from Melbourne, yeah definitely.
We make pilgrimage here every time we visit the region. Their sourdough bread is legendary and everything they sell or make is consistently of the highest quality. Very good coffee and staff who are welcoming.
Great! Delicious hardy meals, funky earthy atmosphere, orders placed at counter, exellent customer service
Family members brought us here with the promise of amazing home style wood fired baked goods. For $16 we got a very tiny 10cm long sausage roll. Although tasty, the price tag was steep for the amount of food on offer. What saved the experience was a lovely baked pear & almond cake served with home made cream. Service was below average.
