RedBeard Historic Bakery reviews
49Very disappointing. The sausage rolls were lacking in flavour and the “vanilla slice” was inedible and seemed to have a cream filling instead of custard, so it all just fell out. The loaf of bread was very bland and dense. An unenjoyable experience and a waste of $80.
It is a very warm place with stories to read and a bit of mystery. Maybe because it's Halloween time is coming
Great atmosphere and friendly staff! We ordered the baked goods which were beautifully presented and looked gourmet.however, their flavour lacked depth and seasoning.
Delicious selection of items on offer at this bakery. Coffee is a winner too. Make sure you get there early so you have plenty of choices available.
Mega expensive! $9 loaf of bread, $8 single Danish pastry. Cafe was clean and nice, staff were friendly.
Lots of bread types coming straight out of the oven. The displayed items were delicious. We got treacle gingerbread and kill-a-brown-dog brownie, they were awesome.
They had amazing coffee and chai latte.
Definitely worth a visit!
The Victorian highlands towns are classic. We stopped in Trentham for lunch and found ourselves wondering laneways to this bakery. The sun shone as we sat in the courtyard of steel and stone. Our food was delicious as was the coffee.
Went there for lunch today. Had the sausage roll and egg and bacon pie. They looked great but were bland and tasteless and VERY Expensive - $24 for a coffee, egg and bacon pie, and sausage roll.
Been there twice - first and last times
Food looked good but was bland and tasteless and VERY expensive: egg and bacon pie, sausage roll, coffee $24.09
Their breakfast pie was one of the best pies I've ever eaten. The croque monsieur was also amazing

I wanted to try one of everything but we settled on a sausage roll and the vegetarian pizza - the homemade tomato sauce was and sausage roll very very good. I took a bacon and egg pie to go too. Well worth the quick stop on our regional exploration
One of the best bakeries with the best Croque Monsieur I’ve had ever. Great to stop by after a nice walk at Trentham Falls!
Everything is so worth trying bc their pastry is made so buttery and flaky, but their filling is loaded with so much flavour. Highly recommend their vanilla slice, bacon egg quiche and sausage roll!
Coffee is okay but very cheap to keep you going in the early frosty morning of winter.

Cakes & pastries very ordinary and soooo expensive! Give this bakery a big miss, not sure why other people think it’s so special? Very disappointed.
A local gem that shines with their artisan sourdough products. A well maintained old establishment that produce sourdough masterpiece. Tried their pizza slices, croque monsiour and pear cake slice. Love at first bite. Beautiful flavour and top rank sourdough. Definitely worth every visit when passing Trentham or even special visit to the town.
Great coffee. Best bread around. If you're in on a Sunday I definitely recommend their "Mr. Potato Bread".
Beautifully prepared breads and pastries in a lovely rustic style. Bread and butter pudding was absolutely amazing and heated up perfectly when we took it home. Its an unassuming little spot but well worth dropping into, as the area is filled with interesting little shops and side alleys.
It felt as if the time stood still in Trentham. What a beautiful little village, about an hour drive from Melbourne CBD.
I was first amazed to see the many ducks waking in the streets, yes! In the streets?
And then I entered the Red Beard Historic Bakery, an enchanted tiny little bakery that is still using a SCOTCH OVEN, dating back to at least 1892.
I enjoyed a hot cross bun and a long black in a beautiful atmosphere. The time travel was amazing, the hot bun spicy and exotic and the coffee hot and delicious.
What a wonderful time travel?
Great bakery with delicious food, very cozy and beautifully styled cafe. Attentive staffs even when short staffed on a busy public holiday. Felt very welcome here with my 5 mo and not rushed at all. Will defintiely be back
