Not a bad word to say about this venue! Food was absolutely delicious from the cheesy garlic bread to the dumplings, bao and Nasi Goreng. Even an 11th hour change request was not a problem. Bustling venue, perfect for families - our son loved the indoor playground. Great drink options, friendly and easy going staff. Our whole party said it was a shame we don’t travel very often to Ballarat as we would be back all the time. Thanks for having us!

Got a chicken and avocado sandwich with chips for lunch. A nice serving size for the price. Gluten free available on request.

As a place for a drink it looks good, but I went with the family for food and the food was no good. Kids meals are a bit silly, in general kids eat chips and they cost hardly anything but there was lucky to be 10 chips on the plate. The wife had risotto, good flavour but was a puddle of oil. I had a Parma, now that's hard to screw up but it was so over cooked it had gotten chewy.

We had a group function in the sports bar, great service, friendly staff & good atmosphere, the share platters were generous & tasty. The salt & pepper calimari was delicious!

Nice place, had a great meal at a reasonable price. Would definitely go back when back in town.

Six of us were in Ballarat for the weekend and visited here on Saturday night. We enjoyed our meals in a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere. Meals were good and well presented and were served by Marli who was professional, friendly and attentive. Thank you Red Lion, chefs and Marli.

Food was lovely and the staff were very friendly. The restaurant was busy but the food came out very quickly.definitely coming back soon.

Great place! Quite possibly the best in Ballarat! Great food, cocktails and staff. Highly recommended.

Don't buy the vegan snitzel.was literally a slice of Cauliflower.not crumbed and just napoli sauce all over with cheese on top and burnt around the edges.very disappointed

I went with my 4 year old son. Meal variety was good with a really good selection for kids. Main reason for visiting was the playground and a meal. Playground is a very good set up and the facilities were great. Atmosphere was very inviting. Even the pricing was very reasonable, I would saying that the Parma was medium sized compared to the monsters that some places offer but this was juicy and had a very good taste. Overall very much enjoyed and will come back.

What’s disgrace! Staff not wearing masks properly serving locals without masks - we are spending money here as travellers - never again! Locals being abusive and making fun of Covid rules!

Terrible customer service by Dean who I am lead to believe is the manager. Extremely rude, will not be back

Meal was lovely, not long of a wait at all. But they need to turn the heaters on if you are going to sit people out side to dine

Have always loved this place and the staff however yesterday when I had misread the signage (it’s changed since I was there last) and accidentally walked into the gaming room with my two kids, I was approached by a very annoyed staff member practically yelling at me to get out and telling me over and over that kids can’t enter. I know that and it was an honest mistake and as I asked him to show me where to go to get to the bistro he just kept going off at me for bringing kids in. I completely understand the no kids part and I would never intentionally take my kids in but there was absolutely no need for him to speak to me the way he did. I’ve had a very hard time lately and he almost brought me to tears and now I don’t want to come back. I apologise for accidentally walking in there but it just could have been handled much better than that.

We visited for dinner one night, and breakfast a couple of days later. The menu is really extensive but not overly expensive. The servings are very generous. Staff are friendly and very attentive. There is also a good segregation between the Restaurant, the Lounge Bar and the Public Bar. The fresh Carton on tap is highly recommended! Probably one of the best pubs I have visited in a long-time.

Find it amazing that they book tables where they know there is a major problem with the cold caused by children entering and exiting the play area
The careless attitude of staff and think that it's okay to offer alternative when you just about to finish your meal. My youngest son did not eat his food as he was too cold

Food, service was fantastic but unfortunately bathrooms we're an absolute mess, water leaking on the floors, bins over flowing with waste and smelly.

The food was great, nice modern place.
Very relaxing with a nice fire place in one lounge and TVs with sports playing in other areas and it also has an enclosed playground for the younger kids to play in.
I would definitely go back here again.

Only started going to Red lion about 2 months ago, and have already visited this awesome place about 8 times! My absolute favorite place to dine in Ballarat. The food is superb! The atmosphere is elegant and relaxing. The prices are extremely reasonable. The Chicken Parma is simply the best I’ve ever had!
Can not recommend this place highly enough!
