Princess Theatre reviews
63Venue was ok, very small theatre, was hard to last the tedium of 5 hours in those terribly uncomfortable and small seats. As any theatre, price of snacks are hideous. Pity the show producers don’t make the show 100% visible for us poor people that don’t want to pay more than $250 for a seat in the nose bleed top tier. Even the kids complained about walking the 7 flights to get to the seats!
Watched a fantastic performance here. The venue is nice. Despite there not being a great deal of legroom, I was able to thoroughly enjoy the show.
Saw Harry Potter and Cursed Child here - it was absolutely amazing. The staff were very helpful to an out-of-towner such as myself, and even with an emergency cast change during the show, the theatre handled it well and promptly.
The only downside is that this the foyer and amenities are very squishy! It was clearly designed for a smaller number of patrons, and having the gift shop in the foyer didn't help with the movement of people either.
I've been here a couple of times. Once to see The Book of Mormon, and once for both parts of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Both productions have been fantastic.
The theatre plays a large role in the feeling of the production, one that extends beyond the stage and the performers. You must see it and feel it to believe it.
The Princess Theatre is a fantastic venue and a key piece of Melbourne's culture.
I saw Harry Potter and the cursed child in princess theatre and it was mind blowing experience. The setup and the magic induced spells, dementos. So very well performed outstanding and theatre enables the play to do so. Theatre is beautiful and well managed.
A spectacular theatre, and an amazing show. My wife and I watched both parts of Harry Potter and The Cursed Child at the Princess Theatre. The cast and crew were amazing, the lighting and sound was the best I have experienced, and the staff on the doors and the bars were professional and efficient. A beautiful old building in immaculate condition; this is a truly must visit Theatre if you are in Melbourne.
Beautiful building and very friendly staff. Just a heads up that you need to take your tickets electronic or physical with you if you are leaving the building during an interval. The guards on the doors won't let you in without the tickets.
Went to see the curise child. They seriously need to consider replacing the chairs as it is so uncomfortable to sit and watch long plays.
Saw Harry Potter And The Cursed Child here (which is AWESOME). Revamped theatre is fantastic now. Decent staff, easy to get in and out. An all round good experience.
AMAZING! Must see show, just like real magic! See part 1&2 on the one day and go for dinner in between.
Saw Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. I do love this theatre. Only downside is the seats right on the aisle have a piece of metal angle that turns into your leg. You don't get this on any other seats.
It's great. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child opens there Jan 19th, the third worldwide venue after London and New York. Don't miss it!
After coming here I can now say that I have visited the three major theatres in Melbourne, and this one was to see The Book of Mormon. The foyer area here is quite small, which means on theatre night, especially Fridays, it gets pretty packed, and like the others the food and drinks are pretty pricey. Best to bring your own. Parking in the city is always expensive so being close to the railway station does help.
Beautiful old theatre. It a steep hike to the upper circle so not goid for the elderly or if you are unstable on your feet.
Lovely old theatre. Could be more seats in tbe foyer prior to performance to sit and have a drink. I like the way thre is a centre aisle in the stalls. The decor is beutiful. Performance was amazing.
Very historical and beautiful venue to watch Mama Mia. The sound and music are beautiful. Snacks are quite costly though. Better to get the show package if you need something to drink and eat during the show.
Beautiful Theatre with modern technique. Save Aud 8 per ticket by buying them directly in the Theatre box Office.
Loved the venue but only one toilet upstairs which was disabled toilet. Had to walk down 7 steps. Would be great if they could put a few toilets for women upstairs.
Probably the best theatre in Melbourne. Sat in the grand dress circle for the first time and was impressed with the view. Beautiful architecture and design. Photo is of view from Grand Dress Circle Row B Seat 36.
Went to see mamma mia.
Had the best experiance for some time.
Once seated in grand circle (a lot of stairs) I found the view and ambience quite satisfactory.
The show its self was fantastic. The players from old to young were exceptional.
They had the audience dancing in the aisles.
Thank you for a great time.
