Princess Theatre reviews
63Beautiful theatre enriched with that classic architecture and design. Very beautiful inside and out. Thoroughly enjoyed Harry Potter when it was it season. Definately worth a visit to enjoy a show if ever in Melbourne!
The staff at The Princess Theatre give nothing but first class service. The politeness and courtesy shown to myself and my wife during the final Harry Potter show was nothing short of stellar. The security staff were polite, trustworthy and very courteous. This extends on to all the staff my family encountered on the night. The team at the Marriner Group worked, from my perception, very well together.
Princess Theatre is a beautiful and historic building that encaptures the grandeur of a past era.
Easily accessible by public transport with Parliament station very close by and trams running nearby.
I love the stained glass windows, beautifully ornate ceilings, carvings and intricate paintings that are dotted throughout
It had an amazing makeover to facilitate Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Carpets, walls and seating were redone- and are much better for it.
Seating is pretty comfortable, (even for those long productions) and although I found viewing pretty good from most areas in the 1st balcony, nothing beats front row middle.
A few toilet areas, spread around for accessibility and multiple areas to purchase memorabilia or food/ drinks makes it easy to avoid huge queues.
Oh, and of course, H. P and the Cursed Child was magical theatre.a bloody brilliant production. I enjoyed the updated, condensed version more than the 2 parts- better effects, more magic and less unnecessary words.
Extremely overwhelmed by my visit here! Went here for the Harry Potter and Cursed Child play and i am out of words. The theatre itself is already grand and elegant inside out and being decorated with more of harry potter element surely level it up even more, they even add some creature statues to make it more hogwarts-feel. The play was mesmerizing and beautiful, worth all the hype and pennies. This play is certainly every Potterhead’s dream, undeniably a must-see!
A wonderful venue and some great shows! The Harry Potter production was absolutely incredible, way better than anticipated, even with high expectations! The venue itself was really nice and very clean. The area can get very crowded during showtime as expected, but the door personnel do a good job staggering the crowds and controlling the flow. Definitely recommend the Harry Potter Cursed Child production!
An absolutely fantastic experience, friendly staff who made sure we r all covid aware//safee the show was wonderful, everything was perfect.i'll go again, if not harry potter it will b another show!
Watched Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Brilliant production, Princess staff were thoughtful and patient and ensured everyone was where they were meant to be and very accommodating with time limits etc in regards to checking in for COVID tracing. Facilities were sparkling clean and the upstairs merch stand had no one at it.
We were given Stalls Row L seats 10 and 11 due to rescheduling from the Covid lockdown early June. It was more towards the side than middle. The row in front of us were empty and after much hesitation, we moved to the row in front towards the middle and had a fantastic view - row K seat 19 and 20.
We went and saw Harry Potter and the Cursed Child here and it was spectacular. They changed all the theatre fittings to match the act which was very clever and even a secret surprise midway through!
Phenomenal. Absolutely stunning building, great staff and the play we saw (Harry Potter and the cursed child) is just fantastic
Harry Potter is the best show ever. All aspects are brilliantly performed, and the sets are incredible. One hell of a production. Must see
An absolutely beautiful theatre and home to Harry Potter. The production was astounding. The theatre fully embraced the Harry experience.
The best theatre experience.
Seats are appallingly small, came home with cut into bruised shins from the pressure of being jammed into the seat infront. We were a party of three and all could not believe it. I couldn't imagine how worse it would be for someone 6 foot. Will not see a show at this theatre again with how this theatre thinks it is acceptable to treat patrons.
Ive been here for tickets and ive seen shows there before.love the place.it always makes me think.how many shows have performed here over the years.grand old building that it is.i found staff there very helpful and friendly.great place
Food and drinks are expensive. Seats are not very comfortable and you are very close to your seated neighbour.
You can take your own snacks in so thats a bonus
The best and only place to watch HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSE CHILD. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS THEATRICAL PERFORMANCE TO ANYONE, WHETHER A POTTER FAN OR NOT. THE PRODUCTION FOR THIS STAGE PERFORMANCE IS OFF THE CHARTS AND THE CASTS ARE AMAZING!
Went to see Harry Potter. The theatre is beautiful. Reasonably small compared to the other theatre's we have been to. Most seats are just as good as the really expensive ones.
Amazing Venue with friendly staff and within a great location of the CBD.
Watched the Harry Potter show and the place is even more magical.
Beautiful theatre but the seating is only good if you're skinny AND short AND have narrow shoulders. Being only one isn't enough but if you tick non of the boxes it is so uncomfortable, my back still hurts.
I had to put my arm around my dad's shoulder so we could comfortably sit.which as a 30 year old woman wasn't exactly what I wanted to do.nor did he enjoy it when I jumped because of a scary part in the show as he'd forgotten I had my arm around him.
Also I probably will have arm rest shaped bruises on my tuchus do to the small seating having fixed arm rests that Barbie couldn't rest her arm on.so cheers for that.
Also men you're all good toilet-wise, but ladies, be prepared to wait in line for the toilets (this isn't uncommon in any live theatre, but I'd be remiss to neglect to mention it.)
Other than that, super clean, friendly staff, great sound, great spot in town, near lots of restaurants and Parliament station.
Great place, have only had the opportunity to see a couple of shows here but on both occasions I couldn't speak more highly, staff are very friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble, service and organisation is exceptional
