Prahran Market reviews
81 Great little market. When comparing to QVM, South Melbourne & Dandedong, by far the smallest. I drove and found easy parking at the back and the parking rates were very reasonable ($4.10 for 2 hours).
In short, I found the eateries and delis to be awesome, but the produce section (fruit, veggies, meats & seafood) to be behind the other markets in terms of variety and price. My highlights would be Wasshoi to eat and Sweet Greek for little deli snacks.
Favourite market in Melbourne especially the flawless flower shop and 2 organic stores. The veggies and fruit with no chemicals are real gifts from mother nature and so fresh and happy.
Prahran Market at South Yarra is a nice market to visit.
Smaller in size and crowd when compared to Queen Victoria Market and South Yarra Market.
A good numbers of shops, food, eateries and goods to satisfy all your needs.
The flowers at the florists are lovely.
Highly recommended if you are visiting South Yarra.
For all of your hardware and 'around the house needs' this fine Prahran Mercado shoppe and its proprietor Terry will have you covered. Not to mention the best and most reasonably priced knife sharpening in Australia. I trust Terry with my finest Swiss knives and will drive twice a year from as far as South Gippsland to get them sharpened by the maestro himself. Marvel in the spectacle as he listens to classical music, sharpening your knives with a artisan's finesse and grace on his precision tuned wet stone bench grinder.
Very nice market that offers a large variety of fresh products and local artisans'crafts. Worth visiting even just for browsing.
Has to be one of the nicest markets in Australian. The seafood hall specially has a freshness and character in its operation. Of a 4.45 on Sunday you are treated with one of the impossible things to take place at Prahran markets, the 50-90% discounting of the stock we are yet to buy, and the Italian boys are vicious, and they get into fights for the best bits. It's just a 5 out of 5 for the old market and it will only improve over the next few months as it is renovated.
Tiny market, beautiful, bright and like the outdoor space. A bit pricey but worth it because of the best quality.
It's a market with everything you need under one roof. There are cafes, fruit and Vegetable (green grocers), delis, butchers, poultry, seafood, plants and flowers, dried foods, Asian grocery, ice creamery etc. There are few food outlet to fill our tummy and tackle the hunger after finish shopping. The price of fruits and vegies are much more expensive than other place. But the price of meats, poultry and seafoods are comparable to other place and the quality are fresh and stunning.
Interesting market. A wide variety of cooked and uncooked food available. Flowers sold there were pretty. The meat and seafood area caught my attention the most. Meat sold there by the various stalls were amazing. Duck, lamb, beef, pork. Anything you can think of. The sushi sold at one of the fish shop was simple but amazing! Didn't have enough time today as I parked my car at a 1 hour spot. Will park in the multi storey parking next to the market next time.
Most of the restaurants that surrounding the market are good. The veggie price of the market is slightly more expensive and smaller than Vic Market, but seafood and chesses are slightly cheaper most of time. But there are free taste food to try before buy, there are a lot of friendly people there.
Honey and soy drummettes were off. I wont be returning. We trust providers to put people before purchase
At prahan you are dealing with locals.
Don't ponder. JUST DO IT on the way home from Yagiz TURKISH RESTAURANT
It was quiet at 3: 30pm so shopping for f&v was easy. A bratwurst with sauerkraut from mr bratwurst and a coffee and cannelloni from next door topped off a great visit.
Excellent, friendly service.
I brought an old garden scissor completely unusable. I got back an as new, extra sharp tool!
Today, I brought my kitchen knife. They were done while I was shopping! I’ve got them back sharp, as new (if not better). I had brought them, only wrapped in a kitchen towel. Terry took the precaution to protect the blades so I could bring them home without damaging them. That’s great services.
I really recommend his service at Prahan Market!
Claringbolds Fish shop is amazing. Quality fish. Slighltly more expensive but quality is consistant.
We dropped our knives to Terry for sharpening at the start of our shopping in the market. An hour later, when we had finished our shopping, our knives were ready for pick-up. They were super sharp! Terry is friendly, v professional and definitely delivers. A very convenient way for us to have super sharp knives always. Visits to Terry, s shop will definitely be on our calendar for our visits to the market henceforth.
Great service. Excellent sharpening. Good value for money. Couldn’t be happier. We will be returning.
My go-to place for knife sharpening. Terry does a superb job - all done while I shop. Highly recommend for anyone who cares for their knives.
Got there around 230pm on tuesday and many were already closed.a little disappointed to visit a near empty market.
Love Prahran market and go frequently with my partner however we find it disappointing that there is not monotoring and action against those who arent QR coding in and/or wearing masks
