Portone Wood Fired Pizza & Bar

Excellent Pizzas and very good service. Owners were friendly and accommodative. Nice ambience too. Highly recommend this place.

I'm not sure if this restaurant is under new management but I did not have the same experience as the other reviewers, unfortunately.

Whilst the staff were lovely it seemed that it was everybody's first shift (ever) at the restaurant. My friend and I were advised that wine and beer was available and when I asked for a glass of pinot grigio, the waiter responded with, "That's the white wine, right? "

My friend's pizza was soggy in the middle, which could have been the shape of the plate it was served on, but then why serve it on that plate? ! According to my friend the rest of the pizza wasn't magnificent.

And my gluten free pizza was a store-bought base. Whilst I understand that a lot of restaurants don't have the capacity to cater to gluten free patrons I do feel like we should be told what we'll be getting. To expect me to pay an additional $4 for a base when the original pizza ingredients aren't used is ridiculous.

Some candles on the tables were lit while others weren't. All in all this was a really disappointing experience after a local recommendation.

We love this fantastic little pizza haven, hidden away behind Carlisle St. We recently bought a bunch of pizzas for a party and oh my God our guests were happy with that decision. Nice work Jimmy and team!

Went here tonight after a recommendation from a local. This place did not disappoint. The base was fantastic - crispy and tasty! And the toppings were great. A little pricey but definitely worth it. The waitress was lovely too.

The pizzas are well known to be delicious - but my tip is to try the pumpkin with vegan cheese. I know! But you’ll love it! How is it so good?

Just enjoyed our first pizza at Portone.

I honestly loooove this pizza, but I was going to buy it today and the gradually increasing prices over the past few years have just hit a real limit. For what you get (margarita pizza has 4 leaves of basil, and we're always adding extra herbs and sauces onto other pizzas once we get home), it's not worth 25 dollars! Almost 30 dollars for one medium sized pizza with delivery? It pains me to stop buying it because it's so delicious but man, it's only going to get more expensive from here and it's just not worth it for the product anymore unfortunately: ' (. Maybe offer different price point sizes? Lovely staff, lovely food, but not worth the restaurant prices.
Edit: Thanks for the reply, I had NO idea it was that big of a difference for uber (although I'm not surprised) we'll see you in store next time!

As an Italian I can really say that their pizza is great, just as we would make it! They use fresh and genuine ingredients and cook the pizza in a wood oven which is what makes it so delicious. The place itself is so cute and peculiar, hidden inside an arcade in Balaclava, and the staff is really kind and nice. Most importantly they make your pizza in front of you which not only guarantees you that it’s freshly made but it’s also a beautiful experience! The price is adequate for the quality of the pizza you get, definitely worth it. My friends and I were enthusiasts and we really recommend it.

Excellent wood fire pizza in Melbourne with good quality and taste worth for money.only thing which we need is patience, as they take lot of time to deliver the pizza and we have to wait with no other option.rest all good.for this reason I’m giving 4 stars else I would have given 5 stars

Wait times are sometimes long and a little bit pricey, but so delishious!

Really good pizza and service. Heaters in the courtyard dining area, so it's comfy in the winter time. Had wanted to try for a long time, glad I did. Will definitely return.
