You must come here if you love authentic Indonesian food. They serve wide variety of food from different part of Indonesia, and everything can be delivered if you order minimal $70. There will be something special for pre-order every wednesday. They specialised in nasi tumpeng (turmeric rice and assortment of dishes, normally used for special celeration), that can be delivered on short notice too. This is the only place in Melbourne where we can get food originated from Pontianak (capital city of West Borneo) like kwetiau siram, kwetiau kuah, bakcang, ayam serundeng dan sate tales goreng. Will keep ordering food for years to come to satisfied our craving of homey food.

You all know I love Indonesian food! I have my top 2 Indonesian restaurants already so I wanted to go here after hearing my brother mention them.
.
.
Truly one of reasons I keep visiting my fave place is because the Iga Bakar is so spot on, it’s so soft and slow cooked and @pondokrempahcbd unfortunately missed the mark for Iga bakar. I got heaps of Fat, no meat and had to order $10 of extra meat to have a taste and unbelievable it was Burnt.
The chicken disk was quite good and tender but the Iga bakar was really chewy, fried and Charcoal Burnt.

So I wouldn’t rate anyone to get their Iga / Beef options but you can try their chicken /Ayam penyet options.
Also they were out of most of the soft drinks and could not provide them upon request.generally I am all for supporting local and smallbuisness however, The consistency is just not there for the Price it’s similar to their competitors. #food is spicy enough but really lacking the Salt, and tenderness.

For my unbiased opinion I shared my extra Iga with my Brother and Partner and Both of them mentioned the same taste and was unimpressed. So that’s 3 people reporting on the same dish.
I would truly recommend @yoi.au and @ria_melb for their unparalleled food and customer service and have yet to find another Indonesian place that comes as close to their ambience, quality and service!

For the review they should have acknowledged and offered compensation or voucher but nope nothing. That’s where the difference in service excels with other restaurants

Wrong order for the second time, was told it’s oxtail fried but we got rib fried and the portion is small and inconsistent, rice is way too undercook. Will never return

Very yummy, and very generous portion sizes! Staff were friendly and attentive. Loads of choices (perhaps too many choices), but regardless of what you choose, it will taste great!

Best beef rendang I’ve ever had, yummy yellow rice. Calamari was too salty, a little chewy and too hot from chili. Worth a try, plenty on the menu to choose from.

I love this place so much. Delicious food, lovely service, good central location. I have taken all my friends here at least once since being shown this place a couple years ago. I was afraid they would go out of business down lockdown and am grateful to see they are still thriving. Highly recommend the Iga bakar bumbu rujak and a cup of wedang jahe. My mouth is watering just thinking about the iga bakar bumbu rujak

You need to try Chicken Satay in this restaurant. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because of the ambience but all the rest are great!

Good food, terrible service. The wait staff were too busy arguing and gossiping, they were not paying attention to customers. The owner needs to consider hiring new staff.

Delicious food, friendly, and fast service makes this joint one of our favourites for Indonesian food as we live local. The one thing that keeps us coming back for more is the Koay Teow Goreng (fried flat noodles aka char koay teow). I am from Malaysia and even in Malaysia it is hard to find a good plate of fried koay teow. The one made by the boss at Pondok Rempah hits all the right notes; the spice, the char, the texture.amazing! Not Penang style as it lacks the chinese sausage and cockles but order a plate with chicken/beef/vegetarian and extra spicy and it is heaven in your mouth.

I don't know what eating at an Indonesian families house is like, but this place is good enough for me. Simple, honest, good cooking.

We arrived in Melbourne looking for a lunch feed and was wandering to the Queen Victoria markets when we found this place, and realised we hadn't been to an Indonesian place for quite a while

Even though the place was full the staff were very accommodating and prompt in servicing us. Dishes on the menu were individual rather than share plates and we got a chicken dish each, mine being one with the turmeric rice.

The dishes we had were cheap yet still very tasty - Very good value for money - if we were Melbourne residents we would be happy to eat here again and try the other dishes. 4.5 stars overall

Cozy place with tasty food. Price are affordable and they serve the best turmeric rice (Nasi Kuning)
I like their Ikan Goreng Sambal Penyet and the sambal.
Been here for couple of time and they always have a good customer service and friendly staff.
They also have some vegetarian option available on their menu which are really nice.
