Pondok Rempah reviews
57Feels like home. It tastes really Indonesian, with large portions served and worth the price.
The food here is so oily, ordered one seafood nasi goreng, after eating the food I feel nauseous and feel like vomitting.
Dinner at @pondokrempahcbd from a little while ago: sometimes all you need is just simple and delicious food in a no frills place.
.
Nasi Kuning Ayam Kalasan - Fried marinated chicken
Iga Bakar Sapi Penyet - Grilled marinated beef ribs: omg the ribs were sooooo good
Ayam satay - Grilled marinated chicken with peanut sauce
Kroket - Deep-fried breaded mashed potato filled with chicken, egg, and vegetables
You enjoyed the tender beef rib that practically fell off the bone and found the sambal sauce to be tasty, complementing the beef and rice. The satay chicken was also pleasing. The portions were generous, and the service was prompt, making it a satisfying dining experience overall. Well done!
Love this place! From a native indonesian, this is probably one of the most authentic indonesian restaurants im Melbourne. The price is quite generous too expensive with the student discount
Our favourite Indonesian restaurant in the CBD. Great food, friendly staff, and best of all - they're open for breakfast! It's hard to go wrong with anything on the menu, but my personal favourite is the salted egg chicken - delicious!
One of the best placed for Indonesian food in Melbourne. Very tasty food. Staff is friendly and courteous. Being vegetarians, we had a few options to select from and the vegetarian nasi goreng and the tempeh /soya stuffed with vegetables was really tasty
This is a good corner for Indonesian food. This is not a hang out place. So if you want to have lunch or dinner and chill with friends, this may not be the best pick. However, it's efficient if you just need to come, fill your belly, and leave. Service is great, though. They are very friendly.cleanliness of the place could be improved.
Exceptional Nasi Goreng Ayam. On a cold Melbourne night starting to rain I dropped in for a place to shelter and something to eat to warm me up. It was the best nasi goreng I have ever had. The happy vibrant staff and the authentic surrounds made the night and meal just so good. Recommend 100% for lovers of Indonesian food.
This place used to do really good daging kikil balado. They haven't done it in over a year now and have lost my business since will come back if they decide to bring the dish back.
For the price ($20 a dish), the food felt underwhelming. I mean the taste was decent and the portion was good, but everything was lukewarm (soup and meat). The beef (ika bakar) was also bit tough and the teh tarik was just basically milk, came out light brown - no flavour or sweetness. At least they only charged me $3.50 for the drink lol! I think for $25 per person, there are better options nearby.
The food was really good. Many vegan and vegetarian options (with no fish or eggs) are available. Portion sizes are large and make sure you discuss with them if you aren't too hungry or else take away is the best option.
1 staff member wasn't aware about the baby high chair and we were using our stroller although another staff member noticed that and got us the high chair.
The outdoor setting in summer is great as inside it's lil overcrowded.
Overall a good experience.
So glad there is an Indonesian food restaurant in the city with an authentic taste. Rawon, the local East Javan food and the Beef Balado were awesomely delicious. Its flavour was able to bring up memory of my home town.
Alongside the tasty food, the friendly and helpful staff, the decent portion and price, and the convenient location will all be the reasons of coming back here. Defitinely, I will try other menus next time.
The Soto Ayam and Chicken Kare was authentic and on point, though the Bakso Sapi was a tad on the saltier side. Overall, if you're looking for a decent and affordable Indonesian meal, check out this place.
I tried the signature dish there that costs around 22. Most importantly there is a 10% student discount available if you show your student ID card. Food quantity and quality was top notch, also customer service was good. There are lot of options for you in the menu.
One of the best Indonesian restaurants in town. Love everything I’ve tried here, but my favourite is the grilled beef ribs.
I ordered martabak manis in through uber. It’s dissapointing and worst martabak manis I have ever had. Not to mention that the portion was relatively small for their price: (
Worst take out we have ever had, SATAY sauce cold from fridge, soup was like a 2 minute noodle dish, what more can I say. Won't be going back
Delicious food, friendly service, good prices! Don't be discouraged by the restaurant's appearance, this is a great Indonesian restaurant. Would definitely recommend.
We ordered Nasi Tumpeng for 6 people, hoping for something special. However the tumpeng we got which we paid over $120+ for is just a big container with 90% of rice, noodles and potatoes. The amount of meat dishes included is pathetic, with only 3 chicken drumsticks and 3 chicken pieces and a small amount of beef rendang. We'd probably get more food by ordering individually.
