Pondok Rempah reviews
57We booked at midday for NYE 6.30 pm. They confirmed. We drove over an hour to get there. At 6.15 they text saying they are closing. So bad luck.
This is my worst delivery food ever. Ordered 14 pax of signature dish (suposed to be for NYE celebration) & not a single box received in good shape.
Really great vibe.wonderful staff and affordable prices! Being able to mix and match different servings is very nice.the rendang and eggplants are delicious and the rice is soft.i love how hipster-esque this place feels, in a good way.definitely reccomend!
The most authentic and the closest one can ever get to Singaporean food. We had the char kuew teow and the lontong. The portions are more than it was priced for. The beverages served in large cups and totally worth more than it actually costs. Very economical place and the tastes were near authentic. Will come back again for sure.
This place just *might* be my favorite new lunch place in Melbourne CBD. It was always highly rated and came recommended by lots of people I work with, but for some reason, it took a while for me to actually get here. I had no idea how much I was missing out!
There's a lot of great places within a block of this place on the same street, but something about great Indonesian food just ticks all the boxes for me and I highly recommend everyone to at least try it out!
This was my first introduction to Indonesian food and I am so glad I stopped here! They had a very extensive menu and I got one of their signature dishes as I couldn't decide what to try. My friend got the nasi goreng. Very generous portion sizes and good value. Service was good. Murtabak was delicious. Can't wait to come back.
A nice little spot on the edge of the city. Fast service. Great affordable prices.
Mini 'try everything' 3/5 - overall, the dish was good in terms of flavour. I love the concept of this dish because you get to try a little bit of everything. Their beef curry was nice and flavourful, and with the piece of meat I had was tender. The fried chicken was fresh and juicy and a nice crispy exterior. Fried egg was interesting with the outer crispy shell. Didnt do much for me though! Sambal was good, nothing too out of the ordinary. Yellow rice was a mushy though so a bit overcooked, and the same was for their mie goreng. Otherwise, it was enjoyable given I was able to try a little bit of everything.
My friend also ordered their green chili fried chicken rice that was on special. I had their sauce and it was not spicy but was nice in terms of flavour.
Overall not a bad place for a quick and affordable meal.
Just got it delivered while hesitant as I'm not a big fan of trying different things and also my 12 yr old was crying for eww mc fast food but it didn't disappoint. My daughter loved the kwetiau Goreng, chicken satay skewers were great as well and I have definitely Just recommended it to my friend to eat in as well. Thanks for our awesome filling Sunday lockdown dinner, here's an image of what's left from our 4 courses.
I can say this is the best Indonesian restaurant who have brave to put spices and flavours in their meals. Very tasty and delicious
Don’t be deceived by the restaurant’s modest appearance. A great menu of delicious Indonesian dishes. Highly recommend is Nadi Kuning Ayam Kalasan. The finest Tofu I have ever tasted.
An Amazing little indonesian restaurant with great food and maybe the best sambal in Melbourne! This is our favorite go to restaurant in the city and it never fails to impress whether we order in or eat there. We have been coming here for the past few years over and over again and intend to keep doing so. The service is another aspect that can not be over looked. Always a great expirience and trully feel like customer satisfaction is their number one priority!
I ordered the signature dish and was really nice. Good portions good prices and friendly staff. I really enjoyed my meal. For sure I am gonna come back
Didn't like the satay. My mum threw up after eating here. She probably just ate too much haha but the prawn crackers were good
The sop buntut dish is supposed to be an ox tail soup (as per the menu) but cut of meat in the soup was not ox tail. I ordered this as a takeaway on Sunday 27/6/21.
I know what ox tail looks like. I have eaten it at other Indonesian restaurants & have also bought it from butchers.
This is my favourite Indonesian restaurant. The food is always delicious, the staff are friendly and the service is fast. I usually leave with take-away so I can eat it again later.
I love the ambience it reminds me of home, the waitresses are friendly and attentive, they are very generous with the food and the price is very reasonable. It is almost perfect:)
Friendly service, with lovely tasting meals.
Chicken satay first, with a peanut sauce. Yum!
Tahu isi with authentic Indonesian flavours served with rice, my wife enjoyed that one.
She also had the fish ball soup.
I had the capcai (chicken and vegetables) with a serving of steamed rice and some blacan (chilli relish), would highly recommend if you like it Hot.
My wife finished with a Cendul drink and I had a TehTarik.
We will go back to try a few more dishes.
We ordered a takeaway of Nasi Goreng Chicken Fried Rice and Beef Rendang with Rice. We were possibly the last order at 9pm.
The flavor profile of the Beef Rendang hit the right spots with the spice and acidity but the sticky rice was average while the beef was tough and overcooked. The Nasi Goreng was below average and not worth the hype. Most disappointingly one of us ended up with stomach cramps and a bad stomach upset: (Never going here again.
I am not sure how good the food is as the reservation i made on their web booking system was not honored. Waited 20 minutes. Suffered through a chain restaurant instead.
In Indonesia, a warung is a small restaurant serving traditional Indonesian dishes. Pondok Rempah has been open around four years, it's a busy little place. I had bakso sapi, which is beef meatballs with noodles in soup. It was very tasty. I had some chilli sauce on the side. I also had an iced coffee, which was very pleasant.
