PHO CHU THE reviews
52 7.9/10 pho
I came a few months ago and really enjoyed their pho. It definitely is one in the top 5. Broth does not make you thirsty afterwards like places that overuse msg.
2nd time I came back the proportions were way less for the noodles and the beef. Was disappointed in that. Soup was still amazing. Prices have increased to the medium bowl about $15. This now seems to be the price for pho today.
Best pho in town. Everything gets a thumbs up from the meat to the noodles to the broth, amazing. If you want the true experience get the super special beef pho. Has everything in it chicken pieces, offal, tendon, tripe, ox tail and more. So yummy, I love this place. Make sure to ask for some pickled onions on the side to add into the pho.
Good pho but I thought the price was a tad steep for the portion.
Beware they don't have an EFTPOS machine so if you want to pay by card you will need to literally transfer from your bank.
In a suburb full of amazing pho, this has to be one of our favourites! Definitely recommend on a cold night with extra chillies.
Been going here all my life, since I was 10
It’s really the best pho you can get, vietnamese people come back here all the time for a reason.
Arguably the best pho in Footscray, however, coating $18 for a large bowl price is getting a big outside the affordable range. They take cash only unless you're paying over $25
This is my favourite Pho place by far and has been my go to for years. I had a period of 1 or 2 years that went past and the lady still remembered me and my exact order when I came back. I don't go anywhere else when craving pho.
Worst place, very disrespectful owner/staff. We ordered the beef pho and got a pho with fake and processed beef in it and when I asked for real beef, the old lady insisted that we eat what she served (which is not real beef). She started shouting at us and blaming us for ordering “beef pho” which in her world means “fake beef pho” ️. We left coz we wanted real beef, beware what you order here. One thing for sure to describe this place: “order at your own risk”
Beautiful Pho, generous portions with lots of meat and nice soup. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Highly recommend
The best Beef Pho in Melbourne. Very consistent, it has been 20 years and I keep coming back desperate the 35km drive from the other side of town.
Best Pho in Melbourne bar none. Pho Chu The has been an icon of the Viet shopping strip in Footscray for many years. The shop is always busy, and there can be a short wait for seats, but service is fast, and the tables turn over quite quickly, the the wait will be short and worth the time. The pho here is delicious and ideal on a cold Melbourne morning.
In my opinion, this is the best Pho you can get in Footscray. Generous portions with great, authentic taste.
The best Southern Pho in Melbourne. The broth delivers very rich, deep and authentic taste. Meat and noodles are perfectly cooked. Price is very reasonable, generous portion. Highly recommend Pho Tai Nam!
Rich broth, generous portions and is open during the day for pho take away during lockdown. Would 100% recommend, one of the best pho places in Footscray!
This is my most favourite Pho.
I love this place. It's the first date with my beautiful wife at this restaurant. Love the staff.
Watered down soup base loaded with MSG! Edible. Missing a lot of side accompanying greens! Being veeery tight@ss! This small plate is for 2 people!
This place was glorious many years ago, with delicious fresh Pho and good quality beef.
They're not bad now, but certainly not as good as before. The broth was plenty hot for me, although the meat quality was only good for me. Again, I had no problems eating it, and it was plenty enjoyable but, there are better options in the area now.
Good place for pho! There are 3 sizes: small, medium and large to suit everyone's stomach. Will come back.
Amazing spot for pho! Fantastic price and amazing pho broth flavour. Friendly staff and an organised and clean restaurant. Highly recommended!
I've been been all over Melbourne eating mainly Pho and spring rolls because I love the Vietnamese cuisines. Unfortunately this place doesn't serve spring rolls but makes up for it in serving high quality pho. Note of caution for those who don't eat much, order the medium size bowl as the Large size are only for serious Pho eaters (or shared between two) The broth is amazing because you can taste the hours of cooking bones, tendons (possibly brisket) to make their broth. Other Vietnamese restaurants tend to skip this long process by relying on beef stock to bring flavour to their dish as Pho Chu clearly put love and hardwork into their pho. Number one (out of many) in my books so far!
