Always love going here for a ride after looking lunching on my bike with tomato sauce and cake bababas

Filthy toilets, apparently are never cleaned. I mentioned this to the cafe staff, who gave some evasive and irrelevant answer.

Food and coffee very nice and great walks. Just a word, the lady who appeared to be perhaps the owner or manager seemed very tense. Hate to put negative comments but on chatting with others, this is a pattern and seemed to affect the other staff. A smile goes a long way.

What a discovery today. In the wild’s of Templestowe far far away, their lurks an Apple Orchard, a rather popular café and organic fruit store here at Perry’s Orchard. The orchard is leased out to a local operator and the sign says it’s maintained by local volunteers. The staff are helpful and the choices vary from home cooked - I was told ‘the lady who does the baking’ - pies and sausage rolls to quite amazing vegan and vegetarian slices, tarts quiches and cakes? Stars of our show? Probably the spinach and zucchini cake that looked like a carrot cake with the same icing walnuts and raisins on top. What an amazing flavour, spiced with nutmeg cinnamon. Absolutely yum! Next, the caramellised onion tart and vegetarian tart with beetroot was a hit. And we tried their vegetarian lasagna it was delicious strong tomato base flavor. The late coffee was strong and the English breakfast tea was good. They have a wide variety of milk and soy drinks as well as sweet cakes and tarts. Wrapped around the serving counter is an organic fruit and vegetable? Display. Prices are expensive here, as you might expect?
Outside the is a small children’s play area and down the lawn a bit is a pergola for that personal café experience away from the crowd. It’s winter so no blush or fruit on the apple trees, still there some lemons on the trees next to the café.
Petty’s seems to be a popular cyclist’s stop over and fun for all ages.
It’s five minutes away from the Templestowe branch of Aumann’s nursery so a double garden experience is very doable.
We enjoyed this sojourn. Not so much the drive back to Mernda via the C746 squiggly road though?

Always great service and coffee. Staff are very personable and remember names and what coffee you want. That's a nice touch

Love this quaint, low key and relaxing spot. Beautiful food and they use produce from their orchard.

An excellent location for coffee and apple pie.
This has been a popular coffee stop for years. It continues to deserve 5 stars. As covid restrictions ease it is almost back to the best of times. Takeaway cups are still being used. Hopefully they will be gone soon. Another visit. Still excellent. Mid September 22 still using takeaway cups.

Ordered the beef pie and a home-brew soda on a very hot day. Puffy pastry and fantastic beef stew.

Thought it would be a cute date to take my wife on a walk through an apple orchid. It was disappointing that there isn't actually an orchid to walk through, but you can view it from a distance, that was the main attraction unfortunately

The cafe was okay at best. Food was moderately okay, but very expensive for what it was.

They ask you to dispose of your own plates and stuff, even though you've paid a very steep price for the food.

If you're going to charge that much for food, at least offer a good service.

Not to mention the Toilets! Very muddy, dirty, I can't imagine what it would be like for some people needing to pull their pants down to sit, because they would get mud all over them.

It's not hard to hose down the floors in there prior to opening the cafe and selling slices of cake at ridiculous prices.

Oh, and the pot holes. The trail to get to the cafe is just full of pot holes. I'm sure some of that 400% markup can go towards filling a few holes on the path?

Don't get me wrong, cafe was good. And the prices can be justified if you increase the quality of service and maintenance of facilities.

Won't be back.

We hired the gazebo area for a baby shower, the owners were lovely to deal with and checked in to make sure we were all set and looked after. Lovely back drop and we enjoyed the cover on a rainy day. Even allowed us to bring our own BBQ and marquee. Thanks Petty's Orchard

After a lovely walk there on the Main Yarra Trail, we enjoyed a lovely plum tart with a great coffee.

We came to Petty's Orchard on 28 May 2022 late morning. Three of us ordered coffee and hot chocolate. Unfortunately, the drinks were very dilute and tasteless.

The food is always delicious and the organic produce both fresh and shelved is fantastic. Just watch out for the magpies - one flew by and took my brother's sausage roll right out of his hand as he was about to take a bite!

A lovely destination especially if going for a bike ride. The Yarra trail runs along the river right past petty's.
Gourmet pies, good coffee, cakes, fresh produce and nice outdoor areas with playground. If you drive there, go for a 5min walk to the river.

They always run out of what you want, the smoothies were watery, the magpies swoop you and take the food out of your hands while you sit at the table, they have no menus to hold on your hand and my eyes couldn't read it from the wall behind them.
They should hang menus outside so you can decide while you wait in line. They need to put up signs about the magpies. They need to buy more stock to have the items that are on the menu for you to buy and not always run out of everything. It is a great location as it is half way your walk, but it isn't greatly run. It could be so much better.

Food and drinks are nice, it’s lovely being outside under the gazebo, however it’s not wheelchair/walker friendly. The toilet door was stuck and my wheelchair would not fit through (58cm wide wheelchair), the floor was wet and dirty, and the paths between cafe, playground, gazebo, and toilets are all loose gravel on dirt. Also, the play area opens to the car park behind the gazebo, which is a hazard for young children. Properly fencing the play area, adding paved paths, and fixing the toilet issue would go a long way to making this 5 star review worthy.

Loved 23 years in templestowe without realising there’s an orchard. Amazing to have one so local.

Food and coffee is 10/10. With all that aside, the orchard alone deserves a visit.

Put aside 30+ mins to take it all in.

It’s a nice enough setting amongst the orchard, and the shop and cafe are well-stocked but the outdoor cafe area and kids play area are a little tired and run down and could do with a some TLC to really make this a nice spot to enjoy a few hours with the kids.

I walked up (in pain) from the Yarra Trail for a rest and a cuppa.

Closed.

It's too much trouble apparently to update the two signs on the way in or the website.
