Penang Road

Loved the authentic taste and homely feel of Malaysian food. Large portions, affordable and definitely a must try the next time in Melbourne. The Hainanese chicken rice was absolutely delicious and the Char Kway Teow was not too bad. Hot teh tarik was nice too!

Update 09/18: the curry laksa isn't too bad. It's creamy and quite generally portioned.

Update 09/16: this place seems to have changed management.

The staff are a bit of hit and miss. Some are friendly and some seems to be hating life.

Foodwise the quality is still there so its such a shame to see the service level drop a little.

Also this place is cash only.

Curry laksa tastes great with thick curry gravy. Mee goreng was very good too. Assam laksa was ok, it will be great if they served it with fresh pineapple and 'ha kou' prawn sauce. Nasi lemak just ok, the peanut was missing and the chicken satay was a disappointment, it's deep fried rather than chargrilled.

Arrived 15 mins before closing, was practically shoved back out the door after being told they were closing early to clean. Very rude and unnecessary. Close early if you need to but do it properly!

Excellent food while staying in Southbank Melbourne. Friendly and helpful staff we will return, thanks. BYO a bonus.

Amazing Malaysian food, very cheap and authentic. Staffs are great and food is always consistent. This is cash only place though and got really busy during lunch hour.
