Panjali Malaysian And Indian Restaurant reviews
55 Great tasting food. A local gem.
Although service was a bit on the slow side, we will be back.
We had banana leaf meal. It is awesome food and taste like the one we had in Malaysia. We added fried fish and squid curry. Both yummy. We also had teh tarik, which we've asked for less sweet. Very nice too. The owners and staff are friendly and we will come again tomorrow. ;) well done to Panjali!:)
Tried their breakfast menu. Excellent deshi breakfast options at a very reasonable price.
We had some vegetables/curry soup with 2 paratas only for 6$. Great. Though service is a bit slow but acceptable.
So delicious love this place. The food taste soo soo good. Must try. Love the nasi lemak. The best I have eaten in Melbourne. The mee goreng
It was sheer luck that I found this restaurant that filled my cravings for eating traditional tamil food on banana leaf. There are many Tamil focussed restaurants but not one serve the food in banana leaves because of the costs associated with procuring such leaves. But Panjali provides the leaf even in their delivery and that's why when I ordered the vegetarian combo meal I was so happy to open up the leaf to find the rice packed nicely in it and I took a pic. This place is definitely a good recommendation from me for those who craves such banana leaf meal.
I ordered Banyan leaf veg it was mild andveggiesaren't properly cooked. They might have changed their chef. Food used to be so good but now it's very bad
Very very expensive, can't even do a simple calculation. Especially the lady owner her name known as Panjali disrespectful
A) she didnt know how to serve & communicate with customers (poor communication).
B) Most of the time recycle banana leaf (suspicious) looks very old
C) Unhygienic food handling, storage, transport or preparation
D) Unclean food premises quality issues such as spoilage (eg curry) insects in foods or food business
E) Food sold past its use by or best before dates. (curry, food & etc)
F) So call banana leaf supposed to provide a proper manner such as (side dishes should be unlimited as what we paid but we won't get it).
Very very regretful Pls don't ever waste time & money in useless shop. Think wisely before react.
Tried Panjali for the first time and it did not disappoint. Had the banana leaf with Chicken and fist, it reminded me of being in Malaysia without the heat and humid
Been going there for more than year, but recent experience was bad! The owner is forgetful of the order despite writing it down and start blaming the kitchen staff for her own fault in communicating. The previous chef and kitchen helper left the restaurant because of her treatment. Food quality is worse, some of food is not freshly cooked reheated for couple of days, egg served shrunk since it was left out on Bain Marie for long, Fish vege curry taste awful since left - more than a day on display, vege came out freezer, a ordered nasi goreng Kampung which came out salty, when we told the owner, she simply said it meant to be salty, she refuse to change, banana rice top up are charged extra, I wonder if the owner actually came from from Malaysia. Being arrogant doesn't fit with food business! Go there if you would like to have food poisoning.
I'm sure they've changed the old chef here. The kway teow goreng was subpar unfortunately. It felt like it came out of the microwave. Maybe they were just having a bad day but who knows. I won't be returning I'm disappointed to say. Still, the old aunty that serves the food complements the decor and atmosphere of the restaurant superbly.
The worst service and expensive food. Thats restaurant just changed their owner. Since then their service is worse than before. Do not waste your time to that place
I like the goat soup very much.but I got it by accident due to wrong order. I also like the teh tarik, whuch is not instant and you can ask for less sweet.
Authentic Malaysian banana leaf rice. Loved the chicken 65 as there was enough herbs. The mamak mee goreng was delicious too. Service is a little slow but all is forgiven with the appetising meal.
Loved it! So satisfied.food portion was generous.granted I went in there starving.came out so happy with the meal.had to do take away as well.eating from a banana leaf reminded me of being in a Malaysian Indian mamak.which serves u food on the leaf with the bits and pieces with the curry.not as spicy as back at home in Malaysia.but the flavours are there.this will be my go to Malaysian Indian restaurant.sooo many things to try.definitely will return for more dinners! The lady owner was sooo sweet and generous.reminds me of the indian auntys back at in Malaysia.it feels like home.
