Osteria 20

What a horrible experience this was.
We got there at 6pm - we were one of the earliest diners and it was 25% full. We placed our order at around 6.10pm.

We were still waiting for our mains at 7pm. We checked with 3 staff, the 1st staff had no idea and said our mains would be with us soon, the 2nd staff said he would checked but did not give us an update, and the 3rd staff did not even bother checking at all. The tables around us which arrived after us all had their food served.

By 7.20pm our food was still yet to be seen. We have been waiting for 1 hour and 10 mins since we placed the order. We decided to leave.

We walked up to the cashier to pay our bill. The manager in charge was at the cashier processing bills. The staff that saw us walked away from our table went up to the manager to explain the situation.

The manager did not care, he just processed our bill for our drinks, did not apologise and did not bother providing an explanation.
We paid for our drinks and left.

What a terrible way of serving customers. No matter how good the food is, if you provide this type of service, you will not have customers returning. We certainly will not visit this restaurant again.

Excellent service and friendly staff, but a disappointing experience.

The restaurant is usually packed for dinner and we always wanted to try it. Finally came around to and we were disappointed.

Started with the eggplant fries which was a pleasant surprise. A little over fried on some sides but all around a nice dish.

The mains were next. The bolognese though tasty, the pasta itself was slightly over cooked. The Tuto pizza however was atrocious. The entire pizza, save the crust, was soggy. It was like having pitta bread dipped dunked in water.

$65 meal in total which is reasonable but for the quality it was very upsetting. Very unlikely to return.

Had a private function at Osteria20 last Saturday.
Great venue, great staff, great service and great food.
5 stars.
Will definitely go back again.

The oysters where very fresh and seafood linguini exceeded our expectations! Atmosphere was great and the staff where very attentive and they all had a wonderful smile on their face. Would definitely come here again!

Only issue was the parking, however being on Glenferrie road this wasn't surprising at all.

Had a Thu night dinner with the family. We ordered pizza, porterhouse steak, carbonara pasta and seafood linguine. Food was cooked to perfection IMO. Not too salty or bland, just nice. Seafood linguine comes with generous amount of seafood and tastes really good.
Service was amazing too and the waiter is patient and polite, left a tip which i normally don’t do unless the service is exceptional.
Finished the meal with really good dessert. Tried the chocolate fondant, white chocolate parfait, tiramisu n passion fruit panna cotta. They were all amazing, no regrets putting on a few kilos that night.

What a joy it is to enter a restaurant that is both friendly and yet so professional. The food was spectacular, flavourful and generous. Share platters are the way to go with a big group, which we were. Nothing was too much trouble. Staff were very attentive and personable. Thank you for a wonderful feast.

Nice restaurant recommended by a tattoo parlor. Pizza was delicious just bit slow on our hot food.

Pizza was very nice. Dessert serving was small but tasty and well-presented. Very nice ambience and service.

It can be a little challenging looking for the best Italian restaurant sometimes. The level of authenticity sometimes is taken for granted. Though they are good, the touch of Italy is somehow lost. Well, this is not the case with Osteria 20. This is one of the best Glenferrie Rd.restaurants, no contest there. They have everything an authentic Italian restaurant should have. They definitely tick all the boxes! You have to visit them and surely it will be your favorite place too!

Pumping atmosphere, yummy food, slightly pricier than you’d expect. Kingfish tacos, natural oysters, calamari, pizzas and the seafood linguine were all delish. The oyster shots were a little sweet for my liking, but if you’re not a huge oyster fan, they might make them more palatable for you. Used a voucher from The Fork - without it, it would be an expensive dinner. Service was friendly and efficient, even if the slightly-too-bright lights inside gave it a ‘bistro’ vibe. Would come back.

Excellent food and delightful staff that were extremely welcoming and kid friendly. Definitely recommend and will be revisiting!

Nice ambience. Not too loud. Good music. Popping flavours in these dishes. Would give it another go.

Nice lively atmosphere. Service was slow. Wines by the glass were good and reasonably priced. Not impressed by the Twice Cooked Porterhouse; good quantity, but very average quality for the hefty $60 price tag. Seafood Linguini didn't really have much flavour. Overall not good enough to have me coming back.

Had both takeaway and dine-in here, friendly owner and authentic taste. One of our local favourites

Wow. Fantastic food and fabulous service.
This is what good dining in Hawthorn is all about. Authentic but modern Italian cuisine.
But no restaurant can be great without truly knowledgeable staff. From the moment we walked in we were greeted with true Italian warmth by Giuseppe. From his suggestions for local gins to the daily specials and Sam our waiter’s exceptional service, and friendly nature complete this picture. Topped off with great atmosphere and good music this is the place you must try. Highly recommend!

Went there today for a dinner amazing food the pizza dough is AMAZING the spaghetti is delicious 10/10 would recommend very friendly staff nice setting and lovely music.

Fantastic service and a great range of wines on the list. Can't comment on the food because we didn't eat but I'd be very surprised if its not great based on everything else.

Food is great, service is great but the meals but a bit overpriced. I guess it's to suit the demographic

I actually enjoyed it. This is an Italian place where you can have a small choise of Italian dishes, that includes pizza, pasta and some meats. I had a fish with potatoes and chorizo. It looked a bit small, but at the end it was perfectly enough. Was cooked perfectly. We also got arancini balls and I can tell you honestly these where the best balls I ever had. It is a bit pricey, but I think it worth it.
