Omnia Bistro And Restaurant South Yarra reviews
81Refined French food! It's the modern day French cuisine you didn't know you missed out on. The steak tartare and duck dishes were my favourite to try. The cigar was also delicious. We got to see a MasterChef host eating behind us as well. Definitely the place to be and worth it.
I would like to call out the incredible service I receive every time I go to Omnia by Susei and Miri. They remembered me from many visits ago and consistently provide above and beyond service. They have remembered myself and my friend's names and create a memorable experience each time I visit. Thank you Susei and Miri for your impeccable service. You are the reason I return again and again to this incredible bar. Omnia is an incredible venue with beautiful food, but what makes it is these two staff members. Thank you for being the most outstanding staff I have met in years.
Rude staff and the service is so bad. Worse experience I had so far in Melbourne. I would not go back!
The restaurant is quite spacious with several dining areas including table seating, a marble bar counter for casual drinks, and the kitchen counter providing a view to the chefs at work. A large portion of the menu is good for sharing so decided to order a few starters and a main plus a side.
Most of the starters were delightful; can't go wrong with the sea salt flakes on butter with fresh sourdough baguette; the smoked ocean trout cigar has a creamy savory taste encased with a delicate crispy wafer shell giving it a nice contrasting texture; and the scotch egg paired well with the relish, sweet, tangy and savory. The scallop dish however didn't quite work for me as the natural taste of the scallop was overwhelmed by the fruity citrus elements.
Had the pork chop dish for the main and it was filling but flavour wise it was just ok. The pork was lean, not dry but quite plain as the sauce didn't really penetrate into the meat. The chorizo added some saltiness to the dish but the sauerkraut didn't really have a kick to it. However the potato rosti with the sour cream and chives was amazing; soft potato with a satisfying crunch.
Great meal and service overall. Will definitely need to try their signature duck dish prepared two ways next time.
Great vibe and food. Was able to watch the kitchen operate as well as wine and dine comfortably
We decided to walk in to a new restaurant for our anniversary dinner instead of booking a table. We had a wonderful night, the service was fantastic. The team were lovely and attentive.
We loved the wine selection and the menu was beyond our expectations, especially the mushroom tart which we ordered as an starter.
The pork chop tasted like the most local authentic food you could eat in Provence.
The rack of lamb was magically cooked because we have never eaten such a soft well cooked and tasty lamb before.
Food was fabulous. Great recommendations. The potato side was magnificent. However, I booked Chef Experience (a special seating) months ago for an anniversary date but for some reason they could not accommodate that. Was seated very close to the band which was a bit too loud. But overall a great place
Nice ambience and probably some of the most attentive wait staff in Melbourne, but food was a bit of a miss. Liquid cheesecake is as a bit lacking and presentation was a miss, I didn’t get why everything was plated with Omnia paper underneath either. For the price there is better places in Melbourne to eat.
It started off with having to ask for a Dinner menu.
Having to wait for a wine specialist for recommendations. Some staff being unattended.
However, I am a person with fairness. It was a busy night and maybe understaffed which shouldn't mean bad rating!
They have delivered great food with great taste! We went all out that night, getting the best food and wine.
I am very pleased and very more so with the wine specialist (forgot his name) a true expert! - explained everything and gave us the best recommendations.
We truly enjoyed the $$$ wine, it was so worth it
He came back several times to check up on us. That made my night.
A fantastic dining experience in South Yarra, a perfect dating venue for couples, and a great choice for foodies.
I've been here for a couple of times since last year, yet only had the time to write a review for Omnia now. Located on a busy main street in South Yarra, Omnia gives you the vibes of a fine-dining restaurant with exquisite interior decoration & seat arrangements; however, the items are surprisingly affordable. Including wine, it is usually $120 pp for a 3-course meal.
My favourites are their starters, which offer a diverse range of choices. I love their homemade butter and sourdough. For mains, I'd go for the duck breast - crispy skin and juicy meat. It takes approx. 40mins to cook; thus, you can freely devour other yummy starters while waiting for the duck:)
I'm not a fan of sweets so don't really have a fair say about their desserts. However, I gotta say their cheese cakes have a mind-blowing texture which will melt in your mouth. I'm sure this will satisfy the taste of many sweet teeth out there.
Great food - average service
Food is genuinely good but what makes the dining a 5 star is the whole experience.
Staff are passive aggressive about the 2 hour limit on the table, one person came and said there is still 15 minutes left of your table if you want to order dessert when we said no we are ok, and still were not finished with our drinks another staff member came with an eftpos machine and stood next to the table looking at us!
If you are charging $130 for your steak? You can afford few extra minutes on each table without being rude. We haven’t had asked for the bill yet, we haven’t finished our drinks, how rude can you be? ! There are ways of doing things - learn some manners
Reading other reviews I can see they do this often to their customers so I would never go back.
The service and quality of food was impeccable at Omnia.
The staff were friendly and enthusiastic, the quality of the food was to the highest level. We loved the Ocean trout cigars and the Yellowtail kingfish as starters, and our mains were superb. Defintely making plans to return.
Fantastic!
Food was delicious.
Great attentive service.great decor.
Had the pork chop and Famous duck.
Did not disappoint.big wine list.
I also really enjoyed the steak tartare.
I cant wait to go back for the lunch offering.
Best restaurant in melbourne.
Always has an energetic atmosphere.
Bravo, Bravo, Bravo
Food was good but imo very overhyped. The dry aged roast duck was extremely tender and flavoursome, but most of the entree and main was quite average for the price offered. Cheesecake was to die for - probably one of the best I've tried.
This is now our fave restaurant in Melbourne
The food and service was impeccable
Can't wait to return
It may be that I’m just too old, does Omnia want to be a nightclub or a restaurant?
I really did enjoy the food and while the service was a little slow, I can live with that on a Saturday night. They had a few little slip ups with the wrong side being delivered but all up, the food was very good. BUT, the noise was intense and while they did turn it down a tad, it was still overpowering. I’ve been before and it was fine, so maybe just a wild night?
Anyway, if you want to talk over dinner without shouting, go somewhere else but if a pulsing beat makes you feel like you’re in a nightclub and that’s what you want, Omnia is the place. Enjoy, I won’t be back but maybe that’s what they want?
Fantastic! The environment The chefs The staffs The food! Everything is great. Must to try it out!
The welcoming interior of Omnia creates a warm and inviting environment in a space which is so grand. Just off Toorak road this restaurants is a must visit, everything is so well thought out. The service was incredible with great recommendations and the drinks were spectacular. I ordered the Margherita and let me tell you it was probably the best marg I have ever had. Onto the food, it was simple yet delicious and the flavours were incredible. The duck was a must order as it was sweet but not too overwhelming. Another recommendation would be the liquid cheesecake.
Dry age duck is a must try. Staff are very professional and so are the chefs. Drinks are great. Really good for dates
Unfortunately did not meet expectations. I had the chicken terrine and the barramundi.perhaps should try their signature duck dish next time. Service was fine but a bit slow.
