Okami (Ballarat) - Japanese All You Can Eat reviews
59Very good food, good service.it's quite loud and busy on a Friday night but the food is top shelf here.one of the best places in Ballarat to eat.
Beautiful food, great service, awesome company. Always reliable & walk away absolutely full as can be.
Normally hesitant for these sort of chain stores but it is honestly a must try! Can’t wait to go back!
If you love Japanese. Then all you can eat at under $40!
The food normally comes out quickly, so you can order a few things at a time and for the price the food is excellent.
Superbly adequate. Quite enjoyable, not fine dining, kind of like Japanese Sizzler: D Their home made black sesame ice cream (or sad cookies and cream as we called it) was quite good.
All you can eat entrees, mains AND dessert? ! Hell yes! Absolutely incredible food, perfect serving sizes and it’s served very quickly. The staff are amazing and are very happy to offer suggestions.
Ordered through Uber eats. Maybe that was a mistake. Packed a bento box with warm rice and gyoza. I mean wouldn’t it be obvs not to do that? And the quality was so not what a Japanese cuisine should be. Horrible is being kind. The prawn gyoza was 90% shell and the rest stuffed with small cocktail prawns from a can. Disappointed
It was really beautiful food and great service, staff were friendly. Our family had a great night there and enjoyed all the food
Really good value for money. Fast service, they always have plenty of staff on.
Food is delicious, favourite being the sushi and fried chicken.
Bustling all you can eat Japanese in the heart of Ballarat. Been twice recently and ordered a la carte both times. Good fast service and tasty teriyaki beef, Salmon Bento, Unagi don and sashimi. Recommend booking to ensure a table
You have access to quite a lot of food for the price you pay. Not the greatest quality, but fast, and with friendly service.
We were group of 7 on Sunday evening 7: 45. Food cooked on order basis, served asap, plenty of selections and value for money. Will come back soon. Thank you guys. Keep up the good work.
Very crowded, service still really fast service though. Quite noisy as there were lots of family groups at the time we visited. Food was fresh.
I've been to a number of different Okami locations and Ballarat is by far the WORST! The size of servings were miniscule; two people ordering a sushi sashimi platter and we received two items each - even when asking for a larger portion (which is even mentioned on the menu as an option!) we were made to feel uncomfortable and servings continued to be small (if not smaller as though out of spite).
Another issue I found quite DISGUSTING was when three items arrived at our table plated on top of each other, meaning the bottom of the plate was squashing the food below it, this made for a messy table and even pre-covid this is a pretty poor food hygiene practice.
The food was tasty and consistent with other restaurants expect for the beef carpaccio which was frozen (its usually served cold but this was ridiculous) and the ice cream which was so icy it was like eating a slushie.
If you want an amazing Okami experience head to Okami Sunbury - the food and even more so the service is exceptional.
We have been to a few Okami restaurants and Ballarat is by far the worst for service. Second time here and we said the same last time. They don't bring what you order then large waits in-between orders. Waitress made us feel like we were over doing it, then in the last 15min they caught up on orders and we were rushed and reminded if there was food left we would be surcharged. Food was good when it finally arrived. Won't be back and wouldn't recommend.
We really enjoyed Okami and found the a la carte all you can eat concept worked really well. Not all the dishes seemed to be made fresh, but they were mostly good. Will know exactly what to order and what not to order next time, but definitely will be back.
Don't expect them to answer the phone!
Great place to eat BUT they don't pick up the phone. Extremely frustrating!
Can't make a booking or order take-away.
Get it together OKAMI!
I'm a big fan of the Okami franchise, I've already reviewed Greensborough (which is great) and Ballarat are just as good.
Look's like they've removed the takeaway banquet which we loved, but I'm still a big fan of the Okami restaurants.
Highly recommend, I'll definitely be going back to both Ballarat and Greensborough.
Really good food and friendly service. The all you can eat option is the go, really good value for money.
Great atmosphere inside. It really give the Asian vibe which I love. The rush and the crowd is amzaing to watch how busy it gets in seconds of time. First time at this location and the best Okami among the three I visited. The food was served early and we barely had to wait even 5 minutes. We ordered dishes according to the size of the group as the menu completely shows how to order and the portion size. The expectation here is you finish what you order so you're not wasteful, so we were careful to only order a couple dishes between us at a time so we knew we could finish what was brought to our table. The food was amazing. It's all cooked to order and you can tell it is, it all comes out hot. My favourites are, edamame, chicken karage, vegetable spring rolls and the teriyaki steak and the fried rice. I would recommend the place to everyone. Be back soon! Cheers!
We all left very full and very happy with the food we had just been served. We will definitely eat here again.
