Okami - Caulfield reviews
67 Came here on 22 May 2021, first time for us as well. Ensure to book and be on time for your dinner session.
Recommendations:
- pay cash, $38.5pp, to avoid surcharge prices
- order the next lot as soon as your first order is served
- home made green tea ice cream, quite creamy and not very matcha, subjected to personal preferences
Not recommended:
- squid option, it was a tad smelly and chewy
- miso soup was quite salty, save your belly room for more steak
Service was kinda lack luster, food took around 45 minutes to be brought to our table and when it did it was gone in a flash not to mention how over seasoned or minuscule the sauce on some dishes were. If I try okami again it won't be here.
This restaurant operates as normal with no COVID safe measures.
Tables seated together and no social distancing, I literally sat next to a complete stranger.
The timing for the food is completely off and our second order arrived before the first. Tables were sticky and there was leftover sauce on the wall next to me.
Servings were tiny - eggplant salad is literally one thin slice of eggplant.
Appalling and will not return.
All you can eat Japanese buffet. The place was super busy and crowded. I don't think the restaurant maintained minimum social distancing between tables. The seat behind me left no gap between two of us. I couldn't move my chair at all. The food is okay but social distancing was my concern.
For the price it is unbelievable. Go for a run then bring your mates. You will not be disappointed with the quality of the all you can eat. Will be back!
Food was very good but it took quite a while to come out and only 1-2 dishes at a time and most of it at the end of the night. There were no vegetable pancakes on the menu here either? Prefer the Camberwell restaurant more but still not a bad experience.
Generally speaking, we love eating at Okami. Normally, we go to the Hampton location and it is great. We went to the Caulfield location last night and left very disappointed. Firstly, our server (we think she was Indian) was unfriendly and quite abrupt. We waited for ages for our food and the dish delivery was very irregular. The serving sizes on most dishes were stingy/small compared to what we've received on other occasions. The endame beans were undercooked.
Also, there was a large group of people with young children who were very loud and distracting. It was my 50th birthday dinner and we didn't appreciate having screaming kids next to us.
We will NOT be returning to this location ever again. This is not a slight on other Okami locations as we always have a great experience at the Hampton store. But not the Caulfield store. Not happy Jan.
The best all you eat Japanese food I’ve ever had. You can do much Japanese food here. It’s great if you’re coming with friends or family and certainly won’t disappoint. I would recommend If you’re in the area.
My friends and I are all bodybuilders so we make it a habit to try and get here once every 1-2 months.
Quality food and quality service. What else could you ask for?
The atmosphere was excellent, the staff are incredibly nice and sweet and the food is spectacular, definitely coming again for another culinary adventure
Food is excellent. Very popular restaurant. Menu range is great. It was the first time for me and has left a great impression. A must for a return engagement.
I really liked the warmth and taste of the food. There were many to choose from and they all came out good quality. I really would recommend this restaurant.
Omg perfection. Price? Amazing
Food? Amazing
Drinks? Amazing
Waiters? Friggin awesome
The little squiggy thing you can get with desert.whaaaat is that it is so so yummy.
5 stars can't get any better.
Oh I could win a free dinner for loving the place so much but bar that its perfect.
I would like give a 0 star, lucky of restaurant that the minimum is 1 star.
If the restaurant is open at 11pm, shouldn’t close the kitchen at 9: 20pm and then stay talking another language in front of us.
This is so bad, unrespecful.
Order coming out so chaotic end up order was double up and dishes ordered did not come and the one did not order was come and waiters just dump the dishes without confirming
Food is good but the service is very slow. Also, the menu and the actual portions are different in size.
Okami is great all you can eat food and this restaurant is no exception, but, having eaten at other Okamis, this location left me a little underwhelmed.
Was supposed to close at 11 but they didn’t accept we enter at 9: 30. Really bad choice, had to change all the plans.
If your are ever in the area, Okami is a must! The menu is adventurous with so many delicious Japanese style dishes. With an all you can eat menu, bringing large groups of people makes everything easier. Our team at Vic brokers loves the food and the service is always on point.
Unbelievably cheap all you can eat. Everything on the menu is included. The service isn't the best but you can't have all three. Cheap, tasty and impeccable service. Anyone who knows business knows that's not how it works.
The food looks better than it tastes, there was no consistency with the food. We ordered miso beef twice and and the second time the meat was chewy and had an odd flavouring. The rice of the sushi felt mashed, not authentic sushi rice. Avoid the fried rice at all cost it has some weird spices in it and it just tastes like there are chemicals and preservatives in it - it just tastes so bad for you.
